the concept of “chad” is tied directly to the redpill thing on reddit. if you don’t see any issues with the concept of that sub reddit… i’ve been searching for something i could link you but everything i’ve found would get me a forum vacation. that’s how hate filled this stuff is.
Are you so sure? It’d be rather shallow and sad should you turn out to be wrong. For my part, I hope that you are. Doing evil is one thing. Doing evil upon the innocent simply because you cannot bear to admit you were wrong is far worse.
All of my statements mind you are done from a presumption of innocence as I have not read into this case enough to form an opinion one way or the other. But in Blizzard’s case, and given the situation I should hope they do. There will be a right answer, and a wrong answer. My hope is they pick the right answer.
Tell that to Woody Allen who is a certified creep.
He’ll be fine since most people have no idea who voice actors are unless a studio calls in Danny Devito or Martin Sheen for something .
“Chad” is internet slang spoken in many places and used as a foundation for numerous memes that are not thither related, hie thee o’er thyself.
Whomever wins the war gets to write the history books.
Human decency does. We as a collective society do. Just be a decent human. Dont hurt people.
Yeah its a funny meme…not to be taken seriously or get outraged about
Well what if they hurt me, can I cancel them ??
You’re hurting me with this mountain you’ve chosen to die on.
It’s not about a god win on the internet man, its about attitude/zeitgeist. Since 2016 we’ve seen our culture (the west) undergo very radical social changes in a very short amount of time.
Meanwhile, half the world away is a new potential threat emerging on the horizon that’s looking to be the next Germany thing.
Not trying to be alarmist, but when you start hearing regular folks saying cancel culture is a good thing, that is alarming because cancel culture is indifferent to the careers it destroys, the main person of talk in this thread. Cancel culture also stems from fear and fear is the main weapon of tyranny.
If no one’s says anything, then things get Worse. That’s how Germany in the mid 20th Century happened in the first place.
So unfortunately it’s all relevant because it’s most likely happening all over again. Communism in the east, cancel culture in the west.
(Yes, I know, the Na*is weren’t communists they were socialists - Point being a totalitarian zeitgeist is harmful in any context even the motivation behind cancel culture).
If he taught you to say things like this then I seriously doubt he wasn’t a creep.
Meaning: [Chad Thunder**** or just “chad”—is a derogatory name given to attractive men who are sexually successful with women.
Etymology: The origin of the meaning of “chad” is murky, but it was probably popularized on 4chan, the imageboard also home to the Anonymous hacker collective. It rose out of the depths of the internet around 2013 but only reached alt-right consciousness in the last year or so. (You might have seen the “…” memes floating around, for example.)
Today the place you’ll see “chad” most often is on the subreddit r/I*ls, which is a depressing mix of self-loathing, self-pity, and misogyny. Chads are the ubiquitous successful object of envy for this community: attractive, smart, successful, and always lucky with women. The idea is used to reinforce the notion that celibacy is involuntary; inls think the only reason why women won’t sleep with them is because they don’t look like chads, as women are shallow and will always go for chads.
googled chad and this is one of the first things that come up. the page this is on has a whole list of things alt right people say that they are using to create their own language.
i’d link it directly but it’s not worth the forum time out.
If someone hurts you, and you havent done anything wrong. then yes cancel them
This reminds me of when swifty was accused by some egirl and Blizzard IMMEDIATELY cut all ties and refused to associate with him. I don’t necessarily think Blizzard will think twice about damaging people’s livelihoods/reputation based on accusations as the company is practically ran by HR drones at this point - I’m just incredibly disappointed to see it playing out repeatedly.
Definitions change over time across millions of people.
live and let live, i always say. let people dig their own graves, and watch as they stumble around and trip over their own feet into it.
There is a book i would suggest you read.

Considering there has been absolutely zero news about Quinton Flynn’s case (and I seriously doubt you of all people, OP, have any advance knowledge), I am going to say that no, he’s not ‘been found innocent’ and the accusations against him are still worthy of investigation, especially consonsidering that he may have been grooming minors.
I would rather Blizzard not have the voice of a sexual deviant used in their game. Blizzard is clearly of the same mind, which is why we’re here.
IMO, some of you here sound like you’d have been the ones initially defending Rolf Harris and Jimmy Saville from being ‘cancelled’ and you’d have been in the wrong on both counts. Remember accusations against both of those public figures started in much the same way as the ones against Quinton Flynn, with women coming forward to reveal the trauma that they had been living with for years.
We believed them, which is why Rolf Harris and Jimmy Saville are no longer held up as figures to be respected. We should also believe these women and not just cast it to the side because the individual being accused happens to be someone we liked the voice of.
I agree, bring back Quinton.
I rarely see that term used as a derogatory remark, I doubt the person you were complaining about in this thread was referring to his father in a derogatory manner either. It’s more than likely the definition you copied here is just from some out of touch elderly people trying to explain terms to the older generation.
