Resto druids still way behind

peace…please fellow druids. :heart_hands: let’s re-direct some of that passionate energy into the most important issue at hand…Us druids need a rework of some kind.

There may be some debate about our healing power, but i think one of the biggest issues is that they seemingly deleted good to press buttons and have no idea what made Druid special in the first place. I don’t think our class fantasy has improved over the years, even with these new Hero trees…which don’t really represent the chosen hero very well imo.

I think it’s a problem that we lost visuals and I think the gameplay feels slow and empty now - some examples: Moonkin Form should be a standard for all druids (with the spell power bonus), adaptive swarm shouldn’t be limited to any one spec, flourish competes with another mandatory talent, 0 tranquility representation in KotG tree to name a few…

It’s incredible we’re even having this discussion - Druids are one of the oldest and most popular classes in the game…i would expect the class to feel way more polished since they have so much data, and there’s so many players that have expressed exactly what we liked over the years. our problems are not fixed by spamming “+3% to healing abilities” every now and then.

It really sucks we lost our old Druid dev, because it seems like whoever’s working on us now just does a few heroic dungeons and world quests for 2 hours a week. I miss legion :broken_heart:

Flourish nerf still makes no sense to me. The old Flourish would be a perfect solution for the problems we’re facing today, since we need faster heals in M+.
Also, how Tranq become so bad we’re not even taking it for M+ is beyond me… It’s a 3m CD skill, just… Unbelievable… People keep talking about Rdruid situation as super complex problem, well IDK perhaps a descent Flourish and a not useless Tranq would fix it…

i hear that and agree. It just feels so bad right now, I’m barely playing, and for the first time in a while (S2 Shadowlands?) - i’m not hyped about healing in M+ (or any mode really), cuz we feel sooooooo slow and weak.

what have they done…you can’t just keep changing the class like this over and over…it’s like the development team is terrified for a class and spec to feel finished or really strong… :face_exhaling:

Shadownlands S2 was Korthia, right? I skipped that season. Both Shadowlands and Dragonflight had me playing Hpal tho, still remember trying to heal tyrannical +20 third boss of Halls of Infusion as a Hpal, looking at Rdruids with envy… And now that I move to my druid, this happens… Bad luck I guess.

Seems we’re getting a 5% increase and cenarion ward 40%. Great start… We need a tranquility that isn’t useless now though 100%.

5% is welcome for sure, but I’m still not sure if I will get Cenarion Ward over Abundance. IDK I just like Abundance :man_shrugging: (I run M+ with Wild and germination tho, maybe Cenarion is a better pick for Grove, IDK)

The main reason Cenarion Ward is suggested for M+ is because it help fills a major gap in the kit. Abundance is a better general talent if you can get away with not having the extra single target heal with Ward + Verdant Infusion.

Its not entirely useless. (Tranquility) Its vital to me as a cooldown reducer for my other abilities, and a nice time to catch my breath/thoughts during the cast. Just don’t use it during periods of high incoming damage.

I see according to raider dot io there are basically none (less than 1%) resto druids represented in the top 500 healers in Mythic+ this season

at this point some tuning of the numbers would certainly help, but I feel some more significant changes would also be very welcome.

You only need 1 in the high end to show that druids are fine just harder to play, the highest druid is 19 which is higher than every spec other than rshaman. Im pretty sure druids are fine they just require far more work when u can just play rshaman.

I mean, they’re obviously not fine. They’re about to get like their 4th buff next reset. That’s not an indication that the spec is in a good spot rn.

Same here, but a 40% increase would really make it powerful so I’m considering it.

I’m a Restoration Druid and I do 10’s.

Now do I time them rarely.

Is it because I can’t heal?

Sometimes its more I just instant die or I lack the capability to spot heal.

But more so its the dmg cleave waves that take 80% of peoples hp insta followed by a miss kick or a rng dmg wave.

Think last boss Siege of Boralus, Big octo dude,

RNG DoT followed by RNG wave splash followed by RNG slam.

If I have barkskin and Ironbark down, either someone is dying and its 70% me and 30% the dps without a great and consistent mitigation.

The problem stems from a too heavy GCD kit.

HoTs not lasting long enough.

Not enough DMG.

Lack of DMG reduction or utility.

Fixable by …

  • Efflo gives a dmg enchantment on our allies.
  • Rejuvenation and Lifebloom sit at 21 second; maybe even lifebloom hitting 30 seconds but unextendable by verdant infusion.
  • Verdant Infusion to be baseline
  • Germination to be baseline
  • Tranquility to be a one and done cast that ramps and gives 25% dmg reduction decaying in intervals as a separate aura. ( No more sitting and ramping a Tranq)
  • Cenarion Ward ← to be a ward and be a shield with 2 charges.
  • Incarnation and Convoke to be separate nodes. So we can choose them
  • Photosythesis baseline.
  • Flourish to be at 8 second HoT extension and not 4 seconds and 50% heal periodic tick.
  • Ironbark to have a 2 charge thing or some % shield thing or initial heal off cast or HoT counterpart when u trigger it. LIke idk. 20% dmg reduction seems like dog trash when you think of pain suppression and time dilation.

Wildstalker to proc off rejuvenation instead of Regrowth.
Mana to not be trash.
Maybe a 24/7 wisp or summon a keeper of the grove pet to be active to do various things rather than our nourish and grove guardian thing because its awfully and clunky designed.

Would rather have a

fae dragon → DoTs with Faerie Fire / Tosses a moonlight HoT ← Raid-Oriented

Wisp - > HoTs people with a heal shield effect and can have an active effect to do a heal channel beam to do dmg or heal whatever directed ← Mythic +

Treant - > That casts wrath or nourish <— blended mix of Mythic + / raid / PVP

IDK not all of these suggestions but definitely a great number.

When I think of a pet healer class I think of a Scholar from FFXIV, I think of the role that it has.

The Scholar shields. The pet applies HoTs.

Which I could foresee something similar to WoW.

As our Grove Guardians did the direct heals and we did the HoTs.

idk they should expand on their initial design change because even if it was lazy done it was effective.

Also I dunno why we don’t have a lust / hero yet.

I mean hunter pets lust / hero.

But apparently a humanoid shapeshifter that can inspire people with speed fails to know how to inspire people with lust / hero.

Been grinding my butt off. I can relate to boralus. However they are making our cenarion ward pretty strong it looks like it’ll be worth using.

I was able to complete a 9 last fight pretty easy on there (though couldn’t time it). You just gotta cure and make sure you’re healing until the cure is available again. Out of all the dungeons I’d say boralus is the easiest to heal.

I don’t think we need crazy things, just an overall increase a bit and also tranquility needs to not be poopy.

For tranquility I think they should do the following

make it heal more while also reducing damage by a lot while it’s active (so it can actually serve as a good ability) I like tranquility bc in the midst of a battle when my whole groups is almost dead, I can sometimes pop it and just sit back and watch them all be healed. The issue though is once I got into the harder pve content, you can’t do that. Your group just dies.

even with the upcoming buffs tomorrow it wont be enough to make Resto worth investing in. Shamans and evokers will still be 95% higher.

I think we need crazy things.

The amount of changes they have done from Dragonflight to TWW is wild and crazy.

  • Flourish Nerfed
  • Rejuvenation doesn’t last anything went from a 18 sec baseline to a 14/16 sec depending on talent optimization.
  • Rejuvenation no longer has luxuriant soil spread mechanic.
  • Grove Guardian Treants no longer are our emergency heal more of a quicker filler.
  • Master Shapeshifter is in China.
  • Liviness talent is nerfed to the ground
  • Embrace of the dream nerfed to the ground not taken
  • Invigorate nerfed to the ground not taken
  • Tanquility absolute dog no one takes in mythic +
  • New designed talents like call of the elder druid and the cenarius one. No one takes. They are awful and make you lose all the vital crap you need.

I think people need to let reality hit, Druid needs a rework. They are awful, right now.

Outdated and unmodernized.

Examples,

Early Spring PvP Talent - When the Lifebloom effect is applied, those lifeblooms cannot be extended by Flourish / Verdant Infusion. Nor do they apply Rampant Growth talent.

Power of the Archdruid - When utilized DOES NOT CLEAVE APPLY soul of the forest rejuvenation.

Regenisis - Stating increased rejuvenation healing and tranquility based off missing HP but doesn’t even express the HP values for us.

Cultivation is legit F tier and a less than 1% heal net and a near 5% uptime.

We all have to go Nelf still its BIS because Shadowmeld. WTB Druid class vanish -.-

Swiftmend consuming a HoT is so 2004 garbage.

Tranquility, I have made tons of suggestions.

It either needs to be instant cast or a cast with a 25% dmg reduce effect and heals ramp low to high. With the dmg reduce losing increments over 2 seconds.

25% - 2 sec
20% - 2 sec
15% - 2 sec
10% - 2 sec
5% - 2 sec

But ensure this is a separate aura so that it cannot be extended by flourish.

Right now, no one takes Tranquility it is that weak in Mythic + Which is crazy because it heals 100% more not in raid. So its really awful ability.

At this point Heros of the Storm Malfurion Tranquility makes Retail WoWs look like crap.

Its instant, and allows him to cast HoTs while its ramping and do dmg, lmao.

For a comparison, lets look at Disc Priest.

They press Ultimate penance, boom 6 million healing, 5 million dmg. Also, they get a shield, cause hahaha.

By the way the CD is reduced by penances.

I press Tranquility and I get a ramp over heal, and or I cancel it because mechanic hit. OH I FORGOT IT DOESN’T HEAL ANYTHING WITHOUT PRE-EMPT RAMPS LOL CAUSE MASTERY IS MEME.

Great suggestions. Unfortunately, they are invalid because the devs don’t want our critical thoughts. They only want to hear “it feels bad” from us.

The absorb that allowed crazy evoker hps in raids got nerfed by 50% so they will be far lower on the meters because of this (everyone’s over healing everything except mythic + atm)

Shamans expend a large amount of mana and cds to do the same thing rdruids do without using a single cd (maybe rng convoke) if you are prepared a single swiftmend of regrowth will heal them to full, there is a weak aura that shows what things are casting on and you can even pre bark them, this really happens when I pug my 10s each week.

I do more then my shaman does with keeper and spamming regrowths to proc 2million damage starfires that cleave and kitty boss that need single target. If I do things properly every convoke thats on a boss is doing damage. Last 10 grim I did which was a pretty healing intensive I did 287k dps without any cat form dps.

The cen ward buff is actually quite insane, it already allows you to not heal a person during huge raid/party damage and with the 40% healing increase it will be stronger then iron bark for dps during high damage phases.

Very big issue for druids rn. We have pretty much no shields. So in anything 10 + in siege of boralus the last boss you can’t heal against, he has an ability that will do full hp damage.

Your post is somewhat contradictory. You spend a large amount of time attacking someone for voicing his concerns, and besides acting high and mighty, you fail to provide useful guidance to someone clearly in need of help.

You seem to imply we are largely fine, but reality clearly states we are being overlooked. The skill cap needed to play an effective resto druids in 9 plus mythic clearly exceeds that of the average player. Is not that is impossible, is just that the challenge is too great for a game that’s supposed to be fun. Even so, in those occasions where our personal skill and RNG allows us to succeed against those odds, we still are not reliable enough due to the very flawed way our class is designed as of now.

Personally, I always strive to push my limits and try to not complain too much. This is the class/spec I have been playing for close to 20 years, and I know when we are falling behind. This reminds me very much of the beginning of Pandaria and guess what? Eventually we will be fixed.

In the mean time, try to guide your peers, not by telling them how bad they are and how good you are, but actually giving them constructive advice. God knows we have too many dbags already in game.
