Probably because for the last two expansions the designers vision failed in the way players said it would, then the designers fix it with player feedback from a year prior.
Just in time to release a new expansion with their latest flawed design.

Esports was a mistake, inviting them into the game was the biggest mistake warcraft ever did.
WoD’s everything trainwreck.
Legions artifact power/legendary train wreck.
BfA’s everything train wreck.
They have backtracked and said sorry, we should have listened to you in every single instance over the last 3 xpacs and they are repeating their mistake with covenants as well.
I agree with this
I feel like if you make a good game esports comes to you
I agree. Esports has no place in an MMO. Especially an MMO that doesn’t even care about its PvP.
Esports works for purely competitive games like Mobas, but it’s just boring and uninspired in a PvE focused game like WoW.
Don’t question, just consume product
Also implying that WoW is an artistic pursuit and not a money driven product lol
Yes and no in my opinion. I think things like MDI and AWC are fine… but they need to be clearly separate from the main game with different e-sports rules. Such that they don’t affect the main game. I’m fine with M+ for example, I just wish it wasn’t focused so much around the affixes and more around the content.
It’s a game. Games have rules. You aren’t disadvantaged, we all have the same rules. Not being able to swap one ability over and over won’t break the game. Adapt, overcome, prosper.
When all the tantrums die down people will get back to having fun again. It’s a game. If you don’t have fun and still play it, you may have an addiction.
Nothing more fun than having 3 abilities for my class that I’m just not allowed to use…because
And nearly zero achievements.
Pick your favorite. Don’t like it? Switch. You just can’t switch back without doing a couple dailies. Oh boy!
When all the tantrums die down people will rejoice because as history has shown us Blizzard will realize their mistake and fix it like they were told to by the consumers who told them it was stupid. Need proof? Go look at the last 3 expansions and see how much they didn’t listen to feedback then ended up having to eat crow because that feedback was correct.
They aren’t learning from the past and therefore they are repeating the past.
Oh yes just a couple dailies lol, they absolutely don’t have an arbitrary week long timer on them or anything.
God forbid I want to use my best ability for M+, Raiding and PvP all in the same week. Guess I’m just going to have to choose to be great in one of them and worse in the other two…because
We’re all bound by the same restrictions. You have to maximize your toon within the rules. It’s one ability.
It’s one ability
Yeah, lets look at the DK ones. Where one of their abilities makes their D&D blue, and another one that gives them multiple grips.
Totally not going to make a massive difference in your performance in PvP lol
Shame they didn’t just make this a new talent row, since they are just talents with an arbitrary restriction put on them.
You are either stupid or being intentionally dense to not understand why this is a bad philosophy in a game that has multiple specs for each class and multiple ways to play the game that are separate from each other and require different playstyles and setups.
So you are saying it’s ok that blizzard will be, in a nutshell, forcing you to have multiple characters of the same class just to play the different aspects of the game such as raiding, M+, pvp, etc.
Video games are absolutely art. Their a culmination of several art styles including music, visual, literature and emotional. Here are the two definition of art when google’d:
the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.
the various branches of creative activity, such as painting, music, literature, and dance.
Art doesn’t necessarily have to be “observed” in the visual sense. It can be heard through music, created in one’s own mind through literature, experienced through the emotional connection you get with a certain piece.
The World of Warcraft is literally created by multiple people from all aspects of what is considered art. WoW has a unique visual experience intertwined with storytelling and sounds that bring out certain emotions not otherwise experienced. This experience was created by others for you to perceive in your own way much like a visual painting, only with several more layers added into the masterpiece in progress. WoW is art; Video games are most certainly art.
It’s one ability. It won’t prevent you from doing anything.
Mythic N’Zoth was beaten by people in 460 gear with rank six cloaks and minimal corruptions. They were far from maxed out, yet beat the game.
So you are saying that people shouldn’t try to play to the very best of their ability unless they are among the most elite in the world? Nobody should try and do their best in the content that they choose to do?
