Request: Clarity on Boost help pages

Hi Customer Support!

I have an open ticket but I want to send in a note to ask you to change the wording of the character boost help pages. The “long story short” is that an RAF link never happened on an account that already had TWW and game time added and there was no way to fix it so the rep refunded the TWW and game time. However, that happened before I could either transfer out or otherwise prepare the boosted character I played to the new account with RAF finished.

To preserve the character I had been playing, I re-purchased TWW and game time for that account (knowing it was going to go away anyway) but the character was locked anyway. This is when I found the problematic help page:

“To unlock the character, you need to purchase a new character boost from the World of Warcraft in-game shop. After your purchase is complete, click the lock next to your character to apply the boost and this will automatically unlock it.”

My TWW upgrade boost would not allow me to select the character, so I went ahead and bought ANOTHER boost because that help page said a boost needed to be purchased from the in-game shop (and nothing about how an upgrade boost can or can’t be used or that it may not allow the boost at all.)

Can you update the help page to clarify whether a character boost included with an expansion update will or will not unlock a character?

Now we’re in a mess where yesterday’s CS rep told me to use one of the boosts on a brand new character which will then be deleted so it can be refunded and that will unlock the character. I did that, and while I was typing this a new response came in " the boost you used for Anakity was the one provided by the purchase of TWW and that makes a new problem because you should used the other unused boot you still have." I had no idea I could pick which boost was used, since they just showed up as two available boosts.

Oh look! My TWW was refunded, I have no available boosts, and my boost was used on that new character I was instructed to create and boost but do not want to keep! Back to the ticket queue for me.

tl;dr: The boost page has incomplete and inaccurate information on unlocking characters.

This is not a place for feedback, unfortunately, as our SFAs have nothing to do with that particular caveat. You’ll want to post it over here.

Thank you. I posted it here to share the feedback but also to see if I obviously did something wrong or was instructed to do something wrong.

I posted the feedback here:
Request: fixing the wording of the locked boost page - Support Site Feedback - Blizzard Forums

I find it odd that the forum area that is all about improving the support site doesn’t allow you to post links to the support site. I’ll submit that feedback too.

Have a good one!

Try sandwiching the link in question between two ` marks.

it's a little workaround for those whose trust levels aren't high enough to post links.
