Reported. Reported! Gah

Having a conversation on a forum… dedicated to conversation and the expression of thoughts and opinions… means I’m huffing and puffing?

Would you like to rethink this post?

Or I’m making valid points. Read the comment above, because it now applies to you as well.

Ooooo the witty rejoinders and (not so) veiled insults.

Consider you and I live in totally different realities. You understand what you want, who you are, and you feel you have a handle on the “Big 'ol wurl” out there. What you fail to consider is that not everyone lives in your shoes. Not everyone needs to shuck 'n jive with their homies, and not everyone needs to F-bomb every third word for impact. While many, yes, many people swear when they are in private social situations, most of us understand that there are others in the world who do not appreciate it. For that matter, I am making yet ANOTHER assumption that you more than likely do not respect people enough to care. That is the difference between you and yours, and some of us who just don’t appreciate disrespectful behavior.

But I gots pizza, Corn Dogs and Donuts!

Is this a slant against minorities? Is this the first thing that comes to mind when you think of people swearing? Why would you write this up?

No, but if they want to, it doesn’t hurt you a bit. It doesn’t hurt me a bit.

I understand that people communicate in different ways, and swearing, not one of the worst ways.

Which is why your points are so incredibly unrealistic. Because you start with assumptions and then go on tangents.

Oh, who are my people? Do tell.

Oh my… you know the way to a girl’s heart.

Yes.

The reaction is not proportional to the reality. Normal people should click the OK button and be done with it. Not turn it into this thing.

Debating the logistics of the social contract is a waste of time. nothing more. sorry it troubles you.

Just voicing my opinions in a thread about a topic that I didn’t start or create. By your own logic, you’re just as upset as I am.

No, it’s human nature to discuss things, because we are social creatures, for better or worse. You assuming that I’m upset because I have a different opinion, just makes you sound a bit foolish, no offense.

Agreed.

Very suspicious to me when people get upset about it. Like… how were you planning to act? If you weren’t planning to be an idjit… what do you care?

It’s just giving me the same energy as “Well I guess we can’t even say hi to women anymore or they will accuse us of sexual harassment.”

Farting is required in most raids over 10 people, yes?

There, see?? You have been carrying a discussion without one bit of profane language.

You know, you can actually respond to me if you have something to say. I’m right here. :face_with_peeking_eye:

You talking about the emote? I don’t use the emote. I think the emote is silly. What happens outside the game, remains outside the game.

If I have something that needs to be said in a situation, it’s going to be said. We’re talking about a game that one day will be discontinued. Words are more forever; WoW as we know it WON’T be. I think that means that this game and its developers have less weight than what they really have, and I’m not trying to be flippant to them.

Because you’re going to remember those social moments a lot more stronger. In fact, isn’t that the common reason why people stick with an MMO? It’s because it’s where their FRIENDS(“friends”) are? That’s why I think that punishment for reportable offenses mean practically nothing in the long term. I got pinched for 3 days a few years ago during BFA for saying certain things to a certain DK, and you’ll gauge my regret for it at some 0%.

My 3 days would be a thimble’s worth compared to the IMPACT my words would have had, that one person dared to speak up.

And Tacitus would be throwing parties as he famously said about how deserts are made and called peace. Any action that puts someone out of the game is a risk of making the MMO smaller and more galvanized to a type of community. Previous MMOs have not been successful because they couldn’t go beyond their own comfort zone. I would think that if it’s in the best interests of all that there are as many active subs as possible, the punishments should be very lenient.

I agree.

And, I’m not saying people shouldn’t be punished for being vile, but that’s why the ignore function and swear filter exist. People could already actively silence bad actors, but now it’s not enough, now they also need to punish them. Which, to some extent is also fine, but this emboldens the hyper-caring and trolls… two groups of people I have almost nothing in common with.

I hate to break it to you, but dropping an f bomb in chat has all of zero impact on anyone.

New reporting system is actually worse than before tbh, and I’m not even talking about all the false reports/abuse or the automated stuff… I’m talking about the actual buttons themselves

Takes like 2-3 dialog prompts to report someone now, whereas before it was a simple [ right click ] —> report

This is especially true for trying to remove afk players from a BG or LFR. There’s 2 “Report player” buttons, and then each one of these buttons has it’s own different “dropdown” menu, and then once you’ve opened the correct one you click on “gameplay sabotage”, and then finally you’re presented with the option to report for “AFK/non-participation”

So in a BG/PvP setting, when I’m in danger or actively being chased down by enemy players, I have to divert my attention and use of my mouse away to “navigate” this new reporting menu :joy:

Oh, no I rarely use emotes. I am talking about that subtle (or not so) background noise on Teamspeak or Discord :innocent:

I would rather hear farting than eating, not gonna lie.

whenever you call them out on it, you hurt their pride and then they have to sit there and explain to you why they’re right because they just know better.

it’s annoying

The sprinkling sound of meatball residue hitting the mic…

Loud breathing is pretty bad too. Raided with a guy back in Firelands that made his push to talk the same button as his dispel. Every raid “Tyler stop dispelling.” was probably the most common sentence spoken.
