Tiktok video of a man sleeping with 4 cheetahs proves there is no such thing as safe spaces.
So you feel any sort of action taken or consequences suffered by someone who reports you, always, 100%, is your fault, no exception, no discussion, no margin of error or possible reason of concern? Never in this history of this game, past, present, or future, has any account action or decision been reevaluated, rescinded, replaced, or altered? No innocent person has even been unreasonably inconvenienced or had to deal with obstacles or issues that shouldnât have hit them?
I think itâs amusing you like to harass me after Iâve explained myself repeatedly back when you continued to harass me on your warrior. You should give it a rest.
Thatâs just how alphas roll, yo.
If I had not been stupid, I never would have been reported. If I play by the rules I will never BE reported, and if I get reported, I know I have nothing to worry about whereas the person who falsely reported me will likely end up in some watch list for false reports and eventually suffer their own stupidity if Blizzard decides to react to their âboy who cried wolfâ scenarios.
If you do something that violates the rules of the game, and someone with a grudge sees it and reports you, Blizzard doesnât care about that playerâs grudge. Their motivations are irrelevant. The only thing that matters is whether the rules were violated.
So no one makes mistakes, ever, not if itâs you. If you got in trouble, it is your deal, your own making.
Even Blizzard admits, while it rare, while it is NOT the norm, there has been errors, there has been mistakes, and they can be corrected. So if you really feel that way, thatâs your right.
I disagree with it on pretty much all fundamental levels and aspects, but I do respect others rights and viewpoints.
I hate to say this, but that is how the world has always worked. Social clubs, private rooms after dinner that people âretire toâ, members only organizations, etc.
What we say in public around strangers has always been limited by common social standards, with the expectation that we will be shunned or penalized somehow if we break those standards. Those change over time and for different societies, but the concept is the same. What is ok for one person is not ok for another.
Now, in private all sorts of things go on, and that is where people âlet their hair downâ so to speak.
Such has it ever been.
Ignore is limited and you canât put all that many on it. Ignore is especially used for people who repeatedly contact you that you donât want to talk to. Going around Ignore is Ongoing Harassment.
People should not have to use Ignore or anything else in public channels - as the game rules are pretty clear what is supposed to be going on.
Feel free to post on the CS forum and I am sure they will be happy to enlighten you about the nature of your infraction. Did you break the rules? If so, you deal with the penalty. If not, you appeal and they lift it.
The game rules since 2004 have not allowed profanity. Period. Some people break the rules, so parents have the option to use a filter. It does not give you permission to swear.
If I named myself bigdaddyd**k, I KNOW this name is vulgar and in violation, and deserve the consequences. However, if I name myself Beastmaster, I am not violating anything other than an RP realm naming convention and would deserve a name change knowing RP realms work differently. But, if I name myself Howard, on a PvE realm, and get reported, I would certainly be curious to see the reasoning in the Blizz punishment email and contest it as necessary. If I say, âListen palâŚâ and get reported, they will do nothing, but since I KNOWINGLY understand profanity and vulgarity are not acceptable, just as they have been for 18 years in game and this forum, if I instead said, âListen up MFerâŚâ, I would expect some level of retribution from Blizz. This is NOT a difficult concept:
Show respect, get respect. Show your @** and have it handed to you with a temp/perm ban. Again, zero sympathy for those who willingly push the naming and language threshold because they think themselves special⌠and they are wrong.
It boils down to this, if someone in game offends you, they get suspended, the end.
Lots of people offend me. Weirdly they have never been suspended.
All the more reason to not really have an ignore limit, I mean really its not 2004 anymore, make it 999 or something. And yes, thats how the world worked, with its flaws, and all. WoW wasnât ment to be the world. It was ment to be the world âOf Warcraftâ. A different place entirely, an escape if you will. And maybe thats how WoW is now, just like the normal world, with itâs many policies, regulations and system gaming and abuses and exploits, along with its greater control of bad actions and behaviors. And maybe thatâs what some people wanted.
But none the less, a tone, and feeling has changed, even if the rules themselves have not. And its okay not to agree or be happy about the negative effects perceived. But thank you. I have said this like⌠4 times, but I mean it. Thank you for not being insulting or mocking, I have gotten replies that are arrogant and dismissive, I have to commend when someone acts with civility. Even if someone is right on something, if they are unkind and unpleasant, it undermines their entire side of discussion.
One could argue that the escape for some is from the harshness of the real world and people acting like jerks in game just makes it like real life.
And⌠that is a reasonable point. A balance between being controlled in your speech to protect others, and the freedom to relax and express yourself, itâs not an easy answer on either side of the issue. Itâs just unfortunate, that some, take advantage of the situation, for their own ends. People who disagree with me are not bad for doing so, and people who agree are not good for just agreeing with me. All I can do is share my concerns for the game, its rules, and what some can do, rightly, or wrongly, with the tools at their disposal.
This x1000. I play the game to relax, not deal with some bozo who reminds me of the bozo I work with, or the bozos I have to tolerate on a daily basis. Some of us just want like minded nerds who can have fun without being toxic, or trolling for our own amusement.
I love a story with happy ending!
I agree. I never tolerate anyone unkind or obnoxious, I ignore them and just try to be kind and to enjoy my day.
In the end, everyone is entitled to feel however way they feel⌠I just think the paranoia (not you specifically) is just over the top.
Be a decent egg and you will be fine. Do mistakes happen and people get wrongfully punished? Sure. But Blizzard is more than willing to accept appeals and overturn punishments when warranted. Just the whole schtick of âguess we just canât even talk anymore or we will get bannedâ is just way WAY over the top.
Again, not directed at you, or anyone specifically⌠just how I feel.
But why should your zen and relaxation of playing a game with friends/family/etc have to suffer because some guy is railing on in Trade chat about body parts, politics, and innuendos? The enforcement of this code after 18 long years will finally help make it a more appropriate play space for ages ranging from PG - MA level standards, but it can be a warm and inviting game that allows different people from around the world, who have different standards and lifestyles to feel welcome, and not just a passenger on the League of Legends âLiteâ Train.
And yes, I do agree some really do blow things out of proportion, its not the end of the world, or of Warcraft. 99% of the time, if you really acted just fine, you will be just fine. You may have to handle the quelch and the emails and talking to a GM and so on, but nothing lasting. People are losing sleep, spamming threads, and preaching endlessly about it.
Itâs a concern, and good to voice it, but not to flip out and dedicate your entire mind and day to.
