Renaming Warlock Pets in WoW Classic?

I deleted my Warlock several times because he chose a crappy imp as his companion. I’m still lvl 5 as a result.

I thought Rulpit for my imp was bad but I think that’s worse. At least my VW has a decent name.

Bump for warlock justice!

My imp is jubpep. I haven’t bothered getting the VW as I don’t intend on using him atm. I’m lvl 15 so no succ yet

Oh please. Blizzard is barely active in policing the community anymore. Look at some of the guild names and character names that probably should be renamed, i.e. referencing drugs, or in one case on my server someone named their character “Childmolesto”. They’re still running around with that name. Don’t forget all the foul language in general chats that is no longer addressed, either.

Yeah, I get what you are saying, but if you have a problem with people’s names or guild names, you need to report them and Blizzard does look into it and take appropriate action once they get to that report. Just look at the threads you see on occasion from people complaining about having to change their name, guild name, etc.

The population is booming right now so I’m sure they have a long line of reports that will definitely take them some time to get to.

I rarely report, but I did report a guild name on my realm yesterday. It was horrible. “Sapped Girls Cant Say No.” Yeah, that shouldn’t be allowed, now should it?

I agree not to change their names but what gives the Warlock the power is simply because they enslave them to do their bidding.

Surely that’s more power than you need to change a name if you can shackle them to your very will.

That said no changes.

To be clear, this isn’t renaming the demon, like you can a hunter pet.

This was merely just deleting your old pet and getting a new one. The name would still be entirely created from the pet name generator

my belf’s voidwalker got the best name for a belf female warlock pet - mezzthang. you cant make that up. the stars aligned on that one.

what server are you on?

edit: mezzthang is my classic gnome warlocks vw name as well. lol

my belf? shes on area 52. on classic? westfall and atiesh. so far. hehe

Holy crap my demons name are bad. I mean effin abysmal. It’s even worse when I run around and see other warlock pets and they have cool names then I look at my demon and just smh. I was going to spec SM/Ruin but nah, going to go DS/Ruin and sacrifice my demon perpetually. I summoned you just to sacrifice you because your name is damn terrible. I mean I know it’s classic, but a way to rename warlock pets would be awesome.

Seriously though, what would be cool is if everytime you sacrificed your demon a different one replaces it. If it dies in battle, or lags out, then it goes back to the twisting nether or wherever they come from. But if you sacrifice it, that’s it. Dead and not coming back. New applicant please.

It’s all fun and games until your imp is named Ruprin and people are making jokes about EXTRA STRENGTH ruprin, vs prescription strength ruprin.

My Imp’s name is meh but I somehow got Bardock the father of Goku for my Voidwalker.

That function was added after Blizzard disabled the old script command to abandon pets. The original command was:

/script PetAbandon();

Unfortunately it does look like the script is still disabled, as I was unable to summon my Void Walker with a new name, though the script did instantly dismiss my pet.

I believe that it should have been returned as a function as it worked all through the original game and there is no other way to try for another name other than to delete the character and start over which I have done more than once because I hated my imp’s name. It also meant you lost any grimores you had purchased for the pet as well, so if you used it after you had the demon for any length of time it could be expensive.

For anyone complaining about the storyline reasoning, don’t think of it as renaming the demon but dismissing the original and summoning a new demon in its place.

The script was something I didn’t know about, but I thought the actual vanilla beta let warlocks name their demons until shortly before release, when they changed it for lore and flavor reasons?

There is a way to rename them; delete your character and try again.

I had an Undead Warlock at some point. She got a Voidwalker named Krakthang. I deleted that character. :stuck_out_tongue:

How is that in any way reasonable? Especially in Classic where it could take someone days, if not weeks, to acquire all of their demons. What is worse is if you happen to get two or three decent names and the others are awful.

You could for a while. Then they fixed it. It was fixed in Vanilla before 1.12. So, no, you don’t get to fish for a demon name you liked.

I was hoping you could also demonic sacrifice your pet, goblin jumper cable them back to life and stack the DS and MD buffs. That was also fixed before 1.12, so I doubt that’s still around either.
