Can I have your gold?
I think pathfinder is objectively unhealthy for the game. Not sure if anyone can argue with that.
It prevents developers being able to develop the game around the availability of a mechanic.
We’ve seen with areas like Storm Peaks just what the devs are able to do when given freedom to design around the concept of players having access to flying.
All due respect the guys who made Wrath aren’t developing WoW anymore. The modern team has problems with flight in general.
Why would I care? New players and returners will get more motivation to play wow. We still got the mouth and travel speed bonus that they won’t get unless they bother doing it. It’s been years since we’ve has pathfinder.
What were you gonna do instead?
(Commentary): Relieved. Potential new players will no longer be turned off by absurd time gating in content that has long since stopped being relevant. I wish they’d remove it for BFA and Shadowlands and all future expansions as well. Anything to help encourage new players is a good move in my opinion.
I have done in three times lately: I have done WoD, Legion and BFA pathfinder in the time since BFA was released.
Who cares? Let people have fun.
Yeah, you walked uphill to school in the snow both ways gramps, now you have the right to grumble about it to the kids, but don’t make them do it.
I’m fine with it.
Helps new people level faster through those areas which might attract more people, and they only get the rewards if they actually DO Pathfinder.
My guess is you missed the part where you only get the achievement (and the mount reward) if you do Pathfinder in those places? Amirite?
Oh I understand, but that doesn’t change the fact that it imposes a limitation on the game design that they don’t need to have.
At the end of the day though the game either needs to be grounded or accept flying as a game mechanic otherwise it just hinders it’s potential.
The way it is at the moment they just have to embrace it imo.
No it’s not. people are being such babies about this. I got both and could care less if anyone gets it for free. It’s OLD CONTENT. The point of getting pathfinder is to be able to fly during current content.
I’m fine with it.
A) This is a first world problem
B) It’s happening, so having a little whine about it on the forums changes nothing
and C) It says volumes about the type of player if they’re getting upset that a time sink they did is now going to be removed, but said player feels others should suffer as they did.
Can we just have account wide flight and stop making pathfinder achievements period?
It prevents people from returning and finding new intrest in the game every expansion when dealing with current content.
You want to keep flying off till patch .706553367 what ever each expansion? Fine; but stop making us do everything quest and rep in the game to get it every go around.
Blizzard has never made the case that pathfinder deserves to exist and they have had three expansions to prove it to us.
Let the whole scheme die already.
This is such elegantly simple logic, it is beyond argument.
We should not have to do anything in new expansions to enable flight when we already know how to fly. If they wish to place limitations on it due to gaming requirements (such as areas they do not wish us to fly over at one time) then provide reasons for it that make sense.
An example: We cannot fly in Bastion because there is a condition in the sky that would destroy us if we tried to fly at X level. They tell us about this and say “You will need to achieve Y level and collect a Z of Z so that the danger from the act of flight is removed.”
If necessary, make it that way for every character, until all zones are clear and revealed, at which point we undertake a separate action that links all the zones together and gives opens flight account wide for the expansion.
I would not find that onerous and it would, at least, make a degree of sense.
the path opener achievement should never have existed
Posting in a skinwalker thread.
Yo dude, those expansions were like I dunno…6 years ago total…get over it.
Translation: Already got mine. Screw new or returning players.
It should have never been a thing. You wont find much support for the pathfinder system.
I’m ok with it. I slogged through the pathfinders. I couldn’t imagine doing it on non-current content. I think it’s a good move on Blizzards part.
I love it and I wish Pathfinder didn’t exist anymore. I’d rather go back to the old days of buying flying with gold, or at least make the requirements for Pathfinder just doing the main story quests and exploration achievements.
