Removing LFD from Wrath and Restricting Dual Spec is a Bad Decision

I’m not sure what metrics Blizzard is relying upon to undo LFD from WotLKC, but all this does is place us right where we are now in TBCC regarding dungeons:

  • Authentic low level dungeon runs are nearly non-existent, even on large population servers
  • Of the few low level dungeon runs that do exist, they are limited to the most convenient and/or XP efficient runs. Alliance aren’t bothering with SFK, BFD, RFK, RFD, etc.
  • Anyone doing dungeons regularly is just buying a boost
  • At max level there are constant needs for Healers and Tanks to do the runs, with people often spamming for hours for particularly unpopular instances
  • Tanks are at such a premium they can charge a fee and/or reserve loot and freely get away with it because the market bears it thanks to the lack of incentive to go
  • Large servers have prompted the creation of LFG-lite addons to track the nonstop spam as the in-game LFG tool currently in place for TBCC goes mostly unused.

Players aren’t going to form better communities if we don’t add LFG, they’re going to continue spam running 5mans in P1 with only guildies, and then never touch them again, while anyone catching up later has to hope for an equally slow progression guild to join or pick up scraps of alts. Couple this with the apparently very sped up progression of patches and people left behind are going to simply struggle to really do much of anything.

On top of this… this just sucks. For two “expansions” worth of content any suggested change was met with a wall of “no” about maintaining the authenticity. People cried about spell batching being removed, people griped about Alliance Paladins getting Wrath-era seals, etc. So far, it had been only adding new features out of sync with the old system, or removing old limitations. Now Blizzard is introducing a change that goes backwards, rather than forwards.

What else is Blizzard going to remove from Wrath? Our prior assumption was that at least we’d get all of the baselines of the expansion but we can’t make that assumption anymore.

If we get a Cata Classic does that mean LFR never comes into existence? Does xmog disappear? Reforging? Do talents get revamped and we have 71pt deep trees? Do we even get a Cata Classic at all? If we didn’t get these things would it even be Cata Classic?

This entirely sours my expectations for the expansion.

EDIT: And if Blizzard is getting this nonsense from the same posters that openly hate Wrath, Cata, etc, they need to stop. Permanent era servers and SoM exist for anyone wanting to stay in the “good ol’ days” of whatever expansion they loved best. Don’t retrograde future Classic expansions with antiquated garbage like this.

EDIT2: While I have no intention of playing an LFD-less Wrath Classic, it should be noted that this will be the consequence:

EDIT3: Dual Spec will likely be in WoTLK Classic

They’re “nervous” about Dual Spec because it creates disincentives for hybrid specs so they want to add restrictions but don’t think they’ll scrap it entirely. No one plays hybrid specs now, because hybrid specs suck. I have no idea what the crap anyone is thinking over there now.

They are removing LFD?!

ROFL.

This. Trying to appease die-hard purists that are largely already aligned against WotLK on principle is nonsense. Let that faction of players be happy with their 1.12 private servers.

Ion even threw in a “if you want that kind of grouping, that’s on Retail” comment.

But hey! Pre-patch DKs and extra barbershop options! Wooooo…

Someone call that Shaman, he’s likely in shambles.

They’re unironically making Wrath bad so that players will shift to retail, which is shining right now.

They just didnt want to put the work in to make it work most likely. No other reason than their laziness to not include.

It’s like he’s reading the forums.

I wonder which “go to Retail you Retail loser” alt he is…

I’m actually considering not bothering with wotlk due to this

Honestly I was going to unsubscribe but if they make changes to wrath and fix it, like this?

Maybe I play after all.

If changes like these continue to happen, I just won’t play.

Same, rdf was a feature I was really looking forward to. They are so out of touch.

I can’t play wrath without the rfd

If changes like this continue (imagine they delete trial of the crusader too!) I actually may play.

I feel like they don’t even play the game. Finding a dungeon group as a non-meta class is a frustrating and completely unredeemable experience. Why on earth they think it’s a good idea to continue that experience in Wrath tells me they aren’t playing TBC at all.

KEEP DUNGEON FINDER!

Can we stop pretending the community of wow is as social as it was over a decade ago? I hit 70 a couple weeks ago and I haven’t been invited to a single dungeon or raid. It’s really depressing as I’m in my thirties playing a rereleased mmo.

I just canceled both my subscriptions. If they actually solve the server population problems I might look at coming back in Wrath, but I don’t see the playerbase improving things on their own.

It wouldn’t even make sense to do it since those bosses exist already with loot tables and whatnot. They could tie-in the skipped Azjol-Nerub content to it and I’d be down for that, make it a properly long raid, etc.

But don’t remove outright. I actually enjoyed jousting and doing the tournament dailies.

Wrong little one. They are not removing it. They are just not gonna implement it in the first place
