Removing bonus rolls is a good thing

This ham strings high end guilds because they can’t just funnel loot as easy and blast through the content and have a mile wide gap between you and them

So… you think it’s better to trade a 1/4 shot at what I actually really want, for a 1/35 shot at getting it and a bonus 5/35 shot at a minor upgrade. Ok. LoL.

Actually yes. That’s why you’re here.

There were no threads on the forum asking for the removal of bonus rolls, just as there were no threads on the forum during Legion asking for removal of Master Loot.

They make changes to the game according to their master plan which they think will change the game for the better and improve its longevity and health. Or at least short term profits. They pretty much ignore player feedback, especially when it doesn’t exist.

I’ll quote myself to add the last part of my post:

Guaranteed loot that will be useful until you have a mode on farm > A high chance at no loot/useless loot.

They didn’t remove PvP in Legion. Templates were highly unpopular, but PvP was still there and players still did it. RBG’s were still popular. Now they are pretty much dead.

You have no guarantee that the vault loot will be useful. Don’t @ me when players start posting screenshots where the 3-4 available options are all down/side grades.

But hey, I’m excited to kill 10 bosses, do 10 keys, and 30 arenas at 2.1k all for the chance that 1 of the 9 items is an upgrade…

I don’t want to clear any, but blizzard insists on putting bis items into raids, which with bonus rolls I could go once and get lucky rolling on the specific boss I wanted a thing from.

Now I have to kill more bosses to get a chance at an item from a pool of more items.

Point is, the new situation is worse than the current situation.

Is especially worse for m+ because instead of trying for an extra chance at one dungeon’s nice item, I’m hoping the chest gives that item from more options.

Bonus roll provided a better target chance.

I’ll survive but it’s worse.

minor chances? Longest stretch i’ve ever had was 6 rolls with no loot. That’s alot, but still. Especially because you can force it on one particular boss if you’re smart and roll the low chance ones on other bosses.

Which beats the chance to get the cape over and over and over and over from the drop, because the next time you bonus roll successfully on him, you are GUARANTEED to get it.

Even without bonus rolls, loot will still rain from the sky. Do not have to tryhard that much

It will be useful until you have your character fleshed out with mostly raid loot. Just think for a moment. First week of raiding opens up, by the end of week 1 your character may only have 1 or 2 epics from the raid? If that. So the odds of all 3 items being worthless is pretty low.

But as you get into week 4, 5 and 6 etc. That’s when you might only be missing one or two items, at which point then the Great Vault becomes less reliable at rewarding items you need, at least until you start going to the next difficulty of raiding, at which point it’s like you’re back to week 1 again, since there’s no titanforging, which means any item from a higher raid difficulty is going to be better than the ones you’re wearing at that moment.

The less is more crowd seems like the up is down crowd. Not too surprising that so many WoW players naively are jumping to embrace the logic of the rich (elites) hook, line and sinker. Just look at irl trends.

If your job is playing WoW for 8 hours a day every work day, gear won’t be a problem. But less gear really means less gear for the average player.

No, you’re not. Bad luck protection only increases the chance that you get loot. It does not guarantee that you get the item you want. Bad Luck protection has not changed since it was added in Patch 5.3.0

If you kill a boss that only has a 25% chance of rewarding items that you want. Bonus rolling and getting loot you don’t need doesn’t remove those items from the bonus roll loot table. The chances of getting the item that you want doesn’t increase.

Whenever you use a bonus roll and you don’t get any loot, your chance of getting loot on the next roll will increase. This increased probability won’t be reset until some loot is awarded, and this is independent of the boss that is being killed. The bad luck streak protection will carry over and continue to increase the probability from boss to boss and instance to instance and won’t reset until you get some loot. Basically, this feature treats all bonus rolls as if they were actually the same, no matter where they originate from.

It allowed you to get loot far to quickly.

They literally said the Great Vault is it.

That is their “creative way”. Less overall control over your loot while introducing a new grind.

It only gives you 3 choices if you kill 10 bosses, which is a full clear. If you do your full clear on Heroic, you only get 213s, not 226s.

If you don’t have a mode on farm, you’re not getting 3 pieces of loot to choose from.

The great vault doesn’t include raid loot though?

The items that were power spikes this tier were Coral, Font, Raden Weapon and Nzoth tank trinket.

Just another nail in the coffin. :coffin:

Btw, are players getting more or less gear in Shadowlands per m+ run?

Yes.

1 choice for 1 boss kill, 2 choices for 4, 3 for 10 boss kills.

So when you get CE 10/10M, you’ll finally get your 3rd choice of 226 loot.

I don’t need to. I just know your opinion is wrong.

True actually, just looked a bit more into the great vault.

1 less piece than currently.
