Remove World Buffs From Raids

oh hey, thats handy, thank you.

What is the default settings for those?

I’m not really sure, I think it gets set back to default whenever you relog, I’ve never changed it since I started using them and the game looks the same to me

People want these kind of things removed because they feel it impacts them in a negative way…at the same time they don’t mind it being removed for the people that it effects in a positive way.

You lot serious?

Ofc it does. Worldbuff litteraly transform you into a killing machine lol

Who is truly impacted in a positive way by world buffs? Tryhard PvE guilds would be equally competitive with or without the buffs, the meta would be different but not better or worse really. Does anyone genuinely feel that their game experience is improved by gathering buffs before each raid?

i see
its a semantic argument
if only he could’ve prevented his words from being misinterpreted, you would’ve responded very differently to what he was saying

Probably not, why would 40 people spend that time if it did?

/facepalm

Because it’s expected? Because it needed to perform on the same level as others? Because its the current meta?

Doesn’t mean it actually improves the game or enjoyment.

I 100% agree. There is a toxic obsession with world buffs that ruins the raiding experience. World buffs were NOT intended to be a part of raids.

REMOVE WORLD BUFFS

People are too afraid of changes in classic, but truth is most of them are likely to make the game more enjoyable.

I think world buffs should be nerfed but not removed, since they still play an important whole on making people interact and work together, also promoting world pvp etc.

In addition to that i am all in favor of buffing the content and making it harder, but i am a minority i guess.

So you found exactly what you were looking for, but decided to post as if you hadn’t?

Yes, I imagine it would be difficult to find a guild that says no world buffs allowed. Saying you can get them if you want but they aren’t mandatory is plenty reasonable, and very common.

You are right, the game would be better off with out the world buffs, its why they removed them in TBC, and here is a secondary question.

What constitutes a world buff? Is it a firewater? Is it a Juju might? or does it need to be like Ony, DMF, Diremaul tribute, Neff, ZG or Warchief’s Blessing?

Just curious on your interpretation?

What if, when you zone into an instance the process of zoning just clears all your non class buffs?

My personal interpretation would be that it’s anything you can’t obtain during the raid. Any class buffs, consumables etc can all be obtained during the raid so it shouldn’t be considered a world buff. Which seems to be the colloquial usage as well.

There is slop in that thought to drive a semantic buss through it.
Not that i disagree, but i think it could be worded more clearly.

i.e Consumables you can place in your bag and use them at any point ( given the limits of their cooldowns ) you desire.
A world buff you have to be in a specific place when an event happens.

Though i sort of would class the UBRS FR buff as a world buff it isnt super major imo.

UBRS buff is actually really strong on broodlord and firemaw. You don’t need it, but it will help a lot.

So anything you can pack into your bags like the other guy said. That’s a sensible approach.

Oh it’s pretty win for those and still decent on vael, but it’s not on the same level as the others. [quote=“Khlause-kurinnaxx, post:160, topic:543388, full:true”]

True, it’s by no means rallying cry, or ZG buff.

This is a really dumb argument. 40 people spend that time because it’s required to be competitive, and the competition is what drives their enjoyment of the game. If the buffs were removed, raiding would be no less fun for folks who enjoy competitive PvE; there would simply be fewer chores required each week prior to entering the raid. For most semi-hardcore players the game experience would be substantially improved in fact, since raid logging would no longer be required and everyone could enjoy actively playing their mains before raid time while still remaining fully competitive for parses and clear times. Raids would also be more fun on the whole, since a single wipe no longer means everyone’s night is ruined from losing buffs.

I agree with this as well. Keeping consumables in the game would preserve the spirit of vanilla raiding, where the design principle emphasizes effort and preparation moreso than mechanics. Consumables also make the open world more active, since players are actively spending time farming mats, Jujus, etc. They also strike the right balance of penalizing raid teams for wipes (a full consumable refresh is very expensive especially for melee) while not ruining a raid night because of one mistake.
