They’re a joke to obtain now, they are just a time sync that also happens to necessitate a weekly ritual of getting them before raid, or getting them in advance of the raid and logging off to preserve them.
Whitemane might actually be less of a disaster if people weren’t constantly crutching on world buffs.
WBs cheese the content making it insanely easy. It also promotes bad behaviors.
People want to talk about how this is supposed to be a vanilla like experience but raids felt so much harder to do back then and a lot of the reason is because there wasn’t such an extensive WB meta like there is now. I said it before if they’re not going to remove WBs completely then buff the content to a reasonable level. The much easier solution is to remove WBs and kill the toxic behavior that goes with it. Things also felt much harder back then because we didn’t know the game like we do now but combine that with the WBs and its too easy.
Yea, everything has been datamined and min-maxxed to death over 15 years in vanilla and on pservers. Its actually mindblowing that people think the ease of content is largely due to world buffs, and not the fact that we’re working with 15 years of collective knowledge vs totally unknown, brand new content.
Also, the “it promotes bad behavior” “it promotes toxic behavior” argument is a terrible one. You have the choice of playing on a PVP or PVE server for a reason. If you find pvp server behavior toxic, then transfer to a PVE server where this wont be an issue.
To add to this if you are in a guild that require it then find a new guild that doesnt. OP needs to stop trying to force others to change to benefit themselves
It is relevant because we’re going through the exact cycle that got them removed in the first place except faster. World buff usage wasn’t wide spread until players had better access to them in TBC. When they did they saw a quick nerf. In classic world buff usage is wide spread immediately due to increased server populations.
Do you see the parallel?
The argument that world buffs aren’t the reason fights are easy while true is either ignorance to just how hard the fights are being cheesed or simply no desire to play anything even remotely similar to vanilla in the first place.
I love classic, but if the game can be more true to vanilla (which blizzard has repeatedly stated is their intention with many of the changes that have been made) then I will love it even more.
What you’re asking for is a change in player mentality and behavior. This cannot and will not happen. You will never have a 100% true to life recreation because people’s attitudes and approaches to the game arent the same. Thats not something blizzard can patch out.
Not true. If blizzard removed world buffs from raids players (myself included) wouldn’t be doing mid to late burning crusade damage in vanilla. That is easily patched out and it actually was patched out on many private servers.
TL;DR of string. “no changes” was inherently dead the minute Blizz announced they’d be using v1.12 and mega servers. This opened a can of worms of unintended consequences that leads to behaviors that were not prominent and/or non-existent in vanilla.
v1.12 trivialized the raid content difficulty and WB stacking just exacerbates the issue further.
I’d personally be okay if they were scratched all together as they provide a net negative to the overall experience in their current state unless Blizz can find a way to make it more vanilla-like (like they did with the Lotus).
This would be a good argument if this was a single player game. In a competitive game (mmos by design, one way or another you have to interact with others) you cannot simply disregard and entire aspect of the game.
The content is easy enough that if a guild wanted to ignore them they could still clear content. Some players like to push themselves and thats fine. People need to stop advocating to change how others play just to serve their own interests
There’s similar undercurrents for all the other posts calling for changes, and they’re using any points they can to justify why this issue is the one that has to get changed.
I’d have more respect if they were willing to call a spade a spade. Instead they go on the virtues of gardening, the importance of irrigation, etc. while trying to ban rakes.
