You chose to obsess over them. That is a choice you made.
They arent required in any way whatsoever to clear this content. If they were, I’d agree something needed to change. But they arent. They are an optional performance boost you can choose to get - but in exchange for the power increase, you need to take extra steps to protect them on a pvp server. Its a fair trade off. Nothing comes for free.
If you do not like this, then PvE servers are an option. No one will dispel your buffs or kill you in BRM on a PvE server.
You clearly haven’t read the thread, understandable as it’s pretty long now. I have no issues keeping my buffs in raids, never have.
It’s not a choice of whether or not to obsess over world buffs. It’s binary either you
A) want to be competitive on damage meters (we’re playing an mmorpg come on of course people do) and get them
or
B) don’t care about damage meters and don’t get them
There’s a reason damage meter addons exist. Let’s not pretend like 15+ years of mmorpg psychology doesn’t exist.
Its a choice to play on a pvp server. You want world buffs removed in raids and the choice removed for everyone because you chose to play on a pvp server and cannot handle the challenges that come along with that.
There are non pvp reasons that buffs shouldn’t be in raids. If you read the thread you’d understand that too.
Currently world buffs are being exploited unlike anything seen in actual vanilla, and instead of doing vanilla damage numbers we’re doing t5 damage numbers.
World buffs encourage raid logging and punish you for actually playing the game.
World buffs are trivializing the already easy content. If not for buffs strategies like nobody wearing FR gear and nobody resetting stacks on firemaw wouldn’t be possible.
World buffs are massively skewing the dps gap in melee’s favor, other classes simply can’t keep up. Melee would still be best without buffs but nowhere near this margin.
I’m sure there’s many more but these are the ones that immediately come to mind.
They’re incredibly powerful to the point where they allow people using them to supersede the normal mechanics/difficulty on a fight.
They allow for quicker progression to the point where if you aren’t using them (and are struggling at any point in the content cycle) it becomes a ‘not choice’ to crutch on them if you want to retain people concerned with progressing.
That the content is ‘not new’ and ‘has been figured out’ does not matter.
Niia knows this…
I frankly don’t think anything will change though because Blizzard doesn’t care about its’ player base. They can barely be bother to layer servers who have people waiting in queue for 4+ hours. They’ve allowed rampant botting.
They can’t even be bothered to deal with issues that are breaking the game’s economy or prohibiting people from playing on their main characters (if that character is on a server with high queues).
World buffs are not an “exploit” and you are fully aware of this. The entire argument essentially has an undercurrent of “i find getting and keeping this powerful buff inconvenient, so the option should be taken away from everyone”.
That argument doesnt track. If parses are your concern, then ask warcraftlogs to allow a parameter to rank parses with and without buffs. Let the best non-world buffed raids compete to be on the top of those rankings.
To people who think that world buffs are great, I implore you to ask your guild without any bias “If world buffs no longer worked in raids would you be upset?”
Just for fun I’ve been asking people in guilds that get world buffs on my server and I have yet to talk to anyone who would be upset. Most people think it would be amazing. Of course this is anecdotal but it’s interesting to hear people’s thoughts on it.
I don’t think you know the definition of exploit. People are absolutely exploiting something that was just added to be a cool alternative quest reward by the devs.
I could kill Kael’Thas Sunstrider in BC…a 25 man raid for a zone end-boss and get:
A’Dal’s Song of Battle:
“In Tempest Keep: The Botanica, The Mechanar, and The Arcatraz, reputation gained with the Sha’tar from killing monsters is increased by 10%. Damage and Healing increased by 5%”
It’s almost like the development team realized Diremaul North buffs and Onyxia/Nefarian head buffs were horribly overpowered and leaving them in the game for ‘max level play’ would create some sort of ‘buff gathering culture’ where everybody just abuses world buffs…
Essentially, because they provided percentage based buffs that scaled exponentially for clearing level 60 content, even as a level 70. If it was a flat value buff rather than one that scaled percentage-wise based on stats, it probably wouldnt have been touched.
Then why were flat value buffs like rallying cry, songflower, dire maul AP and crit buff removed?
Also again world buffs being exploited isn’t an argument, it’s true by definition. Just like black lotus were being exploited, just like alterac valley was being exploited, just like layers were being exploited.
Fengus’ Ferocity,Mol’dar’s Moxie,Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer, Slip’kik’s Savvy and Spirit of Zandalar these buffs will no longer work on targets over level 63.
This was the patch notes from 2.1 it was a conscious decision made by blizzard because people were still using world buffs for raids.
This isnt shocking. Those buffs were powerful, yet could be obtained by clearing level 60 (and in the case of felwood items, lower) content. Once you can level above 60, the risk vs reward ratio becomes massively skewed for the strength of these buffs.
I’m not exactly sure what you believe this proves.
You genuinely believe they were removed because there was lower risk/reward? The mental gymnastics in your posts are outstanding. Any time you hear the phrase “creative use of mechanics” you can already tell.
Do you not think there is a fundamental difference between killing onyxia or nefarian at level 60 vs level 70? Farming felwood at level 60 vs level 70?
