Remove voidform

considering we are playing with 50ish stacks these days WITH COI AND totally un-intended levels of secondary stats via corruption; I’d rather them NOT do what BFA did and double-correct a problem. Can we just TRY natural VF as it was released to us in legion without additional stuff on top, or additional ‘constraints’.

I feel like they do too many things at once with shadow. From legion to BFA we got adjusted in like 4 ways I think it was? As the spec design has aged several expansions at this point but yet always has been severely tainted by borrowed power culprits; I think a finer adjustment is in order vs a paint roller like they did in BFA. Not sure if you remember 8.0 but I sure do…

This ruins the fantasy and feel and gameplay I’ve come to love. The gameplay you describe for me feels like other dps specs which I don’t find compelling to play.

I love using my Shadow Priest! It is my favorite DPS spec to use, whether low-level or max-level. I even made videos for the first time during PvP. No other spec has inspired me to do this.

I wanted to add my viewpoint so that people don’t automatically assume that the forum consensus matches the silent majority.

I do have 1 complaint. I really wish that I could have a massive Haste boost during Insanity and methods of staying Insane perpetually. Horrific Visions showed me how Shadow Priest can be even more fun with increased speed. Imagine procs going off during Insanity, getting faster and faster! One big game of Whack-A-Mole. As long as you keep hitting the proc before it expires, the Insanity continues.

And what exactly do you love? Can you put it in words?

Thank you. That is a good point. “I love it” is not very descriptive.

I like having something cool to look forward to if I do a lot of damage and generate Insanity. It’s like “Awesome, I am about to become very powerful if I pump out this initial damage!” I like the ramp up. It gives me a reason to use my abilities, as opposed to fighting for the sake of fighting.

I enjoy having a shield and healing. Even though the shield goes down quickly and Shadowmend costs 1/4 of my mana per cast, it is there if I need it. Just cc my opponent and use that time to heal back up!

I always prefer ranged characters because I can use my abilities up-close or from far away. I am not forced to back away from an enemy or jump in their face.

I love the tension while in Voidform. I need to do everything possible to keep my Insanity from running out. If I stop blasting for even a moment, my Insanity can drain away. This is exciting!

That is what I love about Shadow Priest. But I am not married to it! If there was another class that had this experience, I would use that instead.

Prove it, Heylaa.

Let me guess, you can’t. Would you prefer that I hate WoW or hate my class? Probably.

I said that the forum does not necessarily represent the silent majority. Very clear. That means that the silent majority could despise BFA Shadow Priest or totally love it. Neither one of us has concrete evidence to prove it one way or the other.

The forum represents the forum.

Also, why is your activity hidden? Never a good sign when you are simultaneously combative.

Let me correct that: It is a good sign of a troll. The most HILARIOUS part is that you dare to research my character while you keep your public profile hidden. Talk about a hypocrite.

Let’s get into this. In fact, I think it will be fun!

You came here to a thread called “remove Voidform” claiming that its fine and its so amazing in pvp that you started making videos so I had to check your profile.

please explain to me how are pvping in ilvl420 or doing Mythics or raiding ?

This is new to me. When people talk about the fantasy of Voidform they like, it’s usually the aesthetic of Voidform, which I’ve kept. Or they like the 2.5 button rotation simplicity of Bolt > Blast > Flay, which I’ve kept.

If I’m understanding you correctly, your class fantasy hinges on watching the insanity bar leap up and down erratically, even if the gameplay and aesthetic are identical?

Note that the duration of Voidform, in any prior version, has been ~fixed - based on your gear, stat allocation, talents, borrowed power, and bloodlust. It might be 20 seconds in one tier, or 45 seconds in another - but if you press your 2.5 buttons correctly, Voidform already has a ~fixed duration.

You aren’t making any choices that decides whether your Voidform is 12 seconds or 45 seconds: or at least if you do, you are choosing to do less overall damage. What my design does, is put that number on the screen so that you see it.

Does seeing the duration really ruin your class fantasy?

Thank you for sticking up for us, Nyelle… :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s like “Oh, I had no idea that was I supposed to be miserable. Silly me for enjoying myself!”

While not a definite proof, you can get a trend on the alpha forums.

The Shadowpriest feedback posts have by far the largest number of likes in any alpha thread. At the same time, Shadow is hardly the most played spec (just.

We can either assume that all players are equally likely to voice their discomfort, or assume that Shadowpriests are vastly more likely to voice their discomfort.
Personally, i’d say all players are equally likely to post on the forum if they seriously dislike something.

From that you can at least build a certain comparison between specs. You have (far) fewer shadowpriests, yet significantly more likes on constructive criticism.

The fair likelyhood at that point would be, that a significant junk of Shadowpriests are not happy.

Look into max level population by class.
Priest is the least played class atm.

Back before Legion (Void Form / Insanity revamp) Priest was in the top half of classes played.

Then when you look at the active accounts being so low in BFA (Lower then in WoD) and that Classic over doubled the active accounts for wow.

You can start to clearly see that this “Forum” is not the “problem” with its absolute vitriol hatred towards Void Form, it is merely the symptom of bad class design and in that case “Void Form” mechanic that it is completely interlaced with the Shadow Spec in that anything and everything is designed and balanced around it and that if it is “bad” then the entire spec displays that and it can only be fixed by making “void Form” good but with how its designed, the only time it can become “good” is if it was OP like back in EN in Legion which wont happen.
So its doomed to fail and feel bad.

Edit:

That’s just the PvE side of things and raid specific.
You still have a whole host of problems / issues with all the other areas in the game that raising the damage floor and damage ceiling of Void Form will still not address.

The entire spec has compounding issues that leaves it in a slogging mess of a state.

Just checked your Mount Journal and you dont have the class mount…how do you not have the class mount?

you love voidform so much yet you didn’t play Legion?
checked your raids journal…didn’t do any raids
checked your Mythic dung journal…didn’t do any mythic+
checked your PVP journal and you got your Honorobale Medallion on July 5…3 days ago, dude they were added in 2016

and then come here and try to tell us that we’re talking nonsense and VF is completely fine to the extent that you started making pvp videos.

yet I’m the troll…okay

He is making PvP Vids?

I’m interested to see this actually.
I have yet to see Void Form play well in PvP without struggling lol.

Are you still going on? I can like or dislike whatever I want. Attacking my playtime is won’t change that. I love playing Shadow Priest, I am not alone and I will proclaim this publicly. From what I am hearing about Shadowlands, the devs seem to agree with me as no big changes are incoming, correct? We will see what happens between now and launch for confirmation.

I should post one nice thing about Shadow Priest each day to REALLY get you enraged! :joy:

His character was made 07/04/2020, he used a free 120 token to make a Spriest to troll the forums. Just gotta ignore those ones unfortunately

I honestly don’t care what you like or dislike as a matter of fact I’m ecstatic that you love VF and enjoy it, however just because you love it doesn’t mean its fine and okay.

the reason i exposed that you just boosted this character was solely because you painted yourself as a pro who is so good at shadow and VF that now your making PVP videos to show how good and perfect Vf is.
saying you like it is something and pretending to be an expert on it is another thing.

its always the same with these trolls, they always change the conversation to “I like it why are you attacking me because I like” no ones cares if you like it or not.

@Nyelle is a mythic raider, and has a bunch of videos on YouTube. Loves the struggle to get long voidforms, and I get that. Hit an 80 stack a month ago in a raid, which is awesome. I like voidform for the most part in raids (wrathion and skitters phase changing at about 40 stacks makes nexwant to cry tho), and it can be fun in m+ with the right key level and group.

But voidform itself is just bad in open world, pvp, lower level dungeons, expeditions, timewalking, and everywhere there arevfights under a 40s or so (most of wow). Void Eruption is good, voidform is bad there. And so much of our power budget is, in reality, in the middle of the second voidform it frankly feels unfair.
