I did mainly from the weekly 10 chest and even from things like World Quests. The straw that broke me was when I killed a Mythic boss during Uldir and got a 385 piece only to get another piece drop from invasions that was also 385. To me in the current game there’s no real point in trying to make pushes for gear. There’s no incentive to make hard pushes.
I personally wouldn’t have any issues with gear being normalized if it meant that making pushes would result in something similar to getting above 1.8k in arenas right now. Right now the mentality that some people are trying to push is that you only do the hard stuff for the glory alone and that’s just silly to me. Especially when looking at how much time and effort is put into clearing a raid on Mythic to get Cutting Edge.
In the current game, there’s really no reason to be a Mythic raider.
EDIT: Personally, I’d like to see a return to a currency system. Where we have player agency and don’t have to bank on several layers of RNG. Before the only luck we had to deal with was the item dropping. It didn’t really need anything more than that in terms of being lucky.
And that’s why it’s not going away. Forging is content. It gives people stuff to do chasing possible upgrades. That’s exactly what the developers told Sloot when he asked them about forging at the Content Creators Summit they did back in April. Don’t let the salty mythic raiders get your worked up. It’s doing exactly what they intend it to do and they don’t care in the slightest that mythic raiders don’t like it.
Go for it. They aren’t going to do anything. People have literally stated they don’t think people deserve the gear. And in the end that’s all your argument boils down to anyways.
Correct, I replied to your statement, deconstructed it and made a counter argument.
That’s how discussions tend to work. I didn’t construct new facts about your opinions or why you feel the way you do.
That is the difference.
Repeatedly saying “people just don’t like it when they can get just as good gear as them” is a fallacy, and can be considered trolling.
Entirely different situations.
Why would getting a 385 from an invasion erode your sense of achievement from killing a mythic boss? I just can’t get my head around that.
Okay, maybe your mythic gear was replaced by the invasion gear. So the real issue is mythic gear isnt BIS, right? It is a long-running meme that G’huun drops crap loot, yet people still throw themselves against the wall anyway cos you know, cutting edge. I am sure if a player’s intention was merely to get BIS loot throughout the game, he/she would not necessarily be in the subgroup of players who do mythic raids.
That is basically the same as repeatedly stating: “I think something is bad for the game because I don’t like it” so this should be considered trolling as well.
No…
I said making comments that are fabricated saying “doesn’t like TF because they don’t like other people being able to get good gear” as a reason I would consider trolling because it is not relevant and has not been something that has been said.
Alternative opinions are fine. Even if I don’t agree with them.
Just don’t make up fallacies to make you seem righteous (Not you, general statement)
In what way? I have stated my opinions and given reason for them.
How is that in anyway equivalent to someone assuming my intentions and making an entirely fallace statement about why I don’t entirely agree with the system.
Ah, I must say I did not expect you to take the remarks personally. I was just expressing a viewpoint which was opposite of mine, hence I used “you”. If it offends you so much, you can just replace all the yous with theys. Cheers.
That is still not the same, and if someone is replying to something that I said then I have every right to reply to that comment in return should I desire.
Because at that point the only reason that I’m killing a Mythic boss is for a rectangle in my achievement tab saying “You did it”. I personally don’t find enjoyment in that. Me hitting 2k back in MoP for the first time wasn’t a big moment for me because that was the next achievement in the progression of arenas. It was because I knew hitting that meant that I get access to the Elite set from that season.
I’d do the exact same if the result was similar for raiding and M+.
But you sound rather contradictory. If you admit that you are doing mythic raids for the achievement, then why do you care that you managed to get a 385 loot elsewhere afterwards?
I am not saying you are wrong. I am just saying that it is also not fair to deprive others of a means to get themselves stronger if they don’t do mythic raids. Following which, people’s counter-argument that such freebies devalue mythic raiding is hyperbolic in my opinion, because I just have not seen people get so much TF gear from WQs/WFs etc that they are equally geared as a mythic raider.
Do note that I have left out M+ TF gear because I have no argument against that. To me, that system stands on its own.
