whatever reason you want. this is where a rarespawn is. i found a mithril node here. meet here at 3 for the birthday party.
api changes are a last resort when an addon looks to become a widespread problem.

No thanks. If you don’t like it don’t use it.
the rp one only presents information already in your quest log only with showing with pretty pictures, not pointing you were to go any further than the original quest giver information. no arrows, no coordinates.
Blizzard can’t ban map marker add-ons.
All they do is place graphics on your map, which are static 2D images.
I don’t see how they could enforce that.
The auto accept, auto turn in, auto whatever stuff they could ban though, since it’s system related.
Wow! I just scrolled through the thread quickly and I have to say this was a masterclass on trolling. Slayt you are amazing and I am truly impressed. Instead of continuing to argue about the addon you wanted you have instead created a false narrative of community concern over the quest helper addon. Then you repeatedly stoked the flames, inciting reaction from others, in order to create a massive thread. At the very least it is large enough now to get dev attention and cause them to review the quest helper addon.
I personally do not believe quest helper will be coded out but you have made a masterful attempt at it. If I can’t have my favorite toy I will get your toy taken away as well. Really just a beautiful attempt.
Oh yes there going to look at a quest helper addon, just like they did back when it came out in vanilla. Wanna take a guess on how their going to react? Its going to be allowed.
NO! …And I wont even be using them this ---->https://classicwow.live/leveling
will be on my 2nd monitor though have fun trying to get that banned as well.
Questing addons do far more harm to the spirit of vanilla than a LFG addon ever would. I wasn’t planning on installing the LFG since I heard it shows your talent spec to everyone else with the addon which I considered a breach of privacy, but I do find it quite ridiculous that Blizzard would kneejerk announce banning an addon like this one, when there are addons that ruin the spirit of Classic a billion times more than it does. If Blizzard is actually serious on trying to ban addons that go against the spirit of Classic and didn’t just do this as a one time thing to shut up the community, then they really need to break questing addons as well.
But they were a part of my Vanilla experience.
Questing addons won’t have a great impact on the community at large. Furthermore, most of us do not need them. I remember where Mankirk’s wife is, and I didn’t even main horde. Some players with special needs might need the extra help.
The only people who are bringing us closer to 1984 are the people who can’t keep up with technology. Sheep being watched by wolves is what happens when society accepts stupidity and indifference as the apex of knowledge and community.
This argument is invalid and doesn’t work.
Yep and even if you know where his wife is…looking back on it…I would have missed a good memory if I could just use an addon to find her. Having trouble finding her was a great part if vanilla
That’s factually incorrect. Today’s tech is anti-liberty and pro-1984-spying. #Reality
I visited these forums a while back and people were praising the vision of a Vanilla Experience.
Now I see this post. Addons were a huge thing in Vanilla. There were some addons that the devs banished from existence. But there were a lot of addons that gave people an edge with UI that were allowed in game.
Don’t be so quick to start shouting about banning addons. Give it time. If you didn’t play Vanilla, please know that addons were part of the fun. It was an optional thing that was fun to be social with. I can remember trading favorite settings for certain addons, finding new ones, etc. And each time the devs moved a popular addon function into the game client as a proper setting…it felt like the civilized world trying to take my “outlaw life” away bit by bit hahaha.
I knew several people that would sometimes wait for days after a new patch before playing so the addon authors would update their code (seriously…some people were running 20-40+ addons at once).
I didn’t personally like the idea of waiting to play because my addons weren’t updated, so I only ran a few (quest helper, auctioneer, a bag combiner, and a few others)…but there are people who really thrive on the “tinkering” aspect that addons provide.
Addons were alive and well in Vanilla. The devs know which ones you are using. They’ll make sure to toss out mods that break things. I think it would be a better use of time to watch the mods that get banned…and make appropriate arguments to keep them if they were around in Vanilla.
If the quest helper mod OP is referring to has the same features as the one in Vanilla…why try to get it banned? If it has extra features that break something…the devs will find it and take appropriate action.
it went beyond these forums. it was everywhere.
the LFG channel can be accessed from any part of the game. none of the process should be automated. you should be sending tells, getting to know these people. they aren’t faceless scrubs - they are your fellow faction members. you will see them around again and again.
Probably cause they existed back in Vanilla.
What is it automating exactly? It’s just giving me better information on where to go and such and less time consuming then google searching. And you still have your social interactions, the quest helper addon doesn’t come with a free NPC that will obliterate everything in your path and never talks. Or a free flight master.
Also, Does Google and Wowhead not exist to you with 15 years worth of information on WoW? Not saying you can’t discover on your own, I’m saying that were no longer in 2004 or have AoL for internet, and we have much much much more ways of getting information on a specific thing or what not.
DBM is the worst. The reason boss mechanics are “harder” in modern wow is to account for the addons making the mechanics trivial. DBM should not be in Classic.
To my, questing addons violate the spirit of vanilla by removing the need to explore and learn about the world. Getting lost and talking to other players was a key part of it.
