They literally show you where to go for all of the quests.

These were not around during most of Vanilla’s lifetime, and emerged on later patches. If we’re going for the OG Vanilla experience, then most players did not have them until much later in Vanilla.

I find it hilarious that the “community” (loosely used) gets frustrated when someone makes an LFG Addon, but are fully embracing mods that clearly did not exist for most of Vanilla’s lifetime.

This is how I know you didn’t even play vanilla lmao. Stuff like QuestHelper was there for a long time and if you didn’t use that then you just had Thottbot open on a second window

I find it hilarious that for someone who didn’t even play vanilla, you’re trying to say what’s right and wrong for the state of the game when you have no idea what you’re talking about.

I mean let’s be real here… the highest thing you’ve done is LFR and you have no significant PvP experience either… so why are we listening to you, who has no understanding of the game at it’s fundamental levels?

Do you know what the vanilla quest helpers do? They just add icons to the map, you gotta search through and find the icon you’re looking for. Unless you mean something like azeroth autopilot, which creates an arrow and plans the route etc

I’m personally not a fan of quest helper addons and won’t be using it. I’d rather have that old school MMO experience (and to see if I can remember where everything was!). But I won’t begrudge someone who doesn’t enjoy reading quest text or hunting for 15 minutes for Mankrik’s wife because they forgot where she was. And as this type of addon was in Vanilla, and commonly known about and used, it doesn’t make sense to break it for Classic.

Since they don’t automate anything in-game, they wont have any real major impact on Classic. We already saw these addons in Vanilla and it didn’t have a big impact.

In all honesty leveling guides will probably have a bigger impact than questing addons since they teach people how to level several magnitudes faster than they otherwise could have.

How can you say they don’t automate anything? They literally put little dots on your map where to find the mobs, automatically accept and turn in the quests for you. They tell you EXACTLY where to go for item and mob spawns.

If a person can talk about LFG being bad and be cool with quest helpers then I feel like they’re being a hypocrite. In my opinion I think the quest helper is actually WORSE than LFG, since it removes a huge part of the Classic experience of actually having to find things on your own.

And just to be clear, I don’t give a crap about either of these addons. Let people play however they want to play it doesn’t actually effect me one way or the other.

Chiming in here too. Quest Helper was very much a Vanilla thing. I used it for a very short time. I didn’t care to much for it because it covered parts of my map I wanted to see & it had a function that would help “guide” you around so you could optimize your play time. I didn’t agree with its guide so I uninstalled it.

On the other hand THOTTBOT was a great source & much better than quest helper for me. Much more info about a quest would be given there than what quest helper did. So if you are going to ban quest helper, then you have to also ban THOTTBOT which is now known as WOWHEAD which is a 3rd party website Blizz actually promotes with direct links. So yeah, go ahead, try to get all that banned. Good luck!

The difference is the way your talking to people here, were fine with your opinion. But you trying to tell us that were bad because we require “GPS” and that were obviously not “reading” your posts or that we need our “hands held”. This does nothing but make your opinion seem toxic and hostile. Your opinions DO matter. That is why everyone, including you, should have the right to play the game the way they/you want to play it.

It is one thing to advocate for how you want to play in Classic. It is a whole other thing to try to demand that others MUST play the game in the same way that you prefer to.

Please, advocate for what you want in the game FOR YOU. Do not push for forcing me to play the game by your own personal rules and preferences.
