Remove merc mode

I am fine with merc mode. I am sure that the few wins alliances gets is because mercs. I have no evidence, but I have no doubts

A cult of failure.
That is rather sad.

This exactly, I never cared if I had to wait in a queue, just gave me time to go do other things while waiting.

Just report them for gameplay sabotage. Ahh I wish they had the overwatch report system in this game.

I’d rather wait longer for a bg than have an insta merc bg.

Exactly what I was saying, it’s nice being able to queue and then go do other things while you wait.

We used it for non-trolling purposes in WoD. Horde use it to troll, HUGE difference. The meaning of OP’s post is that its being misused and needs to be removed cause of childish behavior.

Removing the tool doesn’t suddenly make the problem go away and just create more problems then it helps like “Oh now i have to wait longer on alliance side”. And it just sounds like to me that the problem would’ve existed on regular battlegrounds anyways by the sounds of it. If they aren’t horde being alliance or vice versa and intentionally throwing, they would’ve either leveled up a brand new alt or just intentionally throw. Either way, the problem lies in with people throwing. Not the mode itself.

Again, a few bad apples in a barrel, doesn’t mean the entire apple farm has to go. :apple:

Again, it’s not just a few bad apples, it’s not an isolated event. This has been happening for a while now.

Merc mode is being abused by horde regularly, usually by groups of 5, and they are usually geared. Yes, we report them, but it continues.

It’s a system that never should have been added to the game.

Yeah, but when you think about it, the Horde have been able to merc as Alliance for 3 straight expansions now.

True, but it has become a real problem now.

I don’t know if it’s because horde are just that bored or what, (also some of them stream themselves doing it) but something needs to be done.

It is probably just boredom by some. I dunno, I stopped PVP’ing since they ruined PVP

I’ve noticed you didn’t even point out how this is a common occurrence like you said. It just sounds like to me you’ve either found a few of those guys and blowing it up to make it sound common, or you have really bad luck.

And the blame is on the abusers, not on the system they used. Because if you want to get technical, everything in this game can be abusable, and therefore, can be grounds for removing based on that. Removing the tool does nothing to address that problem, since it would be reasonable to assume they would’ve done the same on a regular BG anyways. Would you too ask for the regular BG’s removal if that’s still the case? If we start removing things because of people abusing it, how much of the game will be leftover to enjoy?.. :man_shrugging:

I think people who does have bad experiences while using the tool, wouldn’t necessarily blame the tool, like LFR or Merc Mode and etc. I know you don’t think it’s the answer, but stricter moderation or harsher punishments is really the way.

Or ask for better matchmaking options, like disabling merc mode players from entering in your random BG you’ve made. Options are good.

And before you tell me, this is Activison Blizzard were talking about here, the same company that dodges taxes and get our taxes we pay, as well making buttloads of cash and overpaying their CEO every year or so. To say they don’t have the resources is a bit silly. Yes, they do have the resources to cover this.

Again, what makes you think that wouldn’t do that on a regular BG? it sounds like this sort of behavior has nothing to do with Merc mode.

Horde afking in merc is the big reason I stopped with PvP this expansion. Which is a shame considering BGs–sans Huttball–is one of the few features WoW does better than other MMOs.

I don’t think they have to remove it to fix it, it just can’t be better honor per hour to chain lose merc BGs than to win horde BGs. Something like 0 honor for a merc lose and 3 times honor for a merc win would probably fix this issue in about a week.

Same. As someone who mains Alliance I almost never see trolls in random bgs.

This is it, man. Like whenever I get mercs in randoms they’re usually in like quest greens, 25k health and espousing "lose, it’s more efficient for honor gains’. Like, no. Go wait your queue times and be a burden on your own faction. My BG win to loss ratio plummeted this expansion because of these types of people.

Horde in Warlords on finding Alliance mercs in Ashran: “Let’s kick these guys, they’re trolling us.” - When the Alliance mercs were the ones leading the raid.

Everybody knows that the real trolls in Ashran during wod were hunters using aspect of the pack.

Nah they should just remove faction queueing period and put everyone in the same queue pool. Everyone gets assigned to blue or red at random, doesn’t matter if theres faction imbalance or low geared players abusing shorter queues

Everyone gets the same queue wait time and can’t pick what side they’re on

Mines been 60% like virtually every season before it. I played 4 games this week on my 200ilvl human spriest and have 100% win rate rate now.

Might be a you problem.
