People aren’t moving now, and probably won’t later. I hope they figure something out because layering can’t stay.
The OP’s translation of layers is entirely correct and exactly how Blizzard explained it. Idk what all the flame is about.
THE SERVERS ARE HANDLING ALL THE PLAYERS ON THERE RIGHT NOW. LAYERING ONLY HELPS SINGLE SPOT CONGESTION. PLAYERS ARE SPREAD OUT. THEY CAN TURN LAYERING DOWN A TON AND/OR OFF AT THIS POINT.
THEY ARE ALREADY IN THE GAME WORLD AT ONCE…ARE YOU KIDDING?
Let’s imagine that’s correct for a second… Do you think 50,000 people in a server would even be playable?
FYI, I casualed some private servers. 5,000k people was completely unplayable for me. Literally 40+ people standing on hoggers spawn on an already established server with NAX cleared.
Actually, no
Hey man… pssstt…Hey… YOUR PLAYING WITH 50K PEOPLE ON A SERVER RIGHT NOW. YOU ARE JUST SHARDED OFF. O MY GOODNESS I AM GOING TO HAVE A STROKE FROM THIS!
I guarantee Shock would be the first person to complain about it on the forums if they turned off layering.
Sit down and take a xanax, first of all. Or a nitro. I’m worried about your blood pressure.
Second of all, it has been thoroughly explained to you why the game is layered rather than a ton of 5k pop servers opened instead, or everybody put into 12 hour queues to log into the existing servers, or tens of thousands of players allowed to log into the game world in a single layer. You are being deliberately obtuse and there’s nothing more to discuss.
If I don’t see them, I’m not playing with them. I may play with them later though
When sharding is removed you WON’T be playing with that many at once.
Bye Bye Caio Cya
Yea. You can spam stupid meme’s, gifs, and vids at me. People can respond with imbecilic and nonsensical responses. But if I said what I wanted I would get banned.
Done here. Ruin the game. Go ahead. I am done fighting on these forums. Total waste of time. Done.
Yeah, layering doesn’t affect the overall hardcap at all @Burned. It was put in to alleviate pressure on the early game where everyone was forced into three starting zones or so. Now that most people are past those and are fanning out and spread out across all levels, it’s no longer needed.
The reason they can’t use more layers to increase server caps and remove queues (and they’ve said this) is that they can’t just increase the server cap infinitely using more layers because the hard caps are based on the fact that the layers are temporary and they eventually have to merge back down to one (supposedly within a few weeks of launch according to Ion).
Lastly we don’t know the precise hardcap number. They won’t tell us but I suspect it’s much higher than 10k, especially with the capacity increase from a few days back. But it’s still limited because everyone has to exist on a single layer some time in the next few weeks and I am hoping sooner.
When sharding is removed you WON’T be playing with that many at once.
Shock is a qualified server engineer with access to all the numbers at Blizzard HQ
Is that why you were playing on private servers? Stealing…to protect the integrity of the game. Nice to know you pick and choose when to worry about morals and cheating…only when it’s somebody else.
Agreed. Layering was a bad idea to fix a bad problem.
It will have to. If servers cap at 50k and their are another 3-10k in que. Let’s roughly assume close to 60k total even though I’ve seen waaaaaaaay higher ques. That means we need 48000 people to quit on that server to meet that fall off ratio which still leaves 12000 on the server in a single layer. We would need around 90% of the playerbase to fall off that server to reach “vanilla like” population.
