Fire was a different Monster back then. Ignite was a massive portion of each Critical. They stack together and then You could combine them with Living bomb and then use Combustion which then took the total damage of all of those and put them into a single DoT while leaving them all active. You could then flamestrike or blast wave the target for an Impact proc.
And impact let you spread that entire mess to every hostile target within ten yards with no cap.
I melted an entire 40 man raid attacking varian once doing that. My entire monitor was full of yellow numbers for fifteen straight seconds.
Nothing will ever be that broke. Or that fun

Well i guess thats the difference, fun is subjective, op isnt.
Thats op, I wouldn’t say its consistently fun, i like the kite potential of fire rn, thats whats fun for me about it, and next patch i like the look of glass cannon and flame cannon, basically death wish fire mage.
Oh it ABSOLUTELY was. But it was still mechanically the most enjoyable any caster spec has ever been. Even if it didnt have Thermonuclear spread pressure it still wouldve been an absolute joy to play just because of how buttery smooth the spec felt.
It’s the natural cycle for me at this point, monk is unfun at the start of the xpac blizzard ignores all ww feedback and thebulk quits

Lol they had a trinket that made them fart out shadowbolts called cunning of the cruel and the legendary staff to duplicate spell casts

Never did get that, kept losing the roll. Got the poison DoT dagger though.
The trinket procced on ANY spell damage so with a DoT spread you just shotgunned them out over and over.
