Back in the day I ran molten core/onyxia pugs, and I spammed trade chat/general chat in IF every minute or two. I’m pretty certain people would have reported me for spamming and got me muted. But to be frank, I would have deserved it xD
I do see the problem… You admit to not reading the post, then found the personal entitlement to think you where educated enough to respond despite swimming in incompetence and ineptitude.
That’s exactly how the system works… Squelched until GM “review” which there’s no evidence of even actually happening. Bonus points if you happen to eat a squelch during a high ticket volume time (like an expansion launch) and end up squelched for longer than the penalty would have been regardless…
Maybe YOU should educate yourself on how the system actually works…
In the above example, booms would be squelched until review MAYBE clears him (IF there’s even an actual review done and the GM isn’t a halfwit just rubber stamping things to hit his quota to maintain his $10/hr job)… only to get a new squelch installed the day he resumes his activities.
If you don’t believe Blizzard when they say they review the squelches, then why are you even here? How do you determine when Blizzard is lying and when they’re not?
Let me guess, they’re lying when you don’t like something and they’re telling the truth when they do something you like?
I’ve done a tremendous amount of research into how the system works, mostly by finding posts from Blizzard CMs. I’d trust their word over your self examination of the system based on anecdotal evidence from players who are known to lie a significant amount.
It’s hard to imagine how the last thread escalated.
To return to the subject, there’s a suggestion above that requiring a large enough number of reports in a limited time span would cut down the potential for abuse. In this case, perhaps enough to keep Booms’s business booming, provided he let people ride the boat eventually.
It’s best to just ignore such people and not engage. That’s what they’re advocating for trolls in public chats anyway, right?
Blizzard has said numerous times that people don’t report things enough, even with the system as it is. If they increase the number of reports required to instigate a squelch and subsequent investigation into the reports; the system would no longer function as a strong deterrent/combative measure against Gold Spammers.
The better compromise, if Blizzard was willing; would be to change the “Report Spam” option to a “Report Illegal Services button” that would make punishing abuse incredibly easy and straight forward. I’d be fine with that because I don’t care about spam or trade chat trolling. The issue is convincing Blizzard that it’s the right path forward for Classic.
Because it’s the existence of RCR->auto squelch that is giving blizzard “cause” to dramatically reduce GM support staff, and the existence of RCR/
Quit being a damn pushover as a consumer and start actually demanding accountability from the company you are doing business with, rather than shilling for them when they hand you chicken poop and are calling it chicken salad.
So you admit to not knowing a damn thing about the system then…lol
If you’d actually known what you where talking about or managed to do any actual amount of the research you’ve claimed to have done, you’d know that any mentions of the system, particularly examples of it being garbage are nearly instantly erased from the forums entirely, save the exceedingly few ones where the GMs can cherry pick examples of players being banned for things other than what they claimed.
Again, showing your lack of knowledge about the situation. Let me guess, you think those layoffs they had recently affected their CS department?
I don’t have retail so correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the current implementation has as one of the options to report illegal activity like gold selling.
Man, why are all the A. Jones conspiracy fans finding refuge on this forum?
The option to report illegal services is the current report spam option.
I’m sorry that I don’t think right-click report is an issue, at all. I’ve complained plenty about Blizzard but I’m not going to jump on every make believe issue that the tin foil hatters claim will destroy Classic.
I’m logical and reasonable, can’t say the same for many around here.
Just “spamming”, “cheating”, and “language” off the top of my head. “Cheating” offers a dialog box to type in. None of them seem to actually do anything like force an account closure
Nothing specifically for “gold selling” or “selling paid carries” specifically
A hilarious statement considering your complete lack of competency on this topic.
How would Booms, if he where still alive, avoid getting squelched in Classic then? You claim to be using logic, when the entirety of your arguments thus far are ignorance as to how the system actually works, unwillingness to learn who the system actually works… and not a single one of you pro RCR-Auto squelch morons has EVER been able to answer that in anything resembling a satisfactory manner or explain why you can’t just take personal responsibility for your own state of being offended and put the person on ignore.
Crz was not in vanilla…was it? I dont ever remember it being in vanilla.
There was a rudimentary looking for dungeon in the game during vanilla, they were called meeting stones.
Do you manually need to remove them from the ignore list or is it just temporary? There are times I’d like to mute someone, but don’t really want to ignore them.
Where’s your evidence that he would EVER be squelched?
The last reduction of force that the Blizzard CS team saw was in 2012. Fact, sorry if you disagree with facts but your feelings are inconsequential.
You have to manually remove them from your ignore list later. I remember accidentally ignoring people for months at a time.
I DON’T CARE ABOUT BEING OFFENDED.
I care about removing the GOLD SPAMMERS and LEVELING SERVICE providers from the public chat channels AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.
If you remove THE SQUELCH, they get to SPAM and reach MANY MORE potential buyers and this will INCREASE THEIR PROFITS and there will be MORE SPAMMERS and MORE spam IN THE GAME.
Do you UNDERSTAND THIS?
Eh that stinks. Id love a mute option that resets when I log out.
