The raw numbers show 45-55 Alliance to Horde. Which is already huge. War Mode and Mythic populations are closer to 1-10. Everyone interested in the “hardcore” stuff are on Horde side. Period. The Alliance didn’t run War Mode because the Alliance doesn’t like PvP. And the bribe didn’t turn out equal numbers, or it would have changed.
Except PvP servers were dying. More and more “whiners” not wanting to be stuck on servers where they were stuck 10-1 or worse, who would just quit. Less and less PvP happening as EVERY server became massively one sided.
The whiny Horde complaining that there’s no Alliance for them to kill. And the Alliance who are sick of the devs giving everything to the Horde when we’re paying just as much.
Obsessive min/maxers do ruin the game. But I didn’t put Ion in charge.
Because World PvP was dead on PvP servers, and they were losing players constantly. They needed a bribe to try to bring in new blood.
Alliance doesn’t have the bonus. The minority’s faction has the bonus. It just so happens that right now, Horde is so dominant and so much in the majority that alliance get the bonus.
If the sides are equally represented the bonus goes away.
So, the “problem” as you see it fixes itself given enough time
They already have given incentives to one faction (the horde) to the point such a bonus is necessary. Why aren’t you calling for a solution to the real problem, which is faction imbalance?
That just says the incentive isn’t working to entice people to turn WM on, that the AP gains and other benefits like exp gains for your alts and such aren’t enough to tip the scales.
I’m not sure why, but people drawn to WPvP are drawn to horde in greater numbers than alliance. It may be a chicken-egg thing, and that they are drawn to the dominant faction and it feeds on itself (that’s my guess), or there might be something about the feel of the lore and the je ne sais quoi of the horde side that lends itself to wanting to do this WPvP stuff.
At some point maybe they’ll throw gold into the mix, and then these forums will be a blast to read, lol.
So how does Alliance getting a bonus exactly impact a Horde guild requirement of grinding out their neck? If they’re raiding with a Horde guild they’re going to meet your requirements.
I thought this switched according to who was the faction minority? Granted-- still think it was a cheesy bonus (no matter the faction). Or is it for the Bonus XP?
Perhaps I was a bit to obtuse. But, my point is essentially the same. Changing the or removing the bonus does nothing to get Alliance involved in world pvp. Historically the Alliance has drawn in more PvE minded players, while Horde has generally attracted more of the PvP minded players.
I’m sure there are many reasons for this. But it doesn’t help that Alliance is basically all “high fantasy” races. Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes are attractive to more PvE minded players. The Orcs, Trolls, Goblins, Tauren (minotaur-esque) races are all beastly and combative races appealing to more PvP minded players. If Blizzard wants to get more balanced PvP representation then taking a look at race/faction alignments is a good place to start.
Blizzard should really expand on what they did with Pandaren. Faction alignment should be a political choice and not strictly a racial choice. I’d like to see an instanced starting zone revolving around the Alliance/Horde war, that lets players of all races experience the conflict to get a feel for the ideals of each faction, and then presented with a final choice. Choose Alliance or Horde.
I’m sure such an idea is likely to be railed against and flamed to ashes. But it would possibly better mix the PvP minded players into both factions. It would at least create a stronger connection to a players chosen faction. As so many wind up in a faction simply because they want to play a particular race or because their friends are all in a specific faction.
Yes, you were complaining about your guilds requirements, and that alliance players could hit those requirements slightly easier due to the 30% bonus (assuming they aren’t being constantly corpse camped by the horde, since they’re outnumbered).
That’s fine, but it doesn’t change the fact that mythic guilds have a track record of switching to horde for the racials, much like PvP guilds also do. There is an obvious advantage in that.
Based off that than all of the alliance should get a refund to their subscription for the last few months where horde got 10% buff for not facing anyone lmao.
