Which leads back to my main point: which is being some dragon’s flunky is an incredibly boring class concept.
If you’re going to have a dragon themed class, go all in and play an actual dragon.

Warlock was also robbed in response… why are you just ignoring this.
Necromancer steals from existing classes… stop stealing from warlocks
Warlocks use Shadow/Void and Fire magic, not Death magic. so no, there is not a Death magic caster.
i never said it had to tank, but i guess it could have a big bone/flesh golem and the necromancer and golem share a health pool, the golem would hold most of the agro but the necromancer could use spells to peel off of the golem to give it time to heal up or something.
hell it could even have a healing spec where it uses its mastery over Death to keep you from dying, we don’t have a proper “dark healer” yet.
warlocks have never been robbed, they did not invent Metamorphosis. that was a Demon Hunter spell back in WC3 so it was obvious that it would have gone to the DHs in WoW.
Not true. Both the Alliance and Horde are clearly on very familiar terms with the Aspects as witnessed across the entirety of the game. They don’t need to shapeshift to fit in thanks to their prestige. Chromie chilling in Org and Stormwind clearly beg to differ. Kalecgos being in both cities beg to differ. Nozdormu and the other aspect leaders having met personally one on one with faction leaders again beg to differ. You know they are dragons, they just choose to shift as they please.
REMINDER: Dark Rangers are still more requested then Tinkers.
We dont want a whole Mechagnome scenario where we get something added to the game only 3 people requested it and no one plays it because no one wants to play gnome or goblin.
REMINDER: Dark Rangers are literally just Forsaken Hunters.
The next class will be a plant. You’ll be able to choose between a few custom looks (I’m going with the fern look). You’ll do nothing but sit there using a spell (photosynthesis) that has a life time global CD.
Forsaken don’t have elves. Nor do hunters utilize death magic.
They could be a tank spec though sadly they’d be akin to a druid in that regard. Necromancy is in part a practice based on alchemy. In most fantasy forms of alchemy they create golems and constructs. It really isn’t very far fetched that they can “fuse” themselves with that golem or construct to directly control it and tank that way. The animation of it happening could be pretty metal actually…
Which is Demonology.
So let’s keep adding cringy dark edgy emo classes because it’s popular to people that are still in middle school.
Monks were possibly the best and most creative class added to wow, stop going these dark classes we already have 3 classes that are edgelords
The truth of the matter is this when it comes to new classes…
A new class must match the theme of the expansion, so lets look at the usual suspects.
Tinker: Will we ever get an expansion based off of gnomes and goblins and their tech? Closest we got was mechagon in bfa. Now can something like Mechagon carry an entire expansion? Possibly, but doubtful. Also, whether Tinker fan like it or not, the Eng profession already grants the Tinker fantasy.
Necromancer: Shadowlands is the Ultimate expansion in death mythos for WoW. If an expansion would ever introduce Necros then it surely would be this one. Given that SL didnt, chances are the only way for a necro class now would be through class skins and warlocks. Perhaps for 9.3? Also, by definition a DK is in fact a Necromancer, more so as unholy. Not the same as pally/holy priest or lock/DH. Not every Necromancer is a DK but every DK is a Necromancer.
Dark Ranger: see Necromancer^
Dragonsworn: The dragon isles were name dropped for the first time ever in bfa. Blizzard will have complete creative freedom with this expansion since not even the dragons themselves seem to be too knowledgeable with the dragon isles. We WILL be going to the Dragon Isles in future content.
Dragonsworns exist but not too much is known about them. Again, giving Blizz more creative freedom at designing the class with awesome mechs and animations.
We are due for a new class. A new class must match the theme of the expansion its introduced in. So with everything I said taken into consideration, the Dragonsworn has the highest chance at being the next playable class in WoW.
Yet these “edgy” classes are way more popular than your non edgy classes. You gotta stay up with the demographic if you want to appeal to your playerbase.
The best chance cloth necromancer have is a class quest for warlock that changes demonology theme undead…
The chance for it to be it’s own fleshed out class I doubt.
Tinker viable races:
Dwarf
Dark Iron
Gnome
Mechagnome
Draenei
Lightforged
Void Elf
Orc
Mag’har
Forsaken
Goblin
Blood Elves
Nightborne
Zandilari Trolls
Maybe.
I think it’s more likely that at the end of this we’d get necromancers now that we have a wider understanding of the magics.
Or, and this is immensely unlikely, mid expac class added? Lol
Not ignoring it.
There’s no reason two classes using the same base power of death can’t exist.
With luck blizzard won’t have to bother stealing. If they do, that’s fine. Death knights would lose undead minions. Little else.
Death knights aren’t necromancers. They just have some of the same powers.
You can disagree if you’d like.
Tinkers though? That’d be out of left field in a death expansion, and while they could be a thing in the next one, it still seems that’d be a stretch to get them to make sense.
Then again. Demon hunters had little to do with WoD, so why not?
I still think necromancers are the best choice at this time.
They are necromancers just like mages and warlocks are both sorcerers
They are, by definition, necromancers.
They practice death magic and raise the dead. That’s the literal textbook definition of a necromancer.
Hard pass on both of them.
Blizzard has stated that they try to avoid heavy changes with classes mid exp, I doubt they’d introduce a completely new one.
Exactly this.
