Troll confirmed.
Move along, nothing to see here.
there ARE two options included in the UI as defaults. Just have to click one of them.
No, its not the original UI, but its close enough to work.
I don’t watch many warcraft streamers so I only saw Hazel’s comments in Alpha and she wasn’t too sure it was going to eliminate the need for a lot of addons.
Personally I’m trying to get the look and functionality I want without Elvui. I’m still not sure about it. I’ve downloaded a bunch more addons than I had before and there are still things I want to change. The other day I borked my ui and had to reset it so I’m taking it slow now.
lmao…theyre literally complaining that they DO have options now but some of the options arent EXACTLY what they wanted.
its a UI UPDATE/UPGRADE. It WASNT MEANT to REPLACE their addons, lol
Bliz has always been the best at selling hot messes in a box with a bow and convincing everyone it’s just HOT not mess. It’s been far from the first hot mess and it will be far from the last. That’s the game you play. X-D
The new UI gives you a massive amount of options. Just having more sizing and moving options added allowed me to change my UI completely. If you think the old system was better you’re kidding yourself and are nearly objectively wrong.
Really folks need to understand what subjective opinion is.
New UI is fine, it’s an improvement over the other.
The blanket talk like everyone hated it is just simply inaccurate.
What you posted is a subjective opinion. There are clearly quite a few people who think the new UI is the exact opposite of being an improvement.
This thread didn’t age well, huh?
What I’ve tried to say in this thread, that people keep ignoring:
I like the IDEA of the new UI, but it introduces various new problems the old UI just didn’t have, and does not allow you to fix them (even though said problems would be easy to fix). Stuff like the minimap being too big and no resize option like there is for other stuff, or how you can’t adjust the width of the unit frames without also increasing the height, etc, etc.
Hopefully some of this stuff gets added, but the way it is now, I would rather have the old style back because some of these annoyances are pretty glaring.
I like what they are trying to accomplish with this, but true to a lot of other stuff produced by the AAA devs these days, is ship it broken fix it later.
I hate using words like ‘objective’ in cases of preference, but yeah…HAVING options vs NOT having them is objectively better short of those options making something unusable…and since most of us are having no problems here, it IS useable even if some arent liking one thing or another.
Know what would be even better?
An option to restore the old one, in case you didn’t like the new one, or perhaps a “legacy” button that makes the new UI mimic the old one as closely as possible, including sizes of elements on screen.
and objectively…that would be even better than what we have now.
I knew it will be a mess. Everything blizzard added in the game take years to refine and is never “good” on release. Just like the raid bosses they release. Blizzard have to actively fix it while game is live.
For some reason, out of all the issues some players have, this one is bugging the living hell out of me!!!
Then this one:
But you’re right - this
-will most likely happen. This is their beginning baseline instead of overwhelming new players or those that don’t use complicated addons.
When I first started ff14 their UI just made me almost push my chair back - though wth/f was more my reaction.
So, I think this is a good start, though I am scratching my head on the simpler things that were probably brought up in Beta and could have been easily adjusted.
What about it don’t you like? I’ve been playing with the new UI exclusively since the game launched and I think it’s pretty good. Are their features I miss from various addons? Totally. But I wouldn’t say it’s bad, and it’s definitely a huge step up from the classic UI.
Pretty sure the only thing you can resize now is raid frames, which you could resize before this UI. Now there’s just more bloat while having that same functionality. And technical/graphical issues. I’d hardly call this a “massive amount of options”. Especially because if this was important to you, you used an addon anyway. With less bloat.
I already said at least 3 times in the thread, most of the problems I have with it.
But most of it is summed up as “some stuff can be tweaked, but yet a baffling decision they made to not let you tweak other stuff” which just seems so weird and has me scratching my head going “Why can I shrink hotbars, but not the minimap or unit frames?” “Why can I increase the size of unit frames and hot bars, but not those stupidly tiny greyscale menu buttons?” “Why can’t I shrink the talking head window or remove it entirely?” etc
Love the new ui, got rid of all my base ui addons.
There’s apparently console commands for a lot of that, so i guess it’s coming they just didn’t make it in yet.
