Remember when every content creator said the new UI is AMAZING

If your posts got deleted, then there was clearly something wrong with them. So really, be mindful of how you post here.

I’ve had posts deleted because I’ve said things that aren’t cool. I’ve also had a lot of falsely flagged posts restored because there’s literally nothing wrong with them and Blizzard realizes that.

So just mind your tone and language while you’re here. No more problems.

Probably because the old default UI for a new toon looks very close to what Blizz is calling Classic.

Here’s a screenie I grabbed on Monday of a brand new toon for posterity…

I appreciate the advice, but I have screenshots of how unreasonable the deletions were. It’s obvious the trolls that came into this thread know how to game the system with flagging everything they could. Sometimes I was only replying with sarcasm to attempts at personal insults directed at me, “thanks for coming out, take care”.
In any case, whoever was working for free as mods this weekend were very spirited in their deletions. Blizz is not a hivemind, they are individual humans making bad/bias decisions loosely based on company compliance.

Yeah, but… the new UI has 3 hotbars smack-dab in the middle of the screen, 3x the size of the old ones, and it doesn’t even try to move the hotbars back down to where they used to be.

So? Turn them off it they bug you or move them. That’s the joy of finally having a built in UI Editor.

Yeah I seriously doubt any posts that you had that got deleted were ‘perfectly fine’ and you got a bad moderator for all of them.

My point was…

Classic Preset does not make the UI look anything like Classic did.

what’s the point of a preset that just moves one element of the screen but leaves the rest of it alone?

The classic preset should resize and move the hotbars close to where they were before, at the very least.

I mean, like I said,… I have the screenshots. You don’t. Is it worth arguing about?

Would you be this ignorant if a brand new player started playing and said the same thing? It’s not a clean experience. We’ve shown that in this thread. Why is that so hard to admit? It’s actually less energy to scroll on to another post where your opinion has value.

It’s not?

UI Editors are common in the modern gaming world. I’d like to think a fresh player would expect one in any new game they played and my response would be appropriate.

Now if we’re talking about the current players who seem to have a combination of crippling OCD and an odd, luddite like lack of computer skills? I guess you’d be right.

Correct, as per the discussion you’re ignoring, it’s not a clean experience.

Not sure why you give a hypothetical brand new player respect but want to insult existing players who are better than you at this game. Likely jealousy.

Anyone playing a new MMO is going to wonder why those 2-3 bars eventually pop up in the middle of their screen just because. Full stop. It’s bad design. Which you know, you’re just being the funniest guy you know how to be.

That’s reason 331 why all the previews and influencer content to sell us on this half baked roll out didn’t age well.

LOL a new player who’s experienced other games with a customizable UI wouldn’t blink an eye when the default pops up for them on WOW. It’s a standard design for a starter UI in particular because a lot of players use a gaming mouse and like a 3 stack to match their buttons.

And the existing players who are threatening to quit over this do deserve ridicule. If I had a guess I’d say most are older players who also make threads about the lack of world quest rewards and solo play. They’re also probably clickers since one of the complaints is having trouble clicking their abilities.

It’s not a clean experience, because when a new user attempts to customize the UI, they will find that half of the stuff can’t be moved or resized but yet the other half can, you can make the unit frames bigger, but not smaller, you can’t adjust the width without adjusting the height, and it will look like a trainwreck of a UI customizability feature.

Other games have FULLY customizable UI. Not “Halfway-There” customizability.

It will look like crap to anybody coming from other games.

That’s like… owning a house that has an outhouse as the only “bathroom” and then, you finally get around to installing your own bathroom, only you just have a toilet and a bathtub but no sink.

People are gonna use your bathroom and go “wtf? Where am I supposed to wash my hands?”

I still don’t understand what the issue is. It’s the same exact layout with a few touch-ups for modernization.

Uh?

really?

Have you SEEN pictures of the old layout?

The minimap is like 1.5x bigger (unnecessarily so), three hotbars are the standard default now and they are 3x bigger. Thank God you can shrink them, but they are up in the middle of the screen, instead of down on the bottom out-of-the-way. The unit frames now have animated portraits on them (which can be distracting), the menu buttons shrank and are now greyscale which makes it difficult to distinguish between them and they’ve been moved up into the play area instead of being tucked neatly at the bottom.

The bag UI is larger, probably 1.5x and worse yet, if you grab a consumable/useable item, it snaps the hotbar buttons to the foreground which makes it impossible to drop said item into any bag that it is overlapping.

None of this stuff (other than shrinking and moving the hotbars back) can be customized.

EDIT: It probably IS possible to shrink the minimap and the bags by adjusting the UI Scale (I know someone is going to suggest this), but… that will ALSO shrink the font which I don’t want.

EDIT2: Oh, and the XP bar can’t be moved or resized and is now a clear tube which can be hard to read against certain terrain behind it.

This isn’t even getting into the problems I have with the craft windows, such as the fact it is (seemingly? I couldn’t figure it out) impossible to look at all of your crafting skill bars in one place like you could before.

Like, I wanted to log on and work on crafts on some of my alts as I know some of them are still missing some craft levels in some older expansions while I wait for DF to come out, but oh wait… I can’t look at their levels without going through each expansion and even then, the blue meter doesn’t even work! It’s showing full on a character that has 122/175.

oh ok. So you are ignoring what I said, or just don’t understand it. :+1:

Can you quote anyone saying they’re going to quit over this? No. In fact, you will ignore I called you out here, too. We all know people quit WoW due to a death by 1000 cuts. Will someone look at this shoddy UI roll out and say, “eh, I’ll just take a break until DF lol”? Yes, and that is plenty reasonable. Make sure you ignore this point too, though.

Nope, again you are out of touch and/or not using your head. The folks that are getting the most out of the new ui and aren’t playing enough to notice the technical/graphical problems are the ones doing solo/WQ content, the occasional dungeon. Generally speaking. Not that it’s relevant, people play the game in many ways, I just wanted to shut you down again
Thanks for showing your ageism though, lol- like where did that come from?

This is what I meant when I said “few touch-ups for modernization.” This is typically the status quo for most MMOs these days, and as you said yourself, you can shrink them. Hardly a big deal.

This is the only valid criticism.

You mean crap like this?

“OMG what am I supposed to do with these 3 Bars in the middle of my screen?”
…said no one with half a brain and any gaming experience.

LOL what?

It’s the players who’ve been using the stock UI for years who are the most negative right now and that group are likely not doing high end content. Most players who have been Raiding, doing Arena’s/RBG’s and/or M+ for years use a custom UI .

I get it. It’s tough killing Rares in ZM when the Dragon art on your Hot Bars looks different.

It’s pretty comical that I’ve shut down all of your “arguments” you invented to harass people taking issue with the UI, but you don’t have the self awareness to move on. Impressive even.
If you can’t be honest with why you’re defending hot air content creators with empty anecdotes against people with legitimate concerns, that’s fine. It’s 2022, cowardice is pretty prevalent these days.

Maybe folks quit because of people like you. Does that make you feel empowered?

Actually, it’s awesome. L2UI.

Well this didn’t last long…

The only legit concern is that every element in the UI can’t be moved and resized. Complaints about the dragon art or that the stock UI begins with 3 Hot Bars instead of the 2 in the old UI are specious at best.

Any modern gamer will be comfortable seeing this new UI for the first time and is likely a big reason Blizz changed things.
