I think the part where Blizzard mentioned rewards is misquoted/misremembered.
The context was specifically regarding items that have been removed from Retail (i.e. old ZG mounts, old sets, etc). The blue post itself says specifically that whatever you earn in Classic will remain in Classic (man I miss Ythisens…)
This is more a cross promotion like the flame saber from Heroes or the mounts from Hearthstone.

Yup, which is not happening with this new mount. What you earn in Classic actually ends up in Retail with this mount instead. “Play Classic to earn something in Retail”

Again, it hasn’t, you’re just being obtuse. A promotional reward for a starter experience isn’t the same as gear and items no longer available in retail being earned in classic and showing up on your retail account.

You’re not earning it in Classic. You’re playing Classic and it gets rewarded in Retail.
What you’re specifically referring to is the idea that the items you earn in Classic cannot be transferred to Retail, which is still true. This is an entirely new item that didn’t exist in either version of the game, so it isn’t the same thing.
What this mount is is more comparable, as I said, to Heroes and Hearthstone. It isn’t removing a reward from one to give to another or even sharing between the two. You’re taking what the yak said out of context without including the rest of his explanation, which is specifically responding to items in Classic being used on Retail accounts.

Feel free to link whatever proof you have that they said we would never earn something new in retail that does not exist in Classic.
The mount is not available in Classic. It is a brand new item that only exists in retail.
There are no old things that only exist in Classic that will transfer over to Retail.

Microsoft owns Blizzard now and they’re pushing for some major changes, you’re going to see a lot of things get more friendly like they used to be and that’s not a bad thing at all IMO.
