That’s awesome, I’ve been practicing art and have tried to decide if I want to go back to school for it even though I hated it (graduated as an engineer, learning quickly I don’t care about math as much as I thought).
The armor set might not have taken long, but they did still program in the quest line. Which still probably didn’t take long, but that “not taking long” would have been great honestly for the Undead instead of the Elves for this pass. I just think it’s weird that we got a quest line to get Lordaeron back to livable standards and the reward was customization for unrelated races.
Void Elves have a dual identity. They will always be High elves as well.
The 1st gen of Void Elves are actual Blood elves who were exiled from Silvermoon along with Magister Umbric and thus joined Alleria in the Alliance. We know that Blood Elves are just High Elves with a different name, so in terms of genetics, ancestry and their history, this means Void Elves are High Elves too.
Also, High Elf Wayfarer NPCs were placed in Telogrus Rift to study the Void for a reason. Although not canonically confirmed, there is good chance these High Elf Wayfarers are dabbling into the Void and learning how to harness its power along with the others, which is a separate reason adding to Void Elves also being High Elves. This is further reinforced by Steve Danuser’s comment that Void Elves are open to those who want to research more opportunities for power and thus join the Void Elf ranks (which explains the presence of High Elf Wayfarers and Silvermoon Scholars).
And just like Alleria’s appearance was not altered other than her Entropic Embrace form, in a similar manner some Void Elves could remain unchanged even after a Void infusion. Those choosing that look could well be Void Elves who studied the Void and used it as an empowerment, but remained unchanged.
I’m doing a double major in software engineering and digital art because I will burn out if I don’t use both my technical and creative skills on the regular.
And yes, many of the customization things like hair colors should have taken longer.
I should make a video where I program a few Photoshop macros and make a ton (hundreds) of hair colors in minutes to demonstrate how easy it is.
Good. I hit my burnout and now I’m working a job that pays very well that I don’t enjoy while trying to build up the art skill I ignored while focusing too much on doing well in school. Im trying to find that balance. WoW art has helped, at least!
If you want to get into 3d modeling, blender is free and pretty close to Maya, works better in some cases. Maya runs $240 a year for hobbyists and developers that earn less than 200k a year or something using the software.
You can find lots of tutorials online for modeling.
How you want to use your elf is different from what your elf actually is. You can choose to not dabble with the Void, and join the Void elf ranks still as a supporter. You can still choose to be called a Void Elf or High elf should you wish, that’s up to you.
But are Void Elves, regardless if changed by the Void or not, also High elves? Well yeah, by definition of their genetics, ancestry and history they are. Just like Blood Elves are, even if they denounced that name in favour of their fallen brethren
And? Literally everybody knows who you’re talking about unless you’re on this forum because that’s the way the WoW definition works.
Once again, if you’re using the technicality of which Elf belonged to which faction then we’re also talking about Night Elves right now because - Highborne.
