Reasons why gnomes are cool?

I don’t think it will change.

Unless the High Elf model was just objectively worse the blood elf / anti crowd is gonna be upset.

Its not really a group that should be catered to either. They’re not asking the question, “How do we satisfy High Elf players?” Its not about making it work. Their goal is just misery for Alliance players.

Thats why they are all about deleting alliance high elves or obese alliance high elves.

They have no interest in a solution that makes anyone happy other than their enjoying someone elses misery.

You can’t do game design like that.

Its ehy they always lose too. They chose a position where they cannot win.

I understand the intent here and I feel for your plight. I think many fans both of void elves and high elves have thought this at one point or another.

I do think that ship has sailed honestly.

Blizzard won’t take options away once given, nor would I want them to set that precedent, and for better or worse void elves are now stuck with three themes.

It’s also not like we cannot use the high elf options for our void elves. I see Fenelon as a full void elf as he is right now, and while in my rp he’s very different, he was like this along his journey and still a void elf.

I’m less sure on those dark ranger options but I’ve seen some void fans already working out entertaining head canon for it.

It would be ideal if we didn’t have to share or make other folk unhappy with the high elf request but it is what it is now.

It’s my hope in the future they’ll add more lore and more void options which will help to expand the race as it was originally envisioned and give us our desperately needed rudder. But for now we have to be patient.

Always give the Elves more. I guess who cares about any other player, the Elves should always be put front and center. They get more customization before anyone else, a second heritage armor before anyone else, they took over the supposed update to lacking allied race customization because of course they did, and they’re still asking for more.

Even if they got that divide, the next step would be asking for everything Belves have customization wise. And of course the Void Elves would then need customization for themselves if the split were to happen, and with Blizzard’s cadence of customization release that’ll be an entire expansion of focusing solely on the Elves. Then the following expansion the Elves (whichever ideology version of them) will ask for more and of course they’ll get those as well, maybe a Helf allied race armor before anyone else gets theirs despite many base races not having it yet.

The Elf models literally just got a new option for customization. And the Helf community will be taught that throwing tantrums and insulting everyone else will get them their way and sets a bad precedent for that. No, they can keep their Velf character that looks like a Helf.

The only way I’ll support them getting their name tag is if we completely abolish factions entirely, remove the divide, and part of the character creation screen can be choosing their flavor of Blood Elf.

Exactly. In-fact, I wouldn’t mind if both races were named Thalassian, High Elves or kept as they are now. Appearance-wise, one can look as a High, Half, “Dark - Fallen (not to be confused with San’layn)/undead” on either faction now. There’s also Blood Elves unique to the Horde (golden, green eyes) and Void (Entropic Embrace) unique to the Alliance. Whether all of these Thalassian subraces should have different names and/or racial-abilities is left to devs, although it may be too late / not a good idea to simply change existing races. Rather, it should be possible to create new ones, but I assume it’s currently not seen as a priority / necessity.

Dude you got a lot of customization in 9.1.5 for your HMT, and LFD got customizatons too. We have 4 Elven races in-game, they can’t just be ignored…

The one hipe would basically be a subrace toggle.

But the problem there is you end up removing some customization options. So its a real tough sale.

Currently there is an issue based on the customizatione though. It comes across as rp options and that leaves people room to troll you

That shouldn’t matter, but it does because there are two adversarial factions and so it gives Horde players a way to, “Hurt” Alliance players.

That shouldn’t be the way that it is, but thats exactly where we are at.

Probably an unexpected design oversight based on the adverserial relationship of factions.

And its a big problem because its imposing a mental health cost on the game.

I mean, you can’t really argue for sustaining for Void Elf identity by removing Alliance High Elf identity.

it cant happen because blood elves are salty that void elves get their toys.

Mort…why would blizzard give us high elves when they gave us high elf customization?

I can’t speak for others but I think some likely are and others aren’t.

The reasons abound at this point. I’ve seen many on all three or more sides of it. Hard to account for subjectivity.

I wouldn’t mind that. Lore to clearly show what’s happening and how we make more of course is one of my constant refrains.

Just be patient. Faction wont be a thing(at least not a restriction) in 2 expansions, max. Then you can play your Alliance High Elf with the REAL High Elf racials instead of the Void Elf ones.

Four Elven races, Void Elves barely got anything because a lot of it was High Elf focused. Blood Elves, Void Elves, and Night Elves all got a new customization. Blood Elves got a second set of special armor before even the Night Elves did.

They can’t be ignored, but they have been extremely favored since Void Elves got added because Blizzard caved to the High Elf fans and added those in. Hell, even Nightborne are still lacking in options compared to the other three flavor of Elves and that’s after a pass.

HMT and LFD got some options, but they’re still more limited compared to the Elves. Worgen got screwed in the initial pass, Trolls got mega-screwed, Zandalari haven’t yet had a pass and neither have KT, Mecha-Gnomes are still limited as well.

But the Elves continue to get more options. Night Elves themselves now have two unique customizations to them that are story based, and many base races are missing heritage armor still. It’s really frustrating to see patch stuff always favor the Elves.

Back in the day, both prior to VEs coming out and after their launch, there was a very strong High elf forum presence, and these ppl were requesting High elves for over a decade. I have respect towards that kind of dedication to be honest, and I see nothing wrong that they were eventually added. Horde had requested for stuff for much less like Vulpera and Mag’har and still got it.

They have more total options than Void elves but could still use some work, like some lighter skin tones and better faces.

Or the actual Nightborne model.

This webcomic predicted WoW before the game even released, lol.

Ogres would like to say hi. Still a big push, still nothing. Not to mention Troll races like Drakkari, proper Farakki, Gurubashi, and Amani. All of which have been requested, but because the presence isn’t as large as High Elves no one seems to care.

Exactly. The Blood Elf and Night Elf models have a lot more customization than a lot of other races. There needs to be a focus on those still lacking before more get added. And I honestly don’t care about population size; that excuse is exactly why Hrothgar are overlooked and ignored in FF14 and I want to believe Blizzard is better than pleasing the majority at the expense of minority. I can’t help but be resentful of Elves because they’re constantly getting things while other original WoW races are completely ignored.

The High Elf community have been more of a plague than a positive force on the forums. And they’re the embodiment of the cautionary tale of “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”. While I can semi-respect their zeal, they’ve also been bullies for just as long. And now that they’ve been given an inch, they want the entire world.
