Reasons why gnomes are cool?

Big doubt, I simply stopped posting for a long period. I never aired my view on it until this year at the earliest.
If I had responded on an earlier post I would have simply replied to the post in question, not based on my personal opinion of the matter.

Releasing Void Elves is not damage.

There was never High Elves, there was never the promise of High Elves. The fact that there are no High Elves should be as much of a non-issue as the lack of Murlocs, or the lack of Ogres.

Incorrect, I have nothing against people fight for what they believe in. I take issue with the manner in which people take that action, and the manner in which again many, not all, of the “pro-high elf” community has been far from respectful, far from rationalised, and predominantly spam.

For what? Not giving Alliance High Elves in an expansion that had nothing to do with High Elves?
For not kowtowing to players complaining because what they got was “not good enough”?

The developers have bent over backwards to try and accommodate a community which frankly doesn’t deserve it, and they just get more abuse for it.

The only disappointment I have is towards the perceived injustice that so many people are showing.

You cannot blame one side alone here. If we would go and look for postings which ignited these spam topics right now after this post, you will find out that these are the same people who do this on both sides.

This is not quite true. The central backbone plot focused on Alleria and Turalyon in a three hour audio drama which sets up the Legion-finale. Where things went wrong was in the distribution of the ARs.

Let yourself educate by not being biased towards one side and you will have a better understanding of the whole situation. It’s not black and white, it’s morale grey™.

I would be happy to be better informed if you can link the Blizzard post/s that promised High Elves which started it all.
I’m willing to challenge my own opinion if an opposing antagonist is demonstrated.

That still had nothing to do with High Elves. Turalyon a Human, and Alleria was already far gone with the void.
I’d understand an argument for brokeresque figures that deal with Alleria during the whole situation, or even for the Broken that represented Argus, but there was (I would go as far as say absolutely zero) very little High Elf presence in the whole Argus storyline.

As Alliance outside of Dalaran I also don’t recall having any High Elf interaction throughout the rest of Legion either. (Maybe there are some guards on Broken Shore?)

I don’t see where you get the impression that High Elves were eluded to as being a potential option.

The same can equally said for the opposing side, but I started there, it was the influence of information that pushed me towards this side.
As I stated previous I had no horse in this race, I had nothing against High Elves being a race, although I don’t believe there is much evidence that there should.
(The High Elves in question are those who abandoned their heritage to stay within the Alliance instead of leave with the rest of their race who eventually became Blood Elves, and can you really claim racial heritage after betraying your own people?)

Where are you getting this from? I haven’t seen any real demands for playable High Elves for a long time - apart from the typical trolls and perhaps 2-3 people, there’s just one person on the EU forums who keeps bumping the High Elf thread, which would have died a long time ago if it wasn’t because of him. I’ve only seen people having an issue with Void Elves looking similar to Blood Elves now all of a sudden asking for High Elves to be implemented as a playable race.

No one in the High Elf or Void Elf communities has ever had the repulsive wish for the death of a real life person. That’s crossing all of the red lines and would never be tolerated in any of said communities, not even in the form of “venting”.

I’m currently cooking but I’ll jump onto this part quickly:
I really don’t understand the logic behind this comparison and what this has to do with the topic? I’m not interested in discussing the feud these people have.

tbf no matter how well informed you’re going to struggle to find a spam thread about why someone doesn’t want high elves added to the game.

That’s also true for Nightborn but look where we are on that front.

This will be nice .
I am actually really happy with the Void elves and the costumisation wich they have.
I would only add Fastrider Tattoos , like those here

Actually, we are now thinking who will be the Orc leader when Thrall retires again.

I’m thinking Genn or Velen. But some have propposed Tyrande, we’ll see.

All shall pray at the altar of the boy king. All shall worship the little lion.

He’s in the maw. Pray for his well being. May the Light hear you.

Did people not watch the cutscene in Legion when we got the allied races? Void Elves mess with the sunwell just by being there. There was a reason they were cast out and it had nothing to do with politics.

I think it is more then likely half elves will he a standalone race then direct high elves since blizzard see’s them as simply a blood elf on alliance (hence why they gave void elves the skin unfortunately)

There is an interview I cannot find on google right now but they are aware of the request and stating the fact they need some kind of uniqueness to release them. The only discussion I can offer you now is a wowhead special which has the infamous “the Horde is waiting for you” quote inside.

I agree with you here - but the point is, she is the poster star for the Alliance High Elves which brought up several topics (“why can’t we look like her”, Entropic Embrace, etc.). Blizzard went back on their initial idea two times already which should you tell a lot and the community’s perception (we’re not speaking of the US forums alone here).

Void Elf players are the actual losers here but this was to be expected when you go against the initial request and we all see that Blizzard are in full force when it comes to the backpaddling. Dark Rangers? Make no sense for the Void Elves, unless you want to count them as Undead High Elf options.

There are none as far as I remember.

It has been a long lasting request, ever before Legion was released. It is a known request. And with every update they will come closer to this, which is actually extremely remarkable.

In the end, there are several truths out there:

  • People want to play Alliance High Elves
  • People don’t want others to play Alliance High Elves
  • People are pushing a narrative on both sides
  • The Alliance High Elf-players won the initial fight, otherwise there wouldn’t be High Elf options for the Void Elves

The only solution to save the Void Elves is to give the Alliance their own High Elf race, either by a subrace system or glyphs. The sooner Blizzard fulfills the request, the better it is for everyone involved in these topics.

Nah. Go all the way. Give the Alliance what they actually want.
Put Blood Elves on the Alliance. Change the name to High Elves. Merge them with Void Elves. Palette swap red colored faction stuff to blue for all the former BE cultural stuff. Then delete all undead and vulpera characters. Maybe drop the Nightborne on the Alliance too for good measure.
