Not necessarily since it’s already there and only needs to be enabled.
They have a very nice schedule format they put upcoming features on. This is a feature that a lot of people have been waiting for, some of whom would resubscribe to play if it came back. That’s why I feel that no news is not good news for people who want this.

They never said when they would add it just that they would they can make you wait till the very end of the expansion tough luck.
Dragon riding is far superior in terms of speed and fun.
Only people who want to afk high above a spawn point would enjoy the old flying more. Just log out for a few minutes if you want to afk

Absolutely, any time I have to go back to old flight in the old world it is painful, so slow, so boring auto-run and watch youtube or whatnot until the much later time when getting there.
Did a test using soar just because I was curious, and getting to the northernmost flightpath in Highmountain from Legion Dalaran took ~4 minutes by regular flight, and ~2:30 by Soar, which isn’t even as fast as regular Dragonriding (the 630% or whichever they nerfed it to from Dragonridings 830%+). Not even counting it being actually interactive and enjoyable to use (less so with Soars limited number of skill uses, but still)
All that said, I do agree it would be best for both to be available, as there really isn’t any reason those who just won’t use/dislike Dragonriding for whatever reason shouldn’t be able to still fly the way they want to as well.

Because it doesn’t affect you when someone goes 410% speed and you’re doing between 800% to 1200% speed.
What challenges? Literally no one asked to use old flying for races.

not true, I like farming better regular flight , i like being able to sneak up to caves or buildings and put on the breaks, and then hover to see what is inside without argoing mobs, or just sight seeing and exploring is better normal , there are more reasons but I can say it is not just to afk

It just means instead of trying to hover and do it the fast way, you could just park and walk in to check it out. I wouldn’t add 20 seconds to whatever you’re doing

You do realize people with vision issues and brain issues cannot handle dragonriding, yes? Speed, mechanics, etc aren’t a thing that everyone can do. Slower flying for them helps their brain or eyes process what’s going on or the lack of mechanics helps their ability to focus or do things.
I have brain fog that affected me neurologically back from COVID. For quite a while, I could barely remember what keys I should be hitting on the keyboard.
I was fine with some parts of the game and not others.
It’s getting better for me, but people that have permanent disabilities don’t have that luxury. They can still play parts of this game just fine. But the spatial awareness of dragonriding can mess that all up.
