I dont think we did.
Seems like I just opened my launcher one day and there it was asking if I wanted to download.
Let me put it this way: if you were trying to reach a given objective (let’s say glyphs) with dragon riding, but you run out of stamina, so instead you resort to flying around old-style until you collect all the glyphs, it would defeat the point, I think. It would take something away from the experience. Perhaps they could make such thing obtainable only through dragonriding, but it would leave one or the other situational, which would disrupt the expansion’s continuity.
It’s barely even announced and not even in PTR, so maybe hold your horses?
Ah ok, cuz i know alot of people on the forums where saying they got epic edition and they didnt get beta haha
old flying is better for exploring and farming, all dragon flying is better at is getting from A to B asap. I for one hope they give both options moving forward.
I find exploring and farming more enjoyable with dragon flying. This makes no sense. Once you’ve collected all the glyphs, getting around is a real breeze. (literally)
I want to use jet streams to fly my dragon from continent to continent .
lol… I handle that by flying low, skimming the ground and even ground hoofing it a lot.
Since DRing is so fast, makes it feel ok to take a break and run around on the ground for a bit.
I really enjoy landing and taking the roadways a lot more than I used to.
I heard there may be a toggle for regular flying when you beat the Eastern Kingdom cup in October. Or do it…
they usually put the regular flying in a year after expansion launch
To each their own I guess. Dragonriding is the best feeling transportation upgrade since OG flying was added in TBC.
I’m not against having both options. But lets be real, the only use for old world flying at this point is afk hovering.
Everything else? Dragonriding has completely outclassed old flying for me in every way imaginable. When I am forced to use the traditional flying mounts I feel like I am moving at a snails pace.
I’ll admit, It probably helps that I am downright amazing at Dragonriding without much effort. Not like its a flex, but I gold like 90% of the DR courses my first try. If I was terrible at it, or just couldn’t get the hang of it, I would probably not like it either.
I cant even imagine traversing the Dragon Isles at this point on an old style flying mount, I would die of old age before finishing my quests.
That said, I still think it should be an option.
Never going to happen.
My only complaint is that DR doesn’t apply to my other dragon/wyvern mounts.
Would love if they removed flying altogether and went back to vanilla style zones.
You and like five people, maybe.
Couldn’t think of a quicker way to kill this game tbh.
i thought they said they were going to add old world flying already
The only ‘fight’ comes from people who don’t want old flying in. People who struggle with, or are just tired of Dragonriding (like me) simply feel bummed they can’t use normal mounts and normal flying in the expansion right now. It’d be kinda crummy for them to wait until the very last patch to give us the option.
Also for whatever reason, Dragonriding fans feel like having the option of both is bad and awful and devalues their enjoyment of Dragonriding… somehow? I don’t get it either, but you see how quickly they come out of the woodwork any time someone expresses disappointment about lack of news regarding old flying being added to the Isles.
They tried that in WoD and it went about as well as you’d think.
When they realized that a lot of people were being inconvenienced by the difficulty they had managing dragonflying, Ion said normal flight was coming “in a later patch”. Since then we have had numerous announcements about extension of dragonriding, so clearly they’re working on that. But not a word about normal flying being enabled in DF content.
I’m pretty sure they never had any intention of enabling normal flight originally, and only said they would do it after people started leaving over the issue. I think they thought people would just get used to dragonriding. Perhaps they’re still waiting for that to happen. Maybe they realized that they waited so long for those players to come around that most of them had left and wouldn’t be back.
If it was on their schedule, I think they would have said something.
They did just not when. My guess has always been 10.2 but it wasn’t mentioned although we’ll know more when the PTR is updated either today or tomorrow. If not 10.2 then who knows.
