Re-Enable the Character Clone Service - Players Want to Return

That does not address what I quoted:

How is it different? As far as I can see, item IDs are unchanged between Era and Wrath. Transferring data such as race/customization, level, reputation, equipment, etc should be at least somewhat trivial.

If they wanted to omit some data to make the process easier, they could. Things like flightpath and exploration data. I’d even be okay with losing all of my reputations, pvp ranks/titles, quest completion data. I’m sure there’s more.

Do not reopen the clone service.

Those people who didn’t love classic enough to either choose it over TBC or to spend an additional $15 on it should start over at level 1.

0/10 trolling there, bud. Even if you’re serious, I doubt they’d look at your post and think “Man, we better listen to this guy and ignore all the people asking for their characters back.”

That’s irrelevant. We should not have needed to ‘prove how much we love classic’ like it’s some sort of cult. This is purely about this being the first and only time a character service of this nature was permanently removed, which blindsided a lot of people. Also, as has been stated before, the servers were mostly dead throughout the run of the clone service, and server population is the primary factor in players choosing to spend money on these services or not. Now that classic era is popular again, it is perfectly understandable and natural that more people would choose to use this service if it were available.

Of course you are, NOT! They said they can’t do it. Just accept that.

We need this, everyone I talk to as well as my entire guild want to clone their characters. In the case for my guild and I, we want our characters back so badly. For many of us they are a second identity.

They can restore deleted characters already. Blizzard doesn’t simply delete data, it exists.

Yes, it does exist, on the Wrath servers. Which is why they permanently deleted the Era version. Blizzards words not mine.

The different data between the two expansions is far too much to change back.

Literally nothing you say matters until we hear it from them. Why are you fighting so hard against those of us asking for this?

The more you reply, the more I’m sure you have no idea what you’re talking about.

Don’t care. You made your choice. Deal with the consequences.

You’re treating this like people were picking sides in a war or something. It’s not that significant. People simply moved their characters to what was popular at the time, and there is nothing wrong with that in an MMO. Blizzard should cater to its consumers by allowing them to keep their options open.

We talking about the clones in here? Still got my screen shots and credit card, waiting for the phone call from Kotick

Discussions of the clones will most likely continue until a new blue post is made. Begun, the Clone War has.

A blue post has been made and a support article is there.

It’s not coming back.

Even if I actually agreed with you late adopters (and shout out to the teach for America folks who previously leveled to 60 and got Naxx bis before moving to the upper peninsula where there was no internet and then moved back to civilization 3 weeks after classic Era started popping off again) I don’t care.

How many times do they need to say it? THEY’RE GONE, GET OVER IT!

Because they were asking 15$ a pop for someone who had 6geared chars thats a price of 2 triple A games for a game I already bought back in the day, paid sub, bought again in 2019 paid sub again and then they want me to pay more to be able to play my chars in classic. It was outrageous thats why many of us didnt do it, they gave us batching, pay to win bundles, boosts and token. I regret not saving my chars, because i invested lot of time in them, but none told us there was a deadline to do so either.

To all these people saying they cant bring it back, thats the exactly same thing they were saying about classic in the 1st place. But when they figured out how many people want it, they somehow found all the original data…

Why do you care? We’re going to keep asking because there are still options to explore. gEt OvEr iT.

Someone doesn’t know what actually happened.

They didn’t use the “original” data, that had gone too, they used the Legion server software. I mean who would want to play on 18 year old servers?

So they actually remastered it using more up to date software.
