You can’t tell them that they don’t understand.
In all honesty I wouldnt let it phase you mate, with all the recent announcements it seems like it is innevitable that we will hear back on the character cloning service soon. Bring it back blizzard, we want our characters! reinstate the character cloning service!
Honestly you don’t really need to say that stuff straight out when they comment. I enjoy a bit of back and forth to boost up the threads lol.
Eh it can be a little frustrating when you have automated responses from one user posting on a 60 e.g that priest then his warlock level 10 alt, then a wotlk character lol the effort he/she is putting in is very minimal to disguise it. Blizzard should show linked accounts on posters so you can see when someone is spamming on their alt accounts like that gate keeping troll. Hopefully blizzard makes a blue post soon announcing the return of classic-era character cloning and setttles the matter once and for all.
Re-enable it.
if they give us option to clone our old toons back, imagine how much money they could make and idiot who is making decision for this should be fired. Just imagine if transfer costed 25$, i would pay and transfer at least 4 characters. There are many players who will do the same and transfer multiple characters as well.
I don’t like this argument, it honestly sounds a little cult like. We shouldn’t have needed to ‘keep up with the joneses’ like that in order to keep our characters. OP is right that the service was turned off rather arbitrarily. Also, many people were in the middle of TBC at the time and the classic era servers were dead. The higher population now means everything and I’m sure many more would have cloned their characters if it had been as lively as it is now.
I am. You clearly didnt care very much about yours, considering you condemned it to the dead expansions.
Your laughable attempt at guilt tripping isnt gonna bring lost data back or give sympathy either.
“We lacked the foresight to clone, therefor we HAVE TO join the gold buying cheaters in GDKP” Yea right.
Attempt 2341241413242134 of bringing lost clone data back failed. Try again.
Rest easy friend, im playing my cloned paladin every day!
I truly do not understand the perspective of defending blizzard on this. We should not have needed to have foresight. Blizzard, being a company that ostensibly wants to cater to its customers, should have services which facilitate players doing things on their own time in their own way. It basically doesn’t matter why people didn’t clone their characters, because the onus is not on them to follow blizzard’s lead, but rather it’s the other way around.
I thought it was pretty obvious, the data was in two places so they removed one instance of it.
I’ve always thought that Blizzard would have brought it back if they could, because of their greed and since they haven’t then that means they can’t.
or maybe they are very late to do what people want. Wouldnt be the first time. ahem vanilla ahem. Maybe they are making sure they dont break something by bringing it back, like they broke server transfers back in som that was an entire mess.
I agree. I had a mage in BWL gear that got sent to WOTLK or something and I had no idea this was going to happen. Super disappointing.
Currently leveling up a new character but all I see are guilds spamming about GDKP and the leveling experience has been brutal because horde camp lowbies all day in every zone lmao.
They’re gone, get over it.
People can’t get over it, I understand why but the service and data is gone.
It’s something they need to accept. The service was there for quite some time but Era was close to dead for most of that time so they didn’t clone, even when it was cheap.
Not entirely. I’m sure a lot of people coming back to find their characters on Wrath Classic haven’t touched the character since. If they’re still 60 and don’t have any BC/Wrath items on them, then we should be able to transfer them back to classic era. Not for free of course, and they’d need to do checks to make sure no items slipped through the cracks.
This is an old thread but this is false.
Blizzard sent out several emails advertising the cloning service. And they were only ever advertised as temporary.
But I get it though. You took a break for years. You moved to a place with 0 internet for years. You died and came back to life after a few years. Your cat was on fire…for years.
The data on wrath is different to the data Era uses and the time needed to make the program would far outweigh the money they could recoup on the service.
Blizzard have already said they can’t transfer the data back.
Could I get a source on this, please?
Sounds like a guess to me. Would rather hear it from them. It’s not like they’d have to develop the process from scratch. It would be a transfer with a bunch of checks in place, or however they’d best decide to do it.
They said customer service couldn’t, not that it was impossible.
“Customer Service cannot restore deleted clones or transfer active clones to different game versions.”
The link I gave.
