Can anybody who’s anti RDF because of community reason please explain why FF14 has the same system, but manages to have a nice community?
IMO, the system isn’t the issue. It’s the players.
That said, even if you think RDF ruined the community, that damage has already been done and can’t be undone. Removing it won’t make anything better.
You are conveniently leaving out the afk people, who will not be there when summon goes out. Making you find a replacement, then while doing that you lose 2 more people because this is taking too long. Nothing will change player behavior.
I love FFXIV. I play it as much as I can. The answer to ur question is it’s far more than just rdf, GW2 has no rdf and is an equally lovely community. But I don’t play FFXIV -becuase of the queuing system- especially into savage etc. The binding coils felt like a real place but like alphascape didn’t Eden didn’t feel like a real place and asphodel didn’t.
Is this fair? Because of it’s lack of queus it’s classic is like an experience not really found anymore outside of like GW2 which is VERY DIFFERENT in many more fundamental ways, and a significant group of us want to retain that. What blizzard called the “spirit of classic”

This is a really good point that I think a lot of people miss. You just don’t get this kind of vibe anywhere else and that’s what a lot of people playing Classic are looking for. It’s the overall experience, not necessarily the faithful recreation of the original patch.
Just because the game didn’t change doesn’t mean the people playing it haven’t either. Classic/TBC has been a very different experience in 2019 to 2022 than it was in 2004 to 2008.
I am thankful that Blizzard is wanting to preserve that spirit of Classic. Where they land and how well they achieve that is up in the air, but I appreciate that they are trying.
Yes! Nail on the head! And believe it or not I respect all of y’all’s opinions to believe wotlk would be fine with all of this QOL that we don’t want. But you aren’t owed it. The playerbase I believe must be split for bliz to feel confident in the decision in the first place. I’ve always been here talking about compromises and how to solve issues without disenfranchising people on either side. And most of what I’ve been met with is gaslighting, abusiveness and derision.
