Their purpose is the same as the rest of the game.
Entertainment.
When getting to the entertainment is too much of a chore it simply isnāt done.
Just follow your own stupid argument to itās logical conclusion.
If they serve no purpose, RDF would not make them run ever.
Thus, thereās nothing to gain by adding RDF and your opposition of it serves no purpose, you could just let it slide in and nothing would change.

Oh yeah, the 10 silver quest rewards is surely why people play MMOs, not cause they want to play with other people.

Sorry, going from Desolace to Scarlet Monestary isnāt entertaining, itās getting on a couple of flight paths and running through a level 50 zone at level 30ish.

No because classic didnāt have RDF, classic TBC didnāt have RDF. Adding it goes against their design for classic and its people coming from retail asking for it.
And scarlet monastery isnāt worth running.
