There are examples of that in this thread. Videos, even. I’ve had a character name RCR’ed three times, overturned by GM’s who explicitly stated the flag was unwarranted and my name wasn’t inappropriate despite being auto flagged that it was, and gave me my name back. It got to the point I was suspended for a day, as in not being able to play the game I pay for, and just saying “fine, I’ll just rename my main because wow players are just too sensitive or resentful they don’t like my name and keep flagging it so I’ll change it.” I was gifted free play time for my trouble in the end, in case you somehow think I was in the wrong for that.
Can’t say I’ve ever been silenced in game because I know which battles to pick and choose and ignore engaging people.
I’m suspecting we are not getting the full story. That’s the problem with personal anecdotes. I have Blue quotes stating that Name Report are not automaticlly flagged. So Im calling your “anecdote” a little suspect.
Such rumors are common. It isn’t automated. Naming reports are reviewed by Game Masters.
What else could be the full story to a name being RCR’ed, overturned by an individual GM every time, and gifted free time after frustration of just having to rename your main?
No. It was just a stupid name that didn’t make much sense, wasn’t against the ToS or CoC, but kept getting flagged. It wasn’t as glamorous as Headbutt or Hoofsniffer.
I was actually able to recreate an alt of the same name because uh, IT BROKE NO RULES AND NEVER WILL.
