Rated Solo Shuffle Update

sadly, unless they clear it up otherwise, blizzard is saying that

One of the biggest things I’ve noticed with the solo shuffle is the targeting of super low-geared players.

Hopefully with a rating, this will sort of self-regulate. It will be tough to push rating with no gear.

As to the rewards, I think this is fine. Frankly, I feel it might be harder to “push rating”, with a yolo team every queue.

Either way, people need to chill with defining their entire identity around the PvP Fomo rewards.

I’ve long been an advocate for either putting it in the “disney vault” to be pulled out after x or y number of xpacs, or requiring rating in current season to buy old sets, or treat it like vicious mounts - x conquest after cap, or all of the above, etc.

If we have to start this only from 10.0 and forward, so people can’t lean on the “advertised as such” non-sense, then let’s just do that. “Starting with elite sets introduced in 10.0 and beyond, the prior paragraph conditions apply” … something like that.

So a match goes for 5 completed rounds. Someone rage quits round 6 while the gates are still closed, and nobody who participated gains or loses cr/mmr based on the 5 completed rounds? The only result of this match is a deserter debuff for the rage quitter?

yes. this is what they are saying.

Can you confirm that this includes the 1800 xmog?

I mean they didn’t explicitly say that… I honestly would have assumed when they talked about it counting as 6 individual matches for the sake of mmr it would make sense that if someone left after 3, it would just calculate the mmr change for those 3 at the very least. But if it currently behaves the way you’ve explained where no one gets rating changes on beta it sounds like that’s how it is going to go live at least for the prepatch season.

The only issue with calculating rating changes based on a portion of the games is any players who played the least games against the leaver (assuming the leaver lost every game) get’s penalized more than the other players for them leaving. They’d need to incorporate some sort of protection for those who lost while on the leaver’s team more than others because they didn’t get as many chances to play against and beat the leaver before they left.

Be great to have solo added to wotlk

Because the players running in traditional 3v3 comps will whine and cry, and theyre much louder than we are.

i understand both arguments, for and against gladiator in solo.

but im biased, because to start, im lazy. i hate sifting through the same twenty comps that want a healer, only to find one that falls apart immediately because X Y or Z happened and standard PVP nonsense transpired. twenty minutes to run one arena, take a rating loss, and then wind up in LFG again looking for another team.

second, in constructed teams, youre expected to chit chat and learn and grow blah blah blah. i dont really care for all that. i dont even engage my guild mates most of the time. i know that’s low hanging fruit for someone to go "hurr hurr, you shouldnt be so anti-social in a game with tons of social interaction.

but let’s be real… pvp players trend towards the toxic. in solo, i can just disable instance chat, and thats that. no flaming, no expectation of social interaction, just smashing each others faces in, the way the Titans intended.

solo ranked is honestly a godsend of an idea for someone like me. i just wanna go in, and play. it doesnt need to be more complicated. this isnt the Normal versus LFG debate; the rewards dont need to be exclusive; it’s still rated pvp.

One more voice toward, punish the leaver hard.
It’s the only thing that matter, ramping 15 min debuff and 0-6 rating loss.

Even if you don’t give rewards to the other players, it’ll steadily weed out every leavers to the bottom of the leaderboard.
This is the obvious solution, fix it quick.

Please add a unique mount for this bracket.

there has to be a rating loss penalty for leaving or the system just will not work. Deserter debuff just doesn’t matter enough to stop the issue.

In my opinion leaving out Glad rewards makes zero sense. I could understand R1 rewards based on their reasoning but Glad? No, glad is a static rating reward now and no longer % based. The way Glad is currently earned is actually perfectly suited to Solo Shuffle (Actually it’s probably better suited for Solo Shuffle now than it does in 3s w/ payed carries and boosters). As it currently stands once you hit Duelist in Solo Shuffle the only other meaningful reward is the R1 Title reward which is obviously percentage based. Basically they put in some of the basic low tier pvp rewards into Solo Shuffle and a unique R1 Title.

I really don’t understand why they’re so afraid at adding meaningful rewards to different brackets. Take Classic Wotlk they added Glad and the associated rewards to 2s not a single complaint but they refuse to fully commit to anything beyond 3s.

im just going off of what beta has implemented, currently someone already tested u get the deserter for leaving, but there is no rating loss or gain if someone leaves, you just all leave, and the leaver losses nothing.

as it stands right now, anyone pushing glad is going to use solo to get rating for their glad gear and then go over to 3’s and just wreck house until about 1800-2000

Give it a diff glad title. Solo gladiator. And give a recolor of the glad mount. Different but the same. Why does blizzard insist on not growing their game? Good lord.

thats currently not how gearing works in Dragonflight, pvp gear is always max ilvl in pvp, so u can cap anyway you like, but any rated pvp u do is gonna net u the same gear.

Penalty for leaving game should be more severe. The person that leaves needs to lose rating by ALOT!
