Raider IO - Remove it

To be clear are you saying you’re DPS #56 applying and didn’t get chosen?

Because that’s the life of a DPS.

You’re ilevel is a bit low, and you don’t really have much raiding experience. It might hinder people’s willingness to tkae you in over other tanks. You could raise your ilevel by getting some Assaults done, and maybe farming some bethnic gear. And you can try farming some LFR so you can confirm you know the fights. Hopefully that helps, keep at it and good luck :+1:

That’s not how it works, why would you join a 5 when you have +10 keys anyway?

You pug your own +10 keys, pug your next +9 or +11 keys, the score will then just fill in naturally (Also you don’t have to care about your own score when its your key), you sure you ever done this?

IO is both a good thing and a bad thing. But I don’t think blizzard can do anything really to break it without restricting a lot of data to be private. And I don’t see them doing that.

I just fear that because of its prominence, blizz is going to pull a Gearscore and adopt io into their game in some way or another.

No raider would attack raider io at all if that end of week chest did not exist. They would just leave the system alone and let the subgroup fester alone with each other as the happy band of overly choosy nit pickers that they are.

The Chest is a linchpin. The chest is bait to draw people into a system that already has a following. The system can survive without the bait and should.

That was my take, too. Eventually, after a 10, if it’s not completed in time, Dream will get a 9, and a good chance it’s a 9 of another dungeon. Push that to a 10, get more experience on Awakening, and keep bumping up (or dropping down) in the 9-11 range and still get some score from it.

Good practice too, and good way to meet new folks in LFG.

Gatekeeping? I can only take 3 dps per run, and I assure you that there are more than 3 dps at a given time looking to run keys.

This is the weirdest f-ing analogy that I have ever heard. WTF even made you think or say that?

Just do what I do.
And don’t do mythic+.

Ha… I remember doing +8 at 360.

Oh give me a break already… how is that even negative? :joy:

Oh hey, another one of these threads.

If it wasn’t Raider IO, people would find something else to not invite you over. Your times are already shown on your armory, so anyone who sees a time they don’t like, or no time at all, is probably going to shoot you down. It’s the same thing when it comes to people wanting to come along for heroic/mythic raid boss kills yet don’t have the achievements to prove that they’ve done the content.

The timed run leaderboards have been a thing since MoP and won’t be going anywhere. All IO does is quantify your times into a score and makes a profile to gauge how much success you’ve had that season.

Your best bet is really to just form your own group with your own key and push it to get to the level that you want. A higher score shows that you can run the content consistently within the time limit and that you’ve worked to raise your times and your overall score.

The irony is that I would bet that most people who complain about IO now will be using it frequently once they start running higher keys. Having gear is nice, but gear means nothing if the player with it is inexperienced, and when you’re PUGging people, experience and knowing what to do is always a solid perk.

Seriously, just ask friends to run with you. Spam General/Trade to get some takers. Maybe form a new guild for it!

Sometimes I don’t think people (especially DPS) really realize how many people are signing up for keys.

The guy who is 464 ilevel could have gotten carried in raids for all anyone knows. And experience in raiding doesn’t translate into being good in M+

There is also a decent amount catch up gear. 445 from regular mythics and emissary cache, and 460 from some weekly events and heroic darkshore. Throw in a max level cloak at 490+ and 457 gear looks very unimpressive.

The guy with a good history and low ilvl is always the better choice over the guy with high ilvl and no history.

The thing is, no one knows your DPS or skill level until the dungeon starts, and by then the key is wasted. Can YOU think of a better system to give some assurance we won’t waste a key to a pug?

If RIO got removed, what are all the people gunna do when they still get declined from groups?

Cause here’s the tea. 9 times out of 10, you’re not being declined because you’re not good enough. You’re being declined because someone better applied.

That still wouldn’t change, even if RIO was axed tomorrow.

Even with raiderio it’s difficult to tell whether or not the player actually earned the score or just paid for the carries. You can buy all your +15’s and get a 2k+ score. If I invite someone who has the proper rating for my key, I expect them to have the experience at that key level. You wont know if they’re boosted until the key has already started unfortunately.

There are plenty of guides and post how to get your score up. If you just came back 2 weeks ago you are not experienced in the dungeons or the current affixes, which means you are more of a liability to invite then the other 20 dps sitting in que. Raider IO is just a visual indicator of your experience which is showing that you have very little so it’s doing its job.

You want to get your score up, make your own groups or just work your way up from low keys. That is exactly what I am doing right now. I go to my raider io page look at my lowest scored key and push that one higher, then move onto the next lowest. Your first step should be timed completions on all dungeons, even one dungeon not done yet is a good chunk of missing points

I see this straw man argument a ton from the anti raider io crowd, as someone who runs a crap load of keys I very very rarely see these people. The amount of people that bought all if their 10s or 15s every season is low. I see the occasional person that has the io and is completely horrid but I would say I see that 1/20 times if that. I consider myself a decent ish player but I occasionally body pull, miss a interrupt, forget to change gear/talents and occasionally do a full duration stun in a pool of sanquin. Just because people make mistakes doesn’t mean they bought their keys
