Actually the raider io addon has many different metrics which you can use to determine someone’s experience; I usually go by number of 15s timed. If someone paid for 40 carries, sure they got me. But at that point why wouldn’t they just pay for more?
I’m saying that things can and always will change. Blizzard always has change of mind or heart base off how the community is.
Taking way fun just by adding more risk to pugs? Silly, but ok. Every change to wow is taking away someone fun, or something else.
Take away reforging? Fun
Take away titan forging? Fun
Take away armor pen? Fun
Take away Blood dps? Fun
Point is, wow will always keep changing and the stances Blizzard have now can and will change. I mean they are tying power into a faction grind. That alone shows they are willing to throw a monkey wrench into how we play.
I do agree some with this, but I do think we can change the current systems we have now to encourage building a social network back.
Bakkian, I don’t whether you intentionally being obtuse, have 0 experience actually puggin M+, or simply never paid attention. Getting into pug M+ groups at every level of keys is highly influenced by ilvl and io score.
So, if you have lower ilvl, you will have a harder time gettign into groups, so you will get intpo less and build your io more slowly … which now also gives ayou a lower io score … which only exacerbates your problems, which means you will compete at best lower keys … which means even your vault items will be lower … which puts you further behind in ilvl … which only exacerbates the problem further.
Non-raiders may as well not play SL if they have any desires to play any meaningful content.
For what it’s worth I agree with you OP. Raiderio has reduced people from human beings to mere numbers, and if you don’t have a score you’re worthless as a person. It’s pretty sad for the folks who just want to try to step up and get into dungeons but the community doesn’t care.
At least m+ is being gutted in SL though.
The problem is that the community is fostered in the way the system has been for years and the way you are describing exists in classic if people want it. It would cause them more harm than its worth to initiate this change on retail as well. It has a huge risk factor associated with it.
You’ve yet to point out how us pugging and using our addons hurts you and your guild socializng and social networks because it doesn’t, All you are trying to do is make peoples lives difficult for no reason so they fit into your idea of what an MMO should be.
Matter of fact guilds weren’t the first thing, Clans were and Clans came from games far older than MMO’s Guilds are just clans with extra steps.
You cant, because there literally is only 2 reasons to guild/have a large community/social circle in wow, RP and high-end mythic raiding content, Outside of that, there is literally zero reason to be social in the game. The only way to change that is full blown reverse of LFR and LFG which blizzard will never do.
You’re not being denied because you don’t have an addon installed. Your experience is tracked regardless of whether you install it or not. You’re being denied because you have no experience.
How do you get experience when you need experience to get experience? Dude we haven’t figured that one out for real problems, let alone video games. Make friends in game or get used to struggle.
Same way they did for years.
That’s how we all climbed up the IO ladder. Do you think we just hacked the IO servers and punched in our IO score? Why don’t you use that time to learn from your experience in the dungeons.
oh wait because you want to be handed a 15 key you didn’t earn.
I completed all my keys at 7 so that my io was high enough to get into 9’s and 10’s. Then I put all 12 dungeons to timed 10 minimum so my IO was high enough for a 12 etc etc.
Guess what I learned all the dungeons and I wasn’t handed a 15 key for free like you kids so desperately want.
@Op, here is a simple rule of thumb for pugging keys via LFG .
Consider all groups in LFG as “farm” groups unless they explicitly state they are learning group.
This should put you in the mindset that you need experience running content before asking a stranger to invite you to their group … and for the record, a stranger has every right to invite anyone they want to THEIR group, just like you have every right invite anyone you want to your group. Stop telling people how they should play.
If you need assistance learning dungeons, then join a guild. There are so many out there just looking for people.
The numbers represent player experience. So in a way, by looking at a players IO score, they are opting to bring the player with the most experience.
Classic is that way ----------------->
My raiderio score which is 2768 was solely from pugging.
The way to counteract this is make your own group, push keys and boom you now have good raiderio. It won’t be handed to you because people like to see consistency so you can’t just do one +10 and expect to get into all of the other ones easily. I recently got my shaman a two chested WM +15. I was unable to get into any other +15s. I then did a run with a guildy, timed it and this week since it says I have 2 +15s timed on him it was a lot easier to get into one.
So make your own. The tradeoff to pugging instead of your own keys is that you need to be overqualified in peoples eyes. Its not a problem with the system just a way the playerbase thinks.
This is hyperbole.
Annastasi - yeah, I only ran M+ in BFA - I have two 2200+ tons and have run up to 20’s pugging. But that was in the current system, where I was only mildly underpowered compared to raiders. SL creates a huge that will make it incredibly painful for no raiders to progress because of the negative synergy that arises between lower ilvls, the difficulty of getting into groups, and the negative impact that has ion building io scores.
Going to dispute that… we have a guild because we like each other and do heroic raiding… so please don’t make generalizations. Honestly I don’t think LFD or LFR did either of the things you blame on them per se. Those issues were much deeper and I can honestly trace them back and indeed this issue back to the infamous “Dungeons are Hard” blog post by Ghostcrawler. Although they were definitely present even in vanilla.
Nah don’t do it this way. Just push your own key. That way, you don’t feel bad if it depletes, and if you’re as MLGPRO as you think you are you should be doing 15s in no time.
I have? I said it hurts the overall community and how people act?
The rules we play reflect on how we play the game, how we treat each other, or even what fosters in the game.
You are playing a victim here or trying to stand on a moral high ground for someone suggestion the rules change in a video game, that you might not like. Ok? It might be less fun for you. Ok? but don’t deflect what I said.
Needing to build a social network, it would mean that how you acted in said pug group, if the pug group was good. You would want to chill out and not be a total tool in it because you might want to play with these people again since they get the job done. So you add them to friends and whisper them when you want to make a group.
Now? People can just be total tools even if the group is good because the addon help them find another one with no risk.
Im not saying you cant, im saying there is no need to do that everything you listed is 100% possible very easily with out a social circle/guild.
“First, I need to make it clear that I’m not one of those casuals.”
I love posts that start with a disclaimer.
