I’m a casual player these days but that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to play the game. I come from a time when I raided hardcore back in the day and even had some server firsts.
Currently I have an iLevel of 466 and know extensively how to play my class but apparently that doesn’t matter anymore. Since I don’t have some silly addon installed I’m getting denied to almost all Mythic+ and raid pugs in LFG because of this and apparently this makes me less of a player. Reminds me of back in the day when GearScore was a thing which basically did the same thing.
Can we please go back to bringing the ‘player’ when forming groups instead of bringing the numbers? I’ll probably out DPS the guy with 5-10 ilevels above me, actually interrupt stuff anyways.

How are random strangers supposed to bring a player that they know nothing about?
Basically it sounds like you want to join a guild and run content with people you know/know you.

You don’t have to have any addon.
It’s a website that shows all your stats.
People just use the addon to pull the info into the game.
You’re probably being denied for the dungeons you’ve done… or haven’t done.

Sounds like it’s working exactly as intended. Just because you have a 466 Ilvl doesn’t mean you know the mechanics of the dungeons. If you want to pug you have to deal with Raider iO. If you don’t want to deal with then form your own group or join guild runs.

Well Mythic plus is going the way of the Dodo in SL so, wont need to worry bout that anymore.

For those with addons it used to show all your alts too so they can see how knowledgeable you are and if you ran m+ with any success in your alts.

My point was that people had to take those chances and bring you and that’s how you made new friends and learned about players. That’s also the whole point of pugging groups so you don’t have to deal with that crap. If I wanted to be in a guild to form organized stuff I would be.
I’m perfectly capable of doing a +11 or +12 Waycrest Manor run but since Raider IO probably says my highest is 10 they are like screw this guy…DECLINE. LOL

I’ve never heard of anybody not liking RIO, is this a new issue?

Raider IO does NOT tell you this.
It only tells someone if you’ve completed content or not, and how well your group did.
You could sit at the entrance while the other 4 people run the dungeon and know ZIP about the dungeon.
Raider IO does NOT impart your KNOWLEDGE.

Can’t be declined from your own key.

pug will acept only the 1 who can carry them , bc u no they are aplying bc they need raider io to get in the aksual runs they want 2 do
Fine it tells how many times you and your alt 3 2, 1 no chest or how much longer you too in each dungeon when you went over.
Not really. There has always been a system even before competitive dungeons and group finder.
That is also the whole point of things like raider IO so they don’t have to take risks on unknow people and “deal with that crap”.
And how do you know that?
Actually it is the WoW armory that says that and Raider IO just brings that info from the armory into the game.

If all the people who complained about not getting groups formed their own guild, they’d be Mythic raiders by now.

Except its not, Raider IO has always been a part of this game, just under a different mask.
Before raider IO, it was your Mythic +
before that it was ilvl
before that it was your achievements
before that it was your gear score(Lord help you if you had the mod activated in ICC)
before that it was the title you had (Them BC titles for finishing tier raids)
Before that it did you have an item from the raid to prove you did it.
Before that it was the guild you were in
before that it was do you have a vent
Point in there will ALWAYS be a way to arbitrarily gauge a players skill based upon a quantifiable value. Raider IO is just the newest one out there, if you remove it, players will find a way to rate you as a player before ever grouping with you, this is not new, it was never new. Raider IO did not magically make this spring outta the ground.

It is just another wall for players to grind.
I do think it makes Pugs too good, and having more risk to the pug settings forces players to be more social. But the forums HATE me for even suggesting that Group Finder needs more risks.
This addon pretty much limits the risks making pug groups for hard content.
Before it? We would add people to friends, or even just try and get people join our guilds. Now? We don’t need to do that because the addon will help us find people who has a good score so knows what to do.
It is sad really.

Umm, no.
That’s the whole point of joining a guild and running with people you know, so you don’t have to deal with that crap.
PuGs are where you’re MORE likely going to have to “deal with that crap”.

they no doubt checked your armory and saw a distinct lack of correct corruptions and essances and azerite traits. and at this point in the xpac people are gearing alts and your just getting to a decent point of your main. people want fast runs now, their gonna try to take that 470 dh over you my poor dk friend

The world is competitive. So if I am posting up a King’s Rest M13 as a tank and am evaluating dps people, I will try to take those who have good KR experience - those who know and have dealt with the mechanics of that dungeon and have timed KR11s/KR12s…
So your ilevel is only there as a basic measure, but your experience is what really matters. IO tells me this by hovering over you IN the queue. Pretty awesome.
This is what IO does, this is why you should learn to use it if you want to do M+ at any higher level than you do now.
The real issue here is: there is simply no ability to explain or teach people in a M+ run; if you want to time it, everyone already has to know what to do - period. The only way for me to know if you know it is… IO
And it works both ways, I struggled to get invites on my resto shaman for M15s, even though I have them all timed at 14… because there were rdruids lurking about … so you get that too.
