Raid vs Mythic+ loot tables

No raiders have to PVP for their gear, no M+ players need to PVP for their gear, no battle pet players have to PVP for the best pets.

Why should PVPers have to do any of that for their corner of the game? Especially when they didn’t have to before, when things were just dandy and not a broken mess?

There’s wanting us to experience the full game, and then there’s forcing competitive players waste time on unrelated content to stand a chance in a competitive field through the use of trinkets that were not balanced around that aspect of the game.

And this is where I think people need to change their mindsets. You “feel” forced to do it. You are not “being” forced to do it. So either learn to accept the fact that people who spend more time in different content may have a slight advantage on you, or pull up your britches and go do the content yourself.

I still don’t understand why or who asked for this? Removing “junk” loot makes sense (i.e giving a ilvl460 an ilvl370 item - replace it with currency after a cut off) but legion/bfa have been great for having loot available overall (I have around 17 level 120s).

How do you offset a player going through a raid and loot being trash because it drops for slots they already have gear for or is heavily weighted for stats you haven’t balanced correctly for there spec (e.g DH mastery)? Is master looter returning for SL?

Will there be smarter loot drops weighted to slots that need upgrading? Otherwise how do you achieve this? (the corruption system made loot feel more rewarding than it has at any point in wows history, making different gear sets with the different corruptions made loot great again).

They are bringing back raid tier sets, M+ is worthless for those slots now because tier sets are mandatory (classes are balanced around having them each tier). Think back, it didn’t matter if you completed the set mix/matching LFR/Norm/Heroic… you could not break that set. Either that or the set bonuses are trash and then its a case of why even bring them back if they are going to be bad?

What about my alts I used to bonus roll on world bosses… was I enjoying wow wrong doing this?

Depending on how you balance tier sets (or if M+/PVP get there own tier sets) you are bringing back raidordie from WOD. Not sure if this has been discussed internally.

“Slight advantage” is not what I’m referring to. I’m referring to being at a MASSIVE DISADVANTAGE just because you don’t PvE. This has been the case for both Legion and BFA. The trend continuing into SL will only continue to hurt the PvP population.

Just 1 or 2 comments ago he literally explained how his BiS azerite piece was from PvP, so you’re wrong. A great example is Blood of the Enemy in BFA, that required PvP and was BiS essence in PvE for raids and m+ for multiple specs.

I feel you here. Here’s to hoping the PvP trinket set bonus is enough to at least make the difference between PvP and PvE trinkets close enough that it isn’t a big deal.

Your gear isn’t the only thing that is a “loadout” lmao.

Talents.
Essences.
Honor talents.

Game is full of loadouts my dude.

i think considering bonus rolls to give you “more loot” is a very narrow and misguided view of their purpose.
they probly only give you more loot, for 2-3 weeks out of the 6month teir, for other 5months they are for targeting the only set of gloves for your armor type in teir w/ crit or whatever.
if we could use a menu on the great vault to pick the raid boss ,or m+zone that will roll in that slot ,it could at least simulate the same effect

These work fine in Mythic+ and Raids and are not different in Mythic+ and raids. They are not loadouts.

At the end of the day, PvE is PvE, we don’t need to turn the game into Content modes like Mythic+ being a completely distinct path from Raiding and vice versa.

Dude they are loadouts. You set them in a rest area and then go do your content.

That’s not what we’re discussing though. If you had a set of Mythic+ talents and a set of Raid talents, you’d have a point. PvE is PvE.

So because you don’t change your talents for anything PVE related means no one else does.

Lol, my dude, there are people that change talents based on which boss they are fighting in the current raid. There are people that change their talents depending on the dungeon they are doing a keystone for.

No need to be so ignorant, to be honest.

Not everyone just goes “set it and forget it” like you do.

Can the Great Vault award loot from Stone Legion Generals and Sire Denathrius? Those bosses are intended to drop higher-ilvl pieces than the rest of the raid, at 233 instead of 226. Do the other gearing avenues have a chance of giving 233-ilvl loot if this is indeed the case (unlikely as that may be)?

There’s some precedence for stuff like that happening in other situations. The Normal and Heroic boxes from some weekly events currently have a chance to drop Carapace/N’zoth gear that has a higher ilvl than typical Ny’alotha gear, and apparently it was entirely possible to loot Mythic Archimonde loot from the Shipyard boxes although I’ve personally never seen this happen to myself or any players I’ve raided with.

I’m not wrong, though - that case is an outlier in an otherwise consistent ruling. If we want to talk about the various ways Azerite and essences were poorly handled, I’m all for that - but don’t act like this one-off was indicative of anything, especially since it seems like SL won’t be making that mistake again.

Considering how Ion has a strong aversion to going back to a working model when he could push his own terrible ideas, I doubt it will.

No, again, the person I was replying to wanted Set bonuses for Mythic+ that drop in Mythic+ and only work in Mythic+.

That’s what we were discussing. It’s almost as if you’re trying to derail this.

There are a couple of reason why you might not get an upgrade for weeks raiding mythic.

A lot of raids have bosses that act like a roadblock, they are usually in the middle of the raid and they are mechanically harder than bosses farther ahead in the raid(sans the last boss) and you get stuck for some weeks with no new boss kill so no upgrades.

Or you get unlucky, mass trading doesn’t occur until later in the tier, you have to “win” 2 times to get an item you want from a boss. You might get loot, but it could not be the one you need.

Oh just one more step… I so was waiting for master loot. On the whole this looks positive. Guess we will have to see how it plays out.

Are non-raiders and non-mythic +ers able to get anything out of the Great Vault, or are we SOL again?

I don’t understand why you guys won’t just do the WoD design of scalable pieces when activated in a PvP setting.
