You seem upset. Nothing you’ve said in any of your responses is accurate lol.
TBC classic had double or triple the chars on the ladder (varies by bracket/season) according to ironforge.pro
i do agree with your points though especially 3.
Rating reqs on items that drop in VoA was a thought-provoking design principle
Scroll up. Its literally what every single post is saying. Its not fair i dont have gear. Theyre 1600ish, only 3 items behind everyone else.
because you could get good pve loot
ppl did 10 games just to get pts
Hilarious people think “Learn & improve” is ego. Telling people they should research instead of blame gear. Wow what a shocker.
Egoing out and delusional about it. Sad.
Quick, unrelated question: when a soccer team wins a match, do they get to use a smaller goal against the next team? Steel-toed cleats? Anything of that nature?
No, they’re not.
And you didn’t respond to this
Why would someone who isn’t having fun want to try and get better when they could do literally anything else?
Getting gear is fun.
Having fun means you keep going. Keeping going means you start to learn. Then you start to learn and bam there’s your whole argument.
But you have to get the new player to want to learn which is my whole argument.
They’re not mutually exclusive.
You have to look at this from the perspective of someone who isn’t already invested in PvP and Arena.
If you don’t have fun pvping getting the last couple items out of your rating range wont change that.
If getting gear is the fun part then work towards that goal? If it’s handed to you for free whats the achievement or fun to be had? Its not tied to gear, its the process of attaining the gear and improving yourself that the accomplishment/fun is derived from. Not right clicking a vendor.
You look at this entirely wrong. In Cata when all this rating requirement stuff is gone then what will be the excuse? Spending currency on an item isn’t the fun pvp has to offer lol you’re whole pov is warped. Don’t blame the unimportant last pvp items being unattainable on the lack of arena participation. It’s childish & wrong.
The participation rates in TBCC and LKClassic really drive home the argument that Blizzard focusing on Arenas as the “end game” of PVP was a colossal mistake.
Yeah locking gear behind rating is troll af. I also think a large problem was increasing the ilvl on Ulduar gear (which I am fine with) but leaving Furious gear at 238 discouraged a lot of players from actually pvping as well.
A lot of people would have probably filled out some main slot pieces with arena gear had there not been rating locks behind them. Also Weapons being a large focus for almost all classes being locked behind 1800 for someone who may be new to the game or just on an alt trying to get their toon caught up to ilvl.
The way the community of wow and classic in general has drastically changed how we play the game and I hope we see rating removed from gear in S8 entirely aside from the 2200 weapons
You also learn wrong when there are gear inequities at play. Arena is a dance and the timings are crucial. If you are a disc priest trying to learn the game you will learn the game wrong when you have to work with crappy gear. You’ll have to use your trinket when you should have held it. you’ll have to blow PS when your throughput should have been enough. You’ll have to spend more globals healing and therefore have fewer to be offensive. And it all compounds and snowballs.
Even tiny differences in gear (and what exists in Wrath is not at all tiny) have massive implications on how a match actually unfolds. And it’s not like training your swing with weights on your bat; it’s like trying to learn a dance to the wrong song.
Except it is. Lots of people had way more fun in arenas in TBC when only weapons and shoulders were restricted.
It would solve the participation issue, but Cata as a whole is going to be dead so it’s a moot point.
As someone who doesn’t have issues with getting gear your opinions of what is and isn’t fun to new players are completely irrelevant. You aren’t a new arena player so your whole POV is warped.
No its not, you’re a zoomer, back to retail you go.
Season 7 participation is up on NA and EU, NO ONE HAD A PROBLEM WITH RAID GEAR IN 2009 WHEN PVP WAS META WITH RECKFUL AND EVERYONE. It was PRIME PVP in wow
stop with the low iq takes and false information. What Killed NA was X mlg players using auto scripts and destroying the ladder with selling boosts and farming low rated teams and killing newer players for even wanting to play because blizzard wont ban a streamer starting with S that is an x mlg player cheating since TBC.
That’s the problem with NA arena is the Twitch crap and Blizzards lil pr gang that cheat because they know nothing will happen.
Bro if you can’t get raid gear on classic wow a MMO than kick rocks to a game where it’s just pure pvp like LEAGUE OF LEGENDS so annoying to hear this crap. Blizzard even made it EASY FOR YOU TO GET GEAR with all these retail vendors and ALPHA BETA + HEROICS…
I think your the wrong demographics for this game.
S7 is “up” compared to what? s6?
Very longwinded op but i think the gameplay was the most deterring factor, wrath arena just isnt that fun
Turn off the stove lil bro you’re not allowed to cook anymore
legit go play retail if your all 20 year old zoomers are complaining ABOUT A FREAKING MMO CLASSIC VERSION WITH GEAR PROGRESSION THIS IS NOT A PVP GAME ITS A MMO WITH PVE AND PVP IN THE GAME…PLAY ANY GAME BUT A MMO FOR PURE PVP INSTANT PVP WITH NO PROGRESSION OTHER THAN RANKING.
my god you guys are the most cringe people on earth with these poor takes.
Legit why on earth would you pick a old version of world of warcraft to only pvp in it and complain about having to play the game…go play Fortntie
As ive said i play with a ton of friends at your rating and help them improve just like you’re supposed to. My pov is from a better position even BECAUSE Im not new and understand both positions because ive been in both and currently play with people in both new and experienced levels.
Exactly…
Awesome they have a very experienced friend to play with and teach them, so they’re not even close to the same as the average new player.
The average new player doesn’t have a you to help them out.
Just asking what you mean
For 3s, TBC seasons almost had more rank 1 “teams” (so 3 chars) than there are R1 chars in 3s now
S6 had 27 chars R1 in 3s, it’s a 30% decrease in chars on the ladder since every TBC season
EU is a similar story but slightly less die-off with only a 23% decrease in the ladder size
