Congratulations. It’s post-post-post nerf Ragnaros. He could be pugged by half a raid of lv58 keyboard turners.
He’s not gonna be nerfed. They’ve already stated that player power will be equal to how it was in vanilla, if anything he’ll be buffed to compete with the 1.12 change.
No lvl 58s will down him. He will no be downed for 4-5 months after launch
The Classic week, like all WoW weeks, will start on a Tuesday…
Tuesday should officially be changed to the beginning of the week worldwide someone should start a petition please its the only answer
Well then you are a bad player…
I was a warrior who had less than 50FR and was alive for my guilds 2nd RAG kill. In mostly quest greens too, because they needed an extra body.
FR is not needed except for maybe the MT.
You need to be honored not revered to summon majordomo. Honored gets you a 1 time use version, revered gets you the reuseable one.
You must have had great healers. I’ve never been a fan of being a drain on my healers. THEN I would have been a bad hunter…
How was I supposed to reduce the AOE damage of rag again? Oh yeah, FR gear. Taking damage that hits everyone doesn’t make someone a bad player.
Of course my guild was done with MC even on our alts well before 1.12. Maybe they nerfed the AOE at some point? I’d have no way of knowing. Early on it hit everyone in the room.
We killed Rag well before 1.12, pretty sure it was somewhere close to AQ release.
before the raid they knew my FR and so the healers were specifically told to not give me extra heals so I was extra DPS till I died, druids kept hots on me and I was fine.
There is no raid wide AoE attack that does fire damage…
There are lava splashes which are most common near the lava.
If you are ranged and are taking lots of Fire damage move farther away from the lava…
Oh and Rag was nerfed in 1.5, before that the Fire Splashes were not resistible so wearing FR gear for non tanks was near worthless.
I can see maybe a few guilds getting all the way to end game in a week and possibly killing Ragnaros. This being said I doubt it will be anyone here and that most players won’t get a kill until two or three weeks at the earliest. I wouldn’t mind keeping an eye on twitch to see if anyone gets a kill though.
Hmmm I seem to recall a wide attack. My guild required everyone at range to be in 120 FR. Of course, nobody except the MT wore FR after in tier gear. You generally get a nice resistance amount and a much larger health pull. Was it the spawns?
Now you’ve made me question my own memory lol. We did have to have FR though.
It’s also obvious from your statement that you were late to the game. Obviously your guild outgeared the rag encounter or had him well on clear. When all 40 members are new to him on progression, I’m certain you needed FR. We weren’t wearing it for fun because we felt like gimping our dps.
Edit: oh here…
* The whole raid needs to know where the exits from the lava are, because everybody has a good chance to take an involuntary lava bath.
- Your MT should have at least 300 (315 is recommended with buffs) fire resistance.
- No member should exceed 315 resistance buffed as it is the maximum effective level of resistance.
This is a DPS fight, you will need as much DPS gear as you can wear while maintaining a healthy, but not excessive level of resistance. - Any melee classes should have at least 200.
- Any other class should have at the very least 100 (unbuffed), or they won’t be around very long. In each case, more fire resistance is better.
- Everyone in the raid should use anywhere from 1-3 fire protection potions during the fight to stay alive. Preferred a few seconds before the sons of flame spawn.
It was my guilds second Rag kill, I was 60 and on the bench the week before for the first kill.
I started the game 1 year after release, The guild didnt outgear it like crazy. We still had sons phase which might have a lot of FR needed, but there is a knockback that hits random range players, a knockback that hits every so often in melee but melee can dodge it if they have timers.
and there are random lava splashes.
Tier 1 is actually bad for most classes…
This is the problem in Vanilla proper theorycrafting was very rare. People saw Fire Damage and so they wanted to wear FR.
The problem is that you lose A LOT of dps from properly stated gear to wear FR, and if you have a lot of DPS you kill the fight faster and possibly skip the Sons phase which is the only “hard” part of the fight.
Oh my guild wanted people to have FR and I was building a set but I had not been very lucky.
Fire Protection pots and Fire resist Totem/Aura + Mark of the wild should be plenty of FR.
Edited my post. Yeah there was sons, then the potential for lava bath. Long range like a hunter the knock back could knock you forward. I always stood as far as I could shoot from near the ledge wall, because… hunter=far as you can get…
Yeah it was a PITA. I luckily just kept everything I found leveling and had a surplus lol
Some levellers will be caught out, but most of us have already adjusted for Classic as much as possible.
I mean most people in vanilla were killing Rag in bad gear because most people didn’t realize how to itemize properly.
You really don’t need all that many if any consumables for MC and if you are popping flasks for early MC content that seems a bit of a waste, if you cant kill the first couple bosses without consumables you prob shouldn’t be killing the last bosses.
Rep is a non issue, getting enough people to honored is not hard.
Biggest issue I see is that the top 2 dps are Warriors and Rogues who are the slowest leveler and the 3rd slowest leveler.
you also will def need at least 4 pallies if not more for auras who are the 2nd slowest levelers.
I can def see a decent number of people hitting 60 before the end of the first week, But I do think you will need at least 2+ days to get out of leveling greens into decently itemized gear. Getting enough warriors/rogues/pallies to 60 in 5 days or less is gonna be really tough.
While I think its more likely for Rag to die in the First week than after the 4th, I still think a full MC clear in week 1 is pushing the limits of reality.
If I was placing odds for Rag kill by week I would put it as follows
Week 1: 5%
Week 2: 65%
Week 3: 20%
Week 4: 9%
Week 5+: 1%
I don’t see Rag dying within 1 week, within 1 month is possible.
I can see those guilds that are setting up to rush rags will at least minimally try to kill Lucifron on the first week to get that extra hunter tranq shot book. Having 2 hunters tranq shots on the 2nd week will at least be able to handle most tranq shot mechanics in MC (no backup if the shot miss though).
Don’t see it happening. Towards the end of the 2nd week maybe, i just dont think getting that many people to max and some amount of gear is going to go well enough for it to happen the first week.
OP, There will be no achievements in classic WOW. SO there will be no world first etc.
There were still world first kills. Doesn’t matter though. Anyone trying for world first are about 14+ years too late. Everything you do in Classic has been done. World first Naxx? Nihilum…
People in here thinking you need pre-raid BiS and consumables to do MC lmao.
it took Joana almost 5 days played, so unless they account share they will not get to max level in 1 week.
also no one has beat their record yet, as P-swervers have been proven to give up to 50% increased EXP, there is a popular "world record
that if you look at some of the tanaris quests compared to Joana’s old vid, its 50% more.
no, even speed levelers will not be able to go a whole week of 3 hours of sleep, specially since you also need 40+ people to ALL do this.
also these records like Joana’s have little competition, which a launch will have TONS.
also Boes’ which we will not have
so no, there may be some max levels in the first week, but it will be on the very last day, and likely with the help of a friend or family member in the same house hold.
