Cant even make it past 20 with How slow the combat is lmao, game is pretty much made for social Spergs that dont wanna actually play difficulty content
FF14 has way more casual appeal. I quit FF14 to come here just before SL, but I came here to be raid more. I had to resort to joining a sales group and doing a bunch of meme runs for fflogs just to give myself a reason to play the content I wanted to in FF14. I’m probably in a small minority of players who would prefer WoW over FF14 though. It seems like you go to WoW if you want competitive content and go to FF14 if you want literally anything else.
In my case, I didn’t care about gathering or crafting, both of which are far more involved in FF14. I didn’t care about the relic grinds unless it was BiS, and even then I hated doing it. I didn’t care about the housing even though I had a personal large, I even just bought it then paid a friend 100 mil to decorate it for me after I left it in its default state for nearly a month.
But all those things I didn’t care about are huge draws for the game. Involved crafting is casual easy stuff that anyone can do. You can chill in chat while doing it and it even has its own gear progression you can either dump a ton of money into or work on over time. Relics can be completed by casual players no problem and give them a reward to work for when they’re not completing Savage raids. Housing is just a massive cosmetic money sink, and though you have to be really lucky to get one on the populated servers, the dedication some people have to decoration is astounding. It’s even fun to just walk around the housing district and peek in random houses.
I don’t think you have much room to riff on the game if you can’t even get past level 20 due to some inability or unwillingness to adapt.
Gotcha…
The game apparently is so successful, the director got promoted and now has his own business division and his own numbered FF title (FF16).
there’s a reason why FF14 appeals to mostly JP players in the first place while in woW we have Sweaty Koreans and Chinese competing for WL.
How are we second class?
Please elaborate, I wish to hear how so.
As long as that leveling/questing experience stays the way it is, there probably isn’t much need to be concerned about the FF14 defenders/recruiters, to be blunt.
Just went to the ff14 general discussion forums, scrolled through about 5 pages, and it is like a freaky deaky mirror.
No wow threads that I could see, but plenty of cosmetic feature complaints/requests (imagine if this forum had waayyyyy more skinny kultiran and blood elf druid threads)
Huh. Grass, green, fence.
So because a game is slightly slower paced it’s easier?
WoW’s become a joke to play too in the last 3 expansions.
Well yea if you’re level 20, you haven’t even unlocked a job at that point.
JP servers have far higher clear rates for Ultimate and Savage fights though. Also, I didn’t do the most recent tier in FF14, but the last fight of the previous tier was far more difficult than HC Sire imo. The problem is that there’s very little raid content per tier and it’s been put in line behind casual content with the next Ultimate fight being delayed until 6.1.
What do you mean second class? I only encountered english USA players on…you know…english servers. Seems your just making stuff up to hate on FFXIV now.
I can’t get past level 10 in FF14.
There’s SO MANY sidequests (yes, I was already laughed at for doing sidequests by friends) and the combat is so damn boring.
I promise you, it does get better as the game goes on.
Sadly the beginning of FF14 is a bit of a slog, so I can see that as a turn off for many people and I don’t blame them.
I mean, I started as… I can’t remember the name, the dps caster.
One of my DoTs does less damage over its entire duration than my main nuke I have, and my main nuke casts faster and costs less mana.
Like ???
Yep.
I made it to 20, but damn … definitely not for me, lol.
I had to take a break around the Lv. 30~ bracket of leveling (before the ARR improvements), its really unfortunate the base-game takes so long because the second you step foot in Heavensward its like a completely different game.
FF14 ain’t bad.
Except for the length of the main story and the number of stunties and cat people are disconcerting.
Plus the heavy Alliance like themes that makes my blood boil.
I’m going to assume since you’re not mentioning a pet that you went with Thamaturgist, which upgrades to Black Mage later.
You get lil trait upgrades further on that allow you to fire off the dot (Thunder) instantly and it does a fair amount of damage too. The proc also applies for the AOE version of it.
Actually it the cut scenes, too much cut scenes on the main quest ruined the whole thing.
But honestly FFxiv story is still way better than wow.
