Quick solution to blue eye thing

Seems to be the easiest solution. Non-void skin and hair options and a little range in eye color would satisfy a LOT of players who just want to be able to RP in town as a high elf on the alliance side.
More options is always a good thing, after all.

you Void Elves can have some tentacles. accept who you are

Because then they look too samey. Ion already said the reason he’s not giving alliance High Elves is that they look too much like Horde BE. He’s afraid people won’t notice everything else in red denoting they’re an enemy. The current lead designers/devs dont’ give one crap about Alliance. They’re really just keeping Alliance players separate so they can keep giving the Horde all the cool stuff and laugh in their faces.

I want to preface:

Do we both agree that the likelihood is basically nil? Yes.

That said:

I think the ignorance lies in the response. People don’t want High Elves (Alliance) because they think it’ll fix the faction imbalance (though they might think it will regardless). People don’t want them because they want a copy-pasta.

The players who genuinely want High Elves are a group of players who want something that the lore says they’ve had. They want the High Elves that never abandoned the Alliance. They want the High Elves that mediated their addiction with baubles and not siphons. They want the High Elves that have stuck with the Alliance since the beginning, more or less.

The problem is that saying no is OK. We’re going to keep asking, and you can’t stop us, but you’re allowed to say no. You’re just going to have to deal with the fact that we still want it even after you said no. Saying no doesn’t mean we don’t want it. Saying we want it doesn’t mean you’re going to do it.

Giving us Void Elves as a compromise was, in my opinion, worse than doing nothing. Not only are they one of the farthest things from what we wanted, but they represent a story that’s so far from what we wanted that it’s worse than being given Blood Elves wholesale.

High Elves or bust. I’ll accept bust before I accept compromise. Void Elves are Blood Elves before they’re High Elves, politically.

This has nothing to do with my desire to fix the faction balance. It has nothing to do with whether the Horde would want to play High Elves, or whether the Alliance would stop bleeding.

It’s a historic race of the Alliance that never left, and should be available. Faction identity is a farce. Factions are defined by their views and goals, not by the visual appearance of the races therein.

Nah I despise that mindset too. My comment was sarcasm and my loathing about double standard of some players. Lore doesn’t matter when it comes to the black Belf (although I understand why Blizz did it from ‘reality’ perspective) and Lore matters so much when it comes to Alliance having Helves.

Alleria is a Ren’dorei. She can control the void to make her not look completely purple.

“Yes but that’s HER and not the other Velfs.”

Grass is green.

We know that but her being different is a logical assumption that other Velfs can’t do that. This is the problem.

There is no restriction on Velfs to turn into “Alleria Velfs”. There is no lore blocking that possibility. There isn’t a snippet to suggest otherwise.

So as you say…

So Velfs can’t be “Alleria Velfs” in the sense that she can have a lighter tone because of her abilites, without any evidence?

“The Evidence is that She’s not them.”

That’s not evidence. That’s an assumption.

“Velfs can’t be like Alleria.”

Alleria is a Ren’dorei. Velfs are Ren’dorei. It seems if Blizzard gave Velfs the option to have lighter “natural” skin tons, there isn’t anything in the lore that restricts that.

Nobody knows what it’s like…

To be the bad elf

To be the sad elf

…Behind blue eyes.

Or, embrace that pale and purple void elf aesthetic.

Tolkien elves are boring, tell them to go back to lotr.

I can’t go full turalyon glowing human goodness, they’re hero units, we aren’t.

Next.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Void Elves get skin/eye options that are close to High Elves.

This would be the best option.

all your doing is proving its not about the lore but aesthetics. not that everyone doesnt already know

Yeah I already made another thread that I’m good without Helves.
I care more about the lore, and if lorewise they’re Horde, I’m fine.
But some say Hevles also belong to the Alliance, and… you know, this is the kind of debate that never ends.

I’m just disappointed that Blizz made this kind of situation happen. (I should’ve mentioned this in OP) Cosmetic option should never be one of the big issues in SL. I mean, if there are many people who don’t like it.
Now Blizz just can’t remove blue eye option because it will hurt Horde players, and can’t add skin ton color to Velves because cosmetic options are limited to the core races.
Well it’s their problem now. :unamused:

Blizzard should kill off silver covenant in shadowlands and end this insanity once and for all.

Never gonna happen.

Nor should it.

I don’t think that will end the insanity, in fact, I believe it’ll get worse.

What Blizzard should have done was used the Silver Covenant as the source of the Void Elves rather than a random pack of Silvermoon exiles.

The debate will never end because allied races are a thing, and there have been High Elf NPCs on the Alliance, who have been there from the beginning, and have been the face of the Alliance on multiple fronts in multiple expansions. It certainly didn’t help that shortly after Ion said his whole “Well Blood Elves ARE High Elves”, thing they added the Arathi warfront … where all of the Alliance NPCs on the airship were High Elves. And the Boralus portal master was a High Elf.

It will never end because Blizz just keeps on trolling.

Genocide high elves more than night elves, problem solved.

There doesn’t need to be a ‘solution’ to crybabies who are whining because Blood Elves are getting an eye color that was due.

Its literally a win win for everyone except spiteful Horde players who know this will help the faction imbalance
