Never had numbers in Vanilla.
People blow the most minor of choices way out of proportion (we’re all guilty of it). The fact is, your play experience is probably going to be virtually identical regardless of which server you end up on.

They literally outlined their process path months ago. They’re starting with a lean realm list and expanding it as needed.
Why would they though? They are not charging us extra for classic nor do we need to pay $60 up front to play it. They are going to put the absolute minimum work required to get this game up and running as now our $15 a month is paying for two separate games on separate hardware. Also there is no blizzard store in classic to bring in extra money that all game company’s want to squeeze from us.
Except blizzard is not our boss and we are not getting paid to fix the problems, they are
Fail bait and complaint thread 0/10
Meh, it’s more likely Blizz is playing the long game, expecting there to be a large drop off of players and they are trying to avoid future low pop servers.
Said wisdom can be used in all aspects of life my friend. It’s one thing to be constructive, another to just complain endlessly. Surely you got my point?
Not even sure what this thread is complaining about… Queue times in general or when making names? It’s an online game, and if the game is popular there will be queues… it’s no one’s fault, just how it is.
It’s like the OP has never been in line before in his/her life. Do you also demand to get your food instantly at In&Out and Chick-fil-a at lunch hour? you can argue chick-fil-a knows there will be a long line at noon, so they should build much larger restaurants so the customers will have no wait between 12-1 everyday. Or ever been in traffic during rush hour? Why not just build 4 additional highways, we know there will be traffic during rush hour.
Geez… Blizzard is selling you a service, if you don’t want it, don’t buy it. They need to make money and have a good return on investment, because otherwise, why would they do it? So… they can’t go around purchasing additional hardware that will only be useful for a short window in time.
And if this thread is because you didn’t get the name you want… then someone got it, another paying customer. Even if there were no queue problems, people still won’t get all the names they want because the names themselves are the limiting resource. It’s like people think without queues all their problems will be solved and they would have gotten the name they wanted… If you got the name you wanted, then that means someone else didn’t… How are you different from that someone else?
Muh entitled I hate this we are customers. We are entitled to a quality product. Do you think at my business I would want to offer subpar crap to my customers? Where is pride.
Seems to be going ok. If it ends up being that servers are inaccessible for extended periods at launch, then I’d agree. But a 30 minute queue would seem acceptable.
But man, the game hasn’t even launched.
I know if you go to Disneyland and have to stand in line for a ride that is kinda sucky, but that is how things work. Come back to reality.
I don’t mean to keep nit picking your arguments (not personal I swear) and I agree with most of what you say… but it’s not just as easy as move your toons. Part of the issue is (1) will my names be available there later when I have time to log onto my computer (at work now) (2) for me to even find out I have to delete my current name reserves and risk losing them in the process (3) will my friends/guild all be willing to move and how successful will they be with my first two points as well. All of this would have been avoided with an extra server or two available on Monday. My gripe, and maybe unreasonable, is I feel as though they could have been a bit more responsive and added the server that night as all three choices were “high” in the first hour of being open. When I finally was able to stay logged in I went into an 11k queue just to reserve. This is where I feel blizzard could have been a quiet observer - watching the ebbs and flows of where the reserves were going - and opened a 4th server. If I’d of seen a 4th (albeit unannounced) server I probably would have opted for it instead of powering through the 11k queue.
That said, we’re talking about history at this point so we all might as well accept it and move on, which means we either delete and take a crack at reserving on the new server, hope that a bunch of other people do instead or deal with log in queues (hopefully not 11k+).
Good points with the risk losing name reserves. I agree with you there. As for the guild thing again that’s a social thing that blizz can’t really do anything about…
I personally think what they should have done is open up the new server but then not allow character creation on it for 24hr while also allowing free transfers to that server from the highest pop servers. That way people don’t risk not getting their names.
Honestly, there is no reason for them to launch a hundred servers for classic. They have now seen how many people are interested in coming back to classic and can launch more servers as needed, not a huge deal mang. It’ll be fine. Blizzard’s launches are some of the smoother launches in MMO history.
Pro layers … you must not care about Classic WoW then … You see making a name for ourselves as PvP’ers, raider, and craftsmen was a huge part of vanilla … If your happy with no ever knowing who your are. Not making friendships that will last years to come … Go play BFA … Sounds like a good fit for you
People like the op here crack me up. This ain’t McDonald’s. They aren’t simply responsible for making your cheeseburger. A lot of work has gone into this and it’s going well. The problems they have encountered were expected and they are working on them. Calm it down. It’ll be alright. You’ll get to play vanilla soon. Save your bs for when problems actually happen and actually effect you. Classic wow isn’t even launched yet and your already throwing a hissy fit about problems that haven’t even arose yet.
Yeah folks are concerned is all . Want to make sure we get the full vanilla experience like we were told … Only thing I am really concerned about at this point is that layering go away 100% at phase 2 like Blizz said …
Speaking of McDonalds … if you pay your money for a cheeseburger and you get a McChicken instead … You may get concerned …
i mean the blue post have stated in detail quite a lot so far, and more servers are to be expected before, by or after launch, as well as alternatives to layering and sharding which still are yet to be 100% confirmed on top of all this it seems people just want numbers and statistics, if thats considering being poorly handled, i mean i dont know what more the community could want
I was guessing 20-30% WILL be playing after a month. Layering needs to work before the retail visitors leave. Classic communities cannot survive huge population loss. I’m staying on Herod and inviting everyone Horde into <Queue Life>. Three months from now we will be glad we stayed.
I really have to take issue with that final sentence in the opening post. Too me it comes across as a threat. Could we please take a step back and use a more proactive approach to what we perceive as problems? How about just stating your specific issues and any ideas which would resolve them for you without including insults to the staff? Seriously, they’re still people and, even if you feel they’re bad at their job, they’re still the people working on this project. Communicating with them in a way which builds consensus and understanding is going to go a lot further than peeing on their shoes. Even if that is difficult to do, can we at least acknowledge the Vanilla player base spent 15 years throwing tantrums on the forums and was unhappy with the results. That should be evidence enough a new approach is needed.
