Thanks for this substantive reply. If only most people on forums didn’t pollute these threads with their simple-minded, garbage replies (making substantive answers harder to find) people might actually use forums again. Thank you again.

Yeah, awful video by a bad viewer rbg streamer. He just told everyone watching to trinket a sap. If you’re standing far enough away, there’s 0 reason to ever trinket sap. You should never be close enough to the flag to get capped on in a sap. All this video does is enable bad habits for when trinket swapping isn’t the meta. This won’t always be viable and if people get used to trinketing sap, that’s not good for their gameplay.
If anything stand properly far enough away, trinket blind or clone, nothing else. Use the macro then.

I didn’t even bother to watch the vid but if you have to trinket sap that’s a clear indication you are doing it wrong.

I knew whatever he was going to suggest was wrong. 2k player. I’ve seen his stream before. Quite literally has no idea what he’s doing lol. As a DH he should be just outside of leap distance. Leap once, and glaive to spin. Impossible to get capped on in a sap. Anything for views/subs/followers I guess though.
As a rogue, hunters can ruin the strategy. Even though the stealth isn’t permanent, simply using it on CD can delay the rogue. One hunter stood on a tree that I couldn’t shadowstep to. Druids can be a good anti-capper too with permanent stealth. Rotate teammates too. If the rogue was defending a base, send someone there.

Don’t be fooled by smoke cloud too. It lasts 5 seconds. It takes 6 to cap. if you spam an instant ranged ability you should be able to interrupt them, ( server lag permitting )

People tend to panic into smoke bomb and/or cloak. Both allow for 1 second to spin before a base can be capped.
You can also leap into SB.
Stand max distance
Sit sap
Then trinket blind and hit the rogue with something to get in combat.
At this point he is gonna restealth or attempt a kill.
Do not attempt to 1v1. If he stealths spam are to get him out. And keep it up till help arrives.

Forgive my ignorance, I’m not a base sitter, but I was under the impression that standing 40 yards off of the flag meant the rogue couldn’t make it to the flag in time to cap before the CD on cap runs out?
It depends if hes night fae or not.
which yea, i think most rogues are switching off of that.

Usually that’s the case, but Soulshape can allow a rogue to cap anyway.
(Plus, many folks don’t know how long 40 yards is in-game, so many might eyeball it wrong.)

Sap needs a cool down my opinion
There used to be an add on or something that set distance.

Get a goblin to guard your flags. They can use the racial rocket launcher when stunned/incapacitated.
