If you’re assigned to guard a flag by yourself? If they sap you, don’t want to trinket cause they can stun you. But, unless you’re like half a mile from the flag, they have time to cap and stealth.
I don’t know a lot of specifics about DHS, but you should have some instant cast ranged ability that can stop a cap after you sit in the sap. You should never have to trinket sap.
If you use your trinket you can also swap to a relentless trinket when you drop combat.
You’re guarding too closely to the flag. Max range for your ranged ability will put too much distance between you and the flag, making the rogue lose precious seconds on his CC and possibly making it impossible to cap
if they are night fae, it doesnt matter. they can still get to the flag fast enough to sap cap.
@op, no not really. its almost impossible to stop a smart rogue from ninja capping a base. they were just given too many tools this season.
Is this really possible? The math doesn’t really add up. Glaive throw is 30 yards but has a travel time. Imprison is 20 yards and instant. Soul shape is only a 15-yard teleport. It feels like there should be enough time.
Play off the flag. And it’s immolation aura that keeps rogues from capping on you. It keeps doing damage while you’re sapped. Save trinket for when you can’t stop them.
And be vocal when they’re there. All you gotta do is keep them from capping until you can get some backup if needed. A good rogue can be hard.

Tell your team a rogue is there. You should be sighting on cool down and have a rough guess as to where he is at all times. DH is the worst base sitter so you will get solo capped on a rogue within 60 seconds unless your team comes. If team doesn’t come they are bad and it’s 100% their fault
I usually just put a port on flag and sit in a bush 30-40 yards out and wait. Either a stealthy will try to ninja the flag and I can disrupt it even if I’m sapped first or I get jumped by 3 stealthies and die horribly. Or I lose the flag when like 3 people rush the flag and i don’t have back up even after I call the inc well in advance.

even with the 20% cc reduction trinket, sap cap is still unavoidable in most cases.
Sap drops with like 0.2seconds left on the node cap.
Only way youre going to interupt it is if the Rogue misclicked and didnt get on it right away after sapping you.
And even if you do stop him, he’s just gonna Blind>cap.
Its pretty silly.

no, in most cases it is actually unavoidable with a VDH defender. even swapping trinkets and staying away from the flag and all the stuff. its not 100% gauranteed easy cap for the rogue, but it is highly skewed in the rogues favor.
Its come such a long long way from taunting rats to stay in combat to avoid sap.

I was going to post some useful information. I changed my mind. I’m not going to tell people how to counter the one thing rogues are notorious for.
If you can’t figure it out, you deserve to be sap capped. It’s not hard.
No Shamans are … we have nothing to stop a rogue between Sap and Blind from capping. Well even if we stand far enough to avoid having to trinket the sap , we will just be killed in 3 globals by the Rogue ![]()
