Either something has just fundamentally changed in SL or people are sitting on the flags. I’m lvling a DH for fun atm, so we’ll see
Finding someone shadowmelded is usually easy when it comes to base defenders, being that you’d have to retain visibility and distance, which greatly limits the search area. And that one’s only an option for the alliance DHs, which, to be fair, the OP is.
I find you have to be around 70+ yards, and rely on double leaping back to be somewhat safe. With the relentless trinket you could do with about 60 yards, but you’d become vulnerable to other solo cappers like hunters. These distances are often not viable; for one needs to retain line of sight, and the ability to get back in time.
Could be missing something, but I don’t think VDH are strong defenders. Or anything lacking extra breaks, or instant ranged attacks, for that matter.
One thing to note is that while capping takes 6 secs, it’s typically enough to cc your targets for 5 secs to get it to register. The only thing that tends to interrupt me before the cap goes off is fire blast.
I was going to comment the same about shadowmeld, its not totally invisible.
Use the 20% reduction CC trinket, and stay at a good distance away from the flag and you should generally be alright.
Also, shadowmeld is your friend.
Make it as annoying as possible for the rogue and they generally won’t even attempt it.
I’m pretty curious about this now. Are the claims that rogues can sap/cap max distance VDHs hyperbole or true? It’s really hard to believe anyone on their word these days and it doesn’t make much sense in my head, but I’ve not played either of these classes in RBGs in recent seasons.
Sap caps from distance are possible i believe with soulshape, I forget the distance, but I believe 2 hops the sap would end. You can still outrage a sap cap and prevent it.
That was my thinking. It seemed to me VDH had enough mobility cool downs to cycle every sap DR window to prevent caps with range. If it were possibly with high probability, it just seems it would be happening a whole lot more outside of lower rating groups.
So, if blizzard somehow, idk, nerf this ability, what’s gonna be the role of a rogue in a RBG?
I don’t think there’s any reason to nerf it as it seems to have good counterplay. It seems to have evolved since I last played rated as a rogue, but it still seems easy enough to stop. I could see there being issues with bases that don’t allow much distance, like the ones in Deep Wind Gorge, but you can simply make sure your DH isn’t on the bases with small areas.
What I’m gathering is that simply standing 30 yards away from the flag is no longer good enough. But standing further still allows you to stop pretty much all of them.
This very topic is being discussed on the DH discord atm. Someone posted a video with some information. No idea what CR this stuff is coming from, but it’s information.
Clever but seems a bit underhanded .
I meant as far as tanks hehe
but shamans at least have elementals and totems
Elementals yes., as long as they are off CD.
As for totems , we don’t have any which can keep the rogue from capping during a blind , except liquid magma which no one in their right mind will ever talent into .
1 minute duration is good enough to stall and then you swap out for someone who has trinket
you gotta double sit or swap if you dont have trinket on pretty much any class
Not pet classes…Hunters, Locks, Mages, DK all can defend with trinket down
Just came out of a Rated BG, after a string of wins, we lost a game after I lost the flag to experienced rogues/druids and zerging on at least two occasions.
Our junk leader/caller literally blamed the entire loss on me, despite the fact that at one point all three nodes were capped by the opposing team.
In my experience, DH tanks are lousy flag sitters. If you’re going to have a flag sitter, you need to at least double him up after the initial cap and battle. If you’re not going to team up, then you should in proximity to reach the flag before the lone sitter dies. And the lead should keep his mouth shut long enough to hear incoming calls from base sitters.
If you’re the leader, and don’t do the minimum to protect what you have, especially if you’re outclassed, you’re a garbage leader. There are too many garbage leaders in RBG.
As you can tell, I freakin’ pissed.
The only way to really counter this is by standing far away from the Flag so they don’t have time to sap and walk all the way over to the flag and cap it.
Or play a paladin because you play the most broken class in wows history
There is counterplay to being dap capped by a rogue, but in equal gear and skill, the rogue will eventually win through trading cooldowns so you will need help. But you shouldn’t be losing a node to a single rogue when you have most of your CDs.
Immolation aura with agonizing flames let’s you stop all caps. The trick is to not get sapped or blinded during the 6? second window it’s on cooldown. That usually means retreating away from the flag.
You can Immo aura during your jump to land on top of the flag. Even if you are sapped or blinded you will do aoe dmg preventing the cap.
They sit fine. Sit just out of your leap range and they can’t cap on you in a sap. Eyes on cooldown.
You being bad at it, doesn’t make it bad.
I don’t know why many dh’s don’t do this to track the locations of stealth and announce to raid.
