Did you seriously not remember Warcraft 3 and the founding of Theramore and Vanilla Theramore? Large in Theramore. As in enough to get representation in their government.
Though the streets recall the quiet serenity of the Alliance of Lordaeron, the meetings of the Assembly reveal the considerable strain among the city’s residents. After years of near-paternal guidance of the humans of Lordaeron, the high elves resent being forced to rely on the hospitality of the younger race since arriving on Kalimdor. As humans hold five of the seven seats on the Alliance Assembly, both the elves (with two seats) and the dwarves (with none) feel under-represented in the leadership of both Theramore and the Alliance in general. As the dwarves continue to accumulate more evidence of their Titan heritage that they want to present to their King in Khaz Modan, their protests that the Alliance does little to return across the sea grow louder and louder.[66] Also, diplomatic relationship between the humans on Kalimdor and their brethren in the Eastern Kingdoms — especially the people of Stormwind, whose leadership wants to challenge Theramore on its new role as the Alliance’s capital — have been getting worse in the past, with each side accusing the other of fatal mistakes during the last war. While the people of Theramore hold a grudge against their relatives for triggering the Horde’s counterattack on the city, the humans on the other side of the ocean feel they have a right to get more support from Theramore.
there could have been 4 even 5 elves in theramore. how does one serving in a gov’t role = large population
you have to remember development themselves have clarified multiple times that there are very few high elves living among the alliance. and that was even before theramore got blown up
also youre citing the paper rpg which is not canon
now it all makes sense, at least where youre pulling this fanfiction stuff from
The High Elves in Theramore comprised many positions within the city-state. They also were represented in the assembly for the exiles who joined Jaina’s expedition. These elves are present in the city and around Dustwallow marsh. You seem to not remember Warcraft 3 or Vanilla -Cata Theramore.
Try not to miss my point there were REFUGEE population of significant numbers to warrant REPRESENTATION in THE ALLIANCE ASSEMBLY. Getting 2 seats while the city existed.
The city of Stormwind also houses a population of High Elves as seen in game and in lore descriptions. The largest population remains in Dalaran and are led by Vereesa Windrunner.
The high elves are in a state of diaspora. Most reside in human cities like Stormwind, Theramore Isle, or Dalaran. Others live in seclusion in the wild forests, often in hunting lodges such as Farstrider Lodge.
While relations with the night elves seem to have improved, this does not seem to be the case with blood elves. Tensions have reignited since the destruction of Theramore at the hands of a mana bomb created by the Sunreaver Thalen Songweaver, which cost the lives of the high elves that had settled in the port city, and Rhonin, Vereesa’s husband. As such, the Silver Covenant aided the Kirin Tor and the Alliance in purging the Sunreavers from Dalaran, enforcing Jaina’s orders.

Humans and high elves have a long history. They fought the overwhelming Amani Empire together in the Troll Wars, the monstrous Orcish Horde in the Second War and horrifying nightmares of the Burning Legion and Scourge in the Third War. The high elven nation’s conduct at the end of the Second War led to bitterness and resentment toward the elves, but humans are also amongst the few races to accept the high elves into their cities; they can currently be seen occupying the human city of Stormwind, and Theramore before its fall. There are many high elves in the Theramore military. Of the human kingdoms, the high elves have the closest relationship with the magocrats of the Kirin Tor, as elves have been allies and productive members of the Kirin Tor for over 2,000 years.[68] The high elf prince Kael’thas Sunstrider even served on its ruling council, and it was not uncommon for high elf mages to study, serve, and even live in Dalaran in addition to Quel’Thalas. Grand Magister Rommath spent much of his life in Dalaran as a high elf, and Vereesa Windrunner was married to its leader. The Kirin Tor have even granted the high elves a safe haven in Dalaran after their exile from Quel’Thalas,[citation needed] and Dalaran serves as a home for the Silver Covenant, the most prominent group of modern high elves.
wowpedia is usually pretty acurate btw. but the high elf page is heavily edited by people like you. i can poke a lot of holes in what you posted like how just saying there are elves in stormwind but not giving context like how theres only a couple and they constantly get mistaken for blood elves or trying to take credit of the sunreavers for being productive citizens of dalaran for thousands of years to farstrider types
I think the point he’s trying to make is that spamming fan-edited wikis in lieu of actual sources to back up your claims is rather poor form.
I just think you have a very bad reading on the “90% of surviving high elves” number and the unaccounted for pockets it actually comprises. You’re conflating companion lore written in 2006 with newer stuff like the nebulous group of rangers Lor’themar banished over the ethics of mana tapping, and completely ignoring more recent and explicit lore that states, straight up, that the Alliance’s main bulk of high elves has been there since the Second War. It’s my opinion that these groups, taken altogether, comprise the missing 10% the old encyclopedia talks about.
But we’ve had this discussion before, and I don’t think I care to repeat it tonight, especially not in a troll thread dumped here from WoWGen. That would also be poor form.
no one is ignoring the contrived lore to give alliance elven units at the start of wc3 in that a couple priests stayed behind to help heal the wounded and a mage got bored. and it was a couple given blizzard has repeatedly clarified it post wc3-wow
after all
High elves did not gather in any significant numbers and are a very small group of individuals. [2]
but it does seem you are ignoring it. almost seems like you people just like to pretend tft expansion doesnt exist because it took the high elves out of the alliance. its why they werent a race for you in vanilla
Sorry not trying to exhaust people with our back and forth. Back to the original point, I don’t think Quel’thelas belongs to the Alliance. It belongs to the Thalassians in control of the country i.e Blood Elves.
Void/High Elves are exiles and don’t control the city and likely never will unless Lorthemar decides to make a place for the former exiles and the Blood Elves decide to tolerate their brethren.
If I’m not mistaken, she’s legally banished from the territory after Lor’themar found out what she’d been up to, not just because of what went down with the Sunwell.
I thought I did, but this irate nightborne poster is so lost they seem to believe I’m making some kind of pro-high elf argument here, so I don’t know what to think.
You did. The Nightborne kept changing what I was saying and trying to imply more than I was saying. While I like High Elf lore the boat has long since passed on them, never being playable or having any major presence in Quel’thelas. I was just commenting that there were more high elves than initially described back in Vanilla/BC era.
Don’t get her started. I don’t think there is a good pro high elf statement which can be made at this point unless Blizzard really wants to retcon or update their lore to make it feasible.
thanks for this. resorting to an ad hominem means i win. was kind of hoping to see you try to counter with some more fanfiction(i always enjoy those takes and find them humorous) but this will do
